Non-writers don't understand how much of writing is just googling things like "when was the croissant invented" for worldbuilding reasons and staring off into the distance.

yeah yeah rainbow capitalism is bad and whatever but like. when I was a child, being pro gay was not the popular or lucrative choice. I'm happy that times have changed.
I miss rainbow capitalism. I do. I miss when it felt like public opinion was still pro gay. I understand it was always an empty gesture, but it mattered in a sense of knowing how socially acceptable being queer is. If that makes sense.
Imagine if we did the āpublic libraries are punkā thing for other subcultures. Imagine if people made shirts that said āSoup kitchens are grungeā or āMixed Use Urbanism is Juggaloā.

"character deserved better" (but they were never going to get it that's the stuff great tragedies are made of) vs "character deserved better" (but the writers really blew it)
You know that scene in game of thrones in which Ned is choking Littlefinger? Hottest Ned moment on the show
there's something to be said about the fact that the most sympathetic view we get of Cersei throughout the books comes from Catelyn (and Ned to an extent). They're on opposing sides of a continental war, Cersei is partly responsible for Ned's death and is now holding Sansa (and Arya as far as Catelyn knows) hostage, and still, right before the battle between Renly and Stannis, when Catelyn goes to pray, she wonders if Cersei prays to the same gods she does. She just realized that Bran learning of Cersei's and Jaime's affair is the reason he fell, and still finds it in herself to think that Cersei is a mother too, that no matter if her children came from Robert of Jaime, she still carried them and birthed them and fed them. Her hate for Cersei cannot be understated, and yet, in that sept, the moment when Catelyn thinks to herself that even Cersei, with her proud and cold and lovely features, would weep for her children too does more to humanize Cersei than any single appearance she had in Tyrion's, Jaime's or Sansa's chapters.
tragedy is when a man has so much failwife potential & yet gets assigned suave dom by the fandom and isn't allowed to be anything else. chin up king your loser energy is seen and appreciated. by me
asoiaf seven heavenly virtues ā© temperance My father once told me that being a lord is like being a father, except you have thousands of children and you worry about all of them. The farmers plowing the fields are yours to protect. The charwomen scrubbing the floors, yours to protect. The soldiers you order into battle. He told me he woke with fear in the morning and went to bed with fear in the night. I didnāt believe him. I asked him, āhow can a man be brave if heās afraid?ā āThat is the only time a man can be brave,ā he told me.
My father was the most honorable man I ever met.

āHome is where the trees look normalā is the sweetest, saddest, most nostalgic truth Iāve ever heard.
This was a kind of sweet dashboard coincidence.
actually sports are awesome because if i told you there was a piece of fiction with a sports veteran who everyone is constantly comparing to his prime and wondering if he's about to retire and if we're all just watching a swan song and that by the way his nickname starting up was 'the kid' you would tell me it was too on the nose. and yet.
if i told you about a guy having to hide in an airport and then hunker down in a foreign country waiting for a visa after his former team tried to steal his passport to keep him from going to play in another league you would say what is this a spy movie. happened to my good friend evgeni malkin though.
And, never forget their defenseman who rode a chronic illness and paternal abandonment into being a third round draft pick the Penguins gambled on. Hopping between the big league, minors, and junior for a while until he finally got a spot on the active roster, the same year he lost his best friend. Then, he's survived two strokes and a heart defect to get where he is. And teammates call him Bang Bang Kris Letang.
why so silent good messieurs
Iām SEVERELY disappointed this post didnāt include the eye witness statement of the mirror crash incident in question
