LUXEMBOURG - Every year I am trying to visit at least one country in which I have never been before. This year it was the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, where Charles IV, our King of Bohemia and the Holy Roman Emperor had a dad from. I went to see the resting place of his dad John of Bohemia & Count of Luxembourg in the crypt of the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Luxembourg City and then we went to this peaceful countryside. SPAIN - I’ts been long 7 years since I last time swam in the sea of Europe. And that last time was at Costa Brava in Spain and Leucate in France. And then...yes, I have been sailing in the sea of Europe...in Denmark, Norway, Scotland, Sweden, Ireland...but certainly not swimming. For swimming I went to Oman and Emirates. But that’s not Europe. And here we go – finally – after these long 7 years I am gonna swim in the European sea again! Right back on the spot – in Costa Brava! And my journey will be very same like the last time – through Figueres, the birthplace of Salvador Dalí. Here I am standing in a large extremely bizarre surrealist museum designed by Dalí himself, which he already knew as a child, as it was the town's theatre. He is buried there in a crypt below the stage. SCOTLAND – Edinburgh, the city of Trainspotting. Dùn Èideann, the capital of Scotland. When I went here for the first time, I was living in England. I was economic migrant from a post-Soviet state, ex-communist Czechoslovakia. My homeland was not part of €U and to get to the UK I needed a visa. My knowledge of English was rather poor, but British people were really nice to me. When this picture was taken on the streets of Edinburgh, I was already living in Ireland. And I was upgraded economic migrant, because Czech Republic already joined €urope Union. I had a great job too (not the one this picture is suggesting, unlike Veronika from T2 Trainspotting) and ironically, I was hired because of my knowledge of Czech and Slovak language. As not too many native Irish citizens speaks my language. But in both countries, I could see scenes from Trainspotting on the streets. Heroin was still a big thing there, while in my country was more popular crystal meth. Still is. I just get back from the cinema, where I saw T2: Trainspotting. And I saw Mark, Sick Boy, Spud and Begbie again and those 20 years, which were not only theirs, but mine too...those parties and festivals...those Underworld concerts and DJ sets...and Iggy Pop concert...and I knew “Choose Life” by heart, word by word. One of the biggest disappointments of my youth was to see Mark Renton dancing in Moulin Rouge. I am so happy that he is back in his best form in T2!!! Perfect reunion, which teach you – don’t go to gym, it might kill you. Rather do drugs and have some fun. Choose Your Future. ❄️WINTER❄️ - my favorite season🌞. When the snow starts falling🌨️, it's a pure white calm quiet happiness. It means that Saint Martin arrives on time on his white horse. Candles. Hot chestnuts. Hot mulled wine, rum punch, hot chocolate and lots of tea. Saint Nicolas day, and me looking for a grannies gingerbread, fruits and sweets in my shoes behind the window in the morning, saying poems to St. Nicolas in the evening (I was sooo bad at it :D), curiously looking at Angel and being scared of Devil. Four advent Sundays, four candles, under the mistletoe. Christmas, beautiful smell of fresh pine tree in our living room, potato salad, customs, traditions, visiting all our wide family, meeting all at granny’s and gifts. Of course gifts :D. Once I get a doll with long brown hair. Real hair you know? So I can brush them. I named her Eliška. Feeding animals in the forest with apples and carrots, birds with seeds. Looking in the other people colorfully light-up windows. Fireworks at New Years Eve, fresh new start and the best part of the winter – ice-skating⛸️, skiing⛷️, mountains🌄, warm stoves, kilns and fireplaces🔥. Building snowmans ⛄and igloos. Then relax in sauna, steam room and whirpool. Last 5 years we did now had a snow in Prague. I am so so so happy that the snow is back and that this pretty city looks like a postcard photo under this white clean duvet❄️❄️❄️. PERU – Christmas Day at Machu Picchu - 15th-century Inca citadel 2.430 metres (7,970 ft) above sea level. When I arrived it was slightly raining, pretty cold and really foggy – you couldn’t see a thing and I couldn’t be more disappointed. However, the fog and rain disappeared within 2h – Christmas magic ;-). Machu Picchu was built in the classical Inca style, with polished dry-stone walls and it was voted as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. In the Quechua language, machu means "old", while pikchu means "peak", hence the name of the site means "old peak" - it was built around 1224, at the height of the Inca. Just 2 weeks after this pic was taken heavy rain caused flooding that buried roads and railways to Machu Picchu, trapping more than 2,000 locals and more than 2,000 tourists, later airlifted out.
