A painter in Los Angeles kept missing his exit for the I-5 on the 110 highway, so he did his research, climbed up the overhead sign, and changed it himself without anyone noticing.
This is Richard Ankrom. He couldnât find his damn exit, cuz it wasnât properly labelled. Â
So he took life by the balls, like any self-respecting Californian would do, and used his sign-painting expertise to fix it himself.
He called it âguerilla public service.â Even got himself an outfit to look official. It worked, obvi.
Caltrans investigated, but the sign was actually up to code. They left it there for 8 years before they made an updated sign.

chaotic good
chaotic frustratedÂ
every day i look at the sink and iâm like seriously? honest to god i have used dishes once again?
this post is not for people frustrated by ppl putting dishes in their communal sink bc âoh i would NEVER leave a dish in the sink.â fuck off you already have your life together you donât need this post. this is for the slimes and losers whose sinks are filled with the dishes of their own creation. this is for the lazy women, the useless men, the pathetic enbies. get out of here you sparkling clean dished heathens
These other assholes: Oh I hate leaving a mess. Cleaning up actually helps me unwind!
My ADHD executive-dysfunctional fuckin goblin self: I have to perform a TASK? But I just performed a task YESTERDAY!
Some people simply do not understand the profoundly Sisyphean torment that is cleaning things.
Dishes.
Clothes.Â
House.
Self.
IT DOESNâT MATTER HOW OFTEN YOU DO IT, YOUâRE GOING TO HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN. DOPAMINE PAYOFF IS ZERO, THE TASK IS NEVER COMPLETED AND YOUâRE NOT ALLOWED TO STOP DOING IT EVER IN YOUR WHOLE LIFE.
Update
Gillian Philip is doxxing fans and MINORS now. A fan recently sent her an email voicing their concerns about her views and the impact they have on her work and fan base. Gillian decided to post the fanâs full name and email address to their PUBLIC Twitter in an attack. The fan is a MINOR who runs a Warriors fan account. How disgusting do you have to be to dox and potentially HARM a MINOR!?
in case anyone (like me) was just hearing about this, Gillian works on the Erin Hunter team and is now openly a TERF.
she works on Survivors and Bravelands.
see that checkered flag? itâs a TERF dogwhistle, something they put in their usernames or bios to let other transphobes know theyâre one of them. if you come across someone using it, avoid avoid avoid.
Reblogging for the dog-whistle info, itâs important
goddd i just want spider-man's identity to be his own worst but new york city's best kept secret. like i want him unthinkingly taking off his mask and like 20 people see, but if you ask them if they did? no they didn't.
the rule is unwritten, but very enforced. like, there are online communities dedicated to erasing any trace of the spread of his identity. a tourist takes a photo of him and posts it online? it's gone in minutes, and people send DMs to the poster anywhere from "hey, i'm sure you were just excited, but...." to "ill kill u if i evr c you, fuckin bitch".
any information on spider-man is only spread via word of mouth, and only spoken in hushed, awed voices. after several years of spider-man, everyone knows someone who encountered him:
"he saved my cousin. caught a falling billboard from underneath with his bare hands..."
"wow... i've never seen him myself, but he talked to my coworker's daughter for an hour after he stopped a guy from getting a little too handsy. apparently, his smile is 'dreamy'."
these secrets are freely given if you're kind, trustworthy, and show respect for the little guy. but the moment you demand information on him... "i don't know what you're talking about, buddy. he's just an urban legend the news likes to blame the city's problems on so we don't unionize or worse"
so as many times as spider-man ends up with out a mask, or accidentally introduces himself with a name that starts with 'p' and rhymes with 'meter'... on the record, they don't know a thing. because he does his best to help as many people as he can, so it's only fair if they help him a little in return.
Every time I see a beautiful post about how Spidey collectively brings out the best I have to imagine the inverse of Venom just idiot disastering his way to the same result. His identity is so openly known that no one cares. Villains roll into to town prepared to "ruin his life" and just stop inside his apartment, looking around in horror, before turning to leave "I can't do anything worse to this guy than life already did."
"Venom saved everyone on the bus when it nearly went off a bridge, but he hung around for an hour caging spare change. He's just going to buy tater tots."
"My store was almost robbed but that weirdo ate the robber and now once a month he steals all the barbecue pork rinds."
Someone comes into try and take Venom into jail but gets nowhere not because everyone is protecting him but because everyone just doesn't want to know where he is. "Eddie? Ugh, I don't know. I try to avoid him at every possible moment. Why don't you fire up the tater tot signal that oughta bring them."
Something I need yâall youngins to understand growing up in the age of crypto and streaming is that digital ownership is not ownership. Digital ownership is renting.
If you have, say, House (2022) on Netflix. That new stop motion movie. You donât own that movie. You pay to have access, to that movie, but you donât physically own it. It isnât yours to take with you or put in a blu ray player. Youâre paying to maybe watch it.
The movie is something you can access so long as Netflix is active and you pay for access. If one of those things changes you no longer can see that movie. If the movie goes to a different streaming service it is gone. (You should buy any movie you want to see again or would be sad if it left streaming).
Same with digital video games. Silent Hills PT is a playable trailer that, because of the Kojima/Konami dispute, was pulled from PSN. You cannot download it anymore. A physical disc cannot be taken from you, it can always be put in your console and played. Having the physical game is owning it having the downloaded game is renting it.
Youâre promised these things forever but you only have access to rented digital goods for as long as the site supports it. And eventually that will change. You can pop in a Mario 64 cartridge into your N64 anytime you want and play. You cannot download a digital copy of Halo 2 to an original xbox because that support has been shut down (and modern consoles donât let you carry your entire library on your system storage). If you have a disc of Horizon Zero Dawn you can always play it. If you have a digital copy that will go away given enough time.
Same with digital card games. Magic the Gathering has had multiple online formats. When they close one to make another your entire collection is gone. They offer you the idea of collecting but it only means anything if the servers are active. Physical cards can always be used and can even be used in inventive ways like horde mode. Thatâs how commander/EDH got its start.
Spotify is great for music exploration but download music you like. Go to the library and check out cdâs to put on your computer or go to bandcamp and get albums DRM free. My family switched itunes email accounts in 2011 and its junked up 3 years of purchases requiring us to rebuy them.
As much as NFT bros want you to believe it digital ownership is NOT ownership. The concept of digital ownership relies on false scarcity (minting a limited number of NFTâs when more could have been made) and a few clever words to make you think the netflix library is YOUR movie library. Its really fucking convenient for big businesses who can squeeze every drop of money out of you without giving anything tangible in return.
Digital ownership is NOT ownership.
I think the next big cool trend should be everybody gets a VCR again and everybody pirates all the digital media to vhs tapes. that's what I think ought. The video games we can figure out different.

Commenting fanfiction is the easiest thing in the world once you start doing it.Â
I leave a comment on every single fic I read. Sometimes when I read published books I go and leave a comment somewhere the author can find it. Granted, I literally majored in âleaving comments on ficsâ (English Education), but once you start doing it it just becomes second nature. Now youâre gonna go to the Ozymandias school of leaving comments:Â
Problem: I canât leave kudos again.
Beginner: This is a second/third/fourth Kudos
Advanced: This is my second/third/fortieth time reading this, I still love it so much. Here are a few new things I noticed. I like the way you personally do x, y, z compared to other authors Iâve read (in this ship/genre/fandom).
Problem: I donât know what to say :(
Beginner: Just list what you did to read this fic. âI stayed up late reading thisâ, âI read this on a crowded trainâ, âthis kept me company while sickâ.Â
Advanced: X,Y,Z parts made me get butterflies, and I had a physical reaction to this part of the story, I squealed outloud when characters did x,y,z. I blushed at this part. I laughed out loud here. Whatever.Â
Problem: Iâm embarrassed to leave a comment (what if I annoy the author?)
Beginner: Short answer: you wonât EVER annoy the author (unless youâre needlessly mean) But to start, be generic, you donât have to spill your soul in the comments section. âI liked thisâ âI enjoyed reading thisâ ânice ficâ.
Advanced: This really meant a lot to me that you wrote this. This is something I feel like Iâve always wanted to read. This fic hit me in all the right places. Etc.Â
Problem: I donât know how to express myself/my experienceÂ
Beginner: My beginners go to is to highlight a line, put that in your comment and say âi liked thisâ or to identify basic emotions you had while reading and comment those âthis made me happyâ âthis part made me sadâ âi almost criedâ âyou made me laughâ Advanced: âHighlighted lineâ This line made me smile because it has to do with character development/itâs really romantic/itâs so unique/itâs moving. Sometimes I donât highlight a line at all, I just talk about the stuff Iâve noticed were unique to the fic. âI love the way you did this particular thing with this characterâ.Â
This? This is an amazing post. This is the Captain Awkward of commenting postsâit addresses all your fears directly and gives you actionable scripts for each one.
doing this will make authors / writers love you forever.
that bad sensory moment when youâre trying to do something that requires a lot of focus and the people around you are talking loudly and youâre just sitting there like $&@&&@@^%#%^%***++*%%#%^*+%%%
its so shiddy when u have to convince yourself to do your hobbies. like, its fun, you like it, why cant you just do it. do it. do it. but what if.... mindless media consumption instead....
im so sorry to the seven thousand of you so far who relate
upset at the accuracy of these tags
ITS NEVER TOO LATE TO FINISH THAT FIC!!!
This is so inspiring and uplifting.
three days ago I got an ao3 subscription update email and the authorâs note on the chapter said theyâd come back and written chapter ten SIXTEEN YEARS after chapter nine was published, so, never fear to hit that subscribe button folks
It took Stephen King 26 YEARS to write the next chapter of one of his Dark Tower books
LEAVE THAT COMMENT. Even if the fic is old. You never know whoâs listening, or if your words are exactly the little push that author needs to take a trip down memory lane and remember all the wonderful things that inspired them to write the fic in the first place. Think about it, Reader. YOU could be the person that RESURRECTS THAT FIC!
So Iâm guessing weâre all growing old with each other on tumblr.
