Chik-fil-le sandwich

INGREDIENTS:

4 hamburger buns, split

1 head green leaf lettuce, leaves separated

1 beefsteak tomato, sliced

20 dill pickle slices

FOR THE CHICKEN

2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 cup dill pickle juice

1 ½ cups milk, divided

1 cup peanut oil

1 large egg

½ cup all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon confectioners’ sugar

Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

DIRECTIONS:

Place a chicken breast on a cutting board. With your hand flat on top of it, carefully slice the chicken in half horizontally. Trim excess fat as needed.

In a large shallow baking dish, combine chicken, pickle juice and ½ cup milk; marinate for at least 30 minutes. Drain well.

Heat peanut oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.

In another large shallow baking dish, whisk together remaining 1 cup milk and egg. Stir in chicken to coat and drain excess milk mixture.

In a gallon size Ziploc bag or large bowl, combine chicken, flour and confectioners’ sugar; season with salt and pepper, to taste.

Working in batches, add chicken to the skillet and cook until evenly golden and crispy, about 4-5 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.

Serve chicken immediately on burger buns with green leaf lettuce, tomato and pickles.

I will be pissed if Athena goes. The writers have seemed lost with her character at least 4 seasons, giving her some of the worst story lines, but killing her off? 🤬

I will probably put up two middle fingers to the show and pretend it ended season 5.

But if they do this? I'm gone. I have already moved from never miss a second to check the chatter on the episode and give it a look if sounds worthwhile. I'll move to, "it's been nice knowing you".

If Eddie realizes he can be straight and fall in love with his best friend, tells Buck he is in love with him, and Buddie happens just before Eddie joins Bobby Nash in the Ghosts of 118 group...

It's hilarious seeing Buck have to deal with himself.

But imagine a tween and teen MADDIE having to deal with Evan running so Theo could sprint. Do you remember being a teenager with homework, chores, friends? Now imagine all that PLUS a child that makes Ritalin shake in fear being your responsibility.

My headcanon is Maddie is currently comfortably sitting on a couch, a huge wineglass that is that threatening to spill in her hand, her feet daintily tucked beneath her, and her head thrown back in maniacal laughter as others share the stories of a frazzled and exhausted Buck chasing the new Buckley-manian Devil around.

The payback must taste oh so sweet!

In a fond and loving way of course.

(Maddie is also going to spoil Mini Me rotten and tell her brother how proud she is of him because she sees Buck all over again and we know she adores that goof.)

Episode 9 x 13 is not beating the allegations:

Buck and Eddie are married.

Eddie is the angry and "I'm not bitching" bitchy partner: He is frustrated and spiraling, and denying it all, in his own angry little huffy puffy way. Buck knows and is trying to find a way to prevent Mt Diaz from going all Vesuvius.

Buck is the multitasking, nurturing, problem solving spouse: He is trying to keep his man as calm as possible, find a solution, throw only positives out, and hide his own frustration.

They are petty little bastardos: That restaurant bickering? That's couple behavior. You're both pissed, and possibly both wrong, so you decide that instead of admitting you are wrong and apologizing, you are going to make the other miserable just because you can. And misery loves company, so the one making you miserable right now should join you.

But if you mess with one, the other is ready to beat your ass into the ground.

If not queer and couple, why queer and couple coded ladies and gentlemen of the writers room?

I know the difference between best friend behavior and romantic partner behavior.

The writers saying what is or is not one or the other will not work.

The oblivious thing or making Eddie say 100 times how straight he is will not work.

Eddie Diaz is straight and we all should accept it! *cough cough loud and long sigh*

Which we would, if he wasn't written as a deeply closeted, willfully oblivious, fight the obvious until his last breath man who is not attracted to women. Maybe the character wasn't meant to be written that way, but if he wasn't you all in the writers room failed. Epically.

I've been wandering around this planet a while now. I am a woman who is definitely into men. That means I have had the pleasure, and sometimes trauma, of dealing with heterosexual, or bisexual, men. (Dating disasters can be a whole SERIES of post later.)

I am going to list some things in canon first:

Eddie Diaz, parent of a teenager, spent $2500 to avoid going on a date with a woman.

Eddie Diaz jumped on the first excuse he could find to stop sleeping with Marisol.

Eddie Diaz, canonically, has only dated two women after his wife. One he dated because he ran into her after his friends kept bringing up how long he had been single and she seemed into him and the second he...*reads notes and raises eyebrow*...dated because he ran into her after his friends kept bringing up how long he had been single and she seemed into him.

I'm not saying there is a pattern there, but I'm not saying there isn't.

Eddie Diaz stated dating felt like he was performing. (Sus af statement.)

I can't remember one episode where Eddie has seen a beautiful woman and just went blue screen. I have seen women so beautiful I had to stop and think,"Damn! Leave some for us bish!" This guy doesn't register women. At all!

Early on, when Buck asked why he turned down a group of women at the bar, remember tailpipe girl, Eddie said,"They aren't my type."

Did he mean girls who would go to a bar? That's presumptive. Maybe one of those women has been working nonstop for a year and just needed a good drink and some music. Did he mean girls in shorts? He's from Texas. Cutoff shorts were mandatory every day after the last day of the school year.

How the hell can you look at a group of a dozen or more women who are vastly different from each other and instantly know none of them are your type? There was only one thing they all had in common.

Now back to my experiences as a woman who dated men. I have never met a straight man who goes out of his way to avoid women. Oh, it was usually the opposite. We had to run from them. They didn't talk about snagging a woman the way they would about finishing a terrible chore they had been putting off for months. They planned, strategized, and even worked together to complete "the mission".

Eddie runs from women. When he is finally free of them, he stays that way until his family and friends question him, a relatively "safe" woman appears and makes it obvious she is in to him, and he can't find any more readily available excuses. Then pursues a relationship with her until he just can't stand it anymore and hightails it.

I have seen zero canonical proof that Edmundo Diaz is sexually attracted to women. I've seen canonical activity that could be interpreted as Eddie being asexual, demisexual, or homosexual. I can't even say bisexual or pansexual, because dude is not into women. Every one of the women he has been written with were there because of circumstances and his belief that he was obligated to do something.

I didn't date someone because I felt obligated. I dated them because I liked them and was attracted to them.

Eddie has been canonically called out for not liking or being genuinely attracted to his girlfriends.

He has also canonically had his heterosexuality laughed at by a gay man who was formerly closeted and was clocked by another gay man.

Other than Eddie saying he is straight, nothing else is indicating that. And we know he sucks as feelings, emotions, and figuring things out when they pertain to himself.

I need the 118 to stage an intervention and be firm when they tell Eddie to accept

That is how I would look at Oliver Stark, with a bit more hunger in the eyes and some drool, but I digress. And we have established I adore men.

Where I am from we pray to get down to 86 degrees Fahrenheit half the year. I can fully function in 110+ and think nothing of it.

Hello! It has been a while.

I will not judge anyone who was in 911 fandom but decided to leave.

The writing has gone off the rails. This didn't happen recently. Season 6 was awful. I still haven't watched most of it. The same goes for seasons 7 and 8. I decided after season 8, until Minear and Company gave me a reason to watch, I'd pass. I can see enough on social media.

They wrote off one of the best characters and strongest actors in an ridiculous fashion. They are focusing on a weak actor and his character. I also question if this is being set up to write Hen out of the show, if Oliver will return since his character is just the stereotypical bi guy who is channeling Buck 1.0. Bringing in Athena's kids? Whatever.

I feel like 911 will turn into the Ryan and Kenny hour for season 10. Buddie? I admire those who still believe it could happen. Ryan has made it clear he isn't down for it and Minear has made it clear he loves his Eddie actor and will make him happy.

BuckTommy? Maybe. If Buck is still around. I wouldn't be shocked if Buck's write off, should Oliver depart, is eloping with Tommy and following him somewhere as a big F-U to Buddie fans.

Or he could have Buck meet and marry someone quickly while Tommy is chasing him, as a big F-U to BuckTommy AND Buddie fans.

And to the male GBTQ community and allies as a whole?

I can only take so much terrible writing, suspension of disbelief, inability to write women, especially African American women, well, and handing the focus of the show over to actors that just aren't as talented.

I do want to say that fanfic writers, graphics creators, and everyone in fandom who creates awesome content- YOU ARE APPRECIATED! A03 > ABC. lol

I miss the first 5 seasons so much. 😢STELLAR show back then!

So for those hanging in there and hoping for the best, don't give up unless a knockout punch is thrown.

For those who threw in the towel, I don't blame you. Everyone has their limits.

For both, can we all respect each other and enjoy fandom? Fighting about a show never made sense to me. We don't run it.
