I reblogged "laughing and loving in my space, in ones element, and these are a few my favorite things" In "laughing and loving in my space" the person who posted this started off their storyboard with some scented candles I'm guessing and a mug with some tea in it, then some room decorations with the labels of "laugh" and "love" which goes perfectly with the caption of the storyboard. They proceed with some of their favorite liquor, a friend, a dog, and some Netflix. This storyboard gives me a snapshot of what this posters daily life is in her abode. 

In "in ones element" the person who posted this started off their storyboard with a picture of a grill that I'm guessing is in their backyard with a pool and a slide in the background. They proceed to show the pool and slide i was talking about but now with a poolside basketball hoop for some intense pool basketball games. There is also a picture of a fence with some chalk drawings and what I'm guessing is the names of the people who live there, the poster ends out the storyboard with a picture of a cute little smiling dog. This particular storyboard had shown me how nice backyards in chico could be.

In "these are a few of my favorite things" the person who posted this started off their storyboard with a picture of make up and nail polish with brands i have no idea about but I'm no make up/nail polish connoisseur. They also have a picture of quite a few DVDs ranging from disney movies to comedies to the lord of the rings trilogy. They also have pictures of very colorful shot glasses and candles. This storyboard just like the first one i reblogged gave me a snapshot of the posters fancy crib.

These three posts were all at homes rather than out and about in the city of Chico. These storyboards gave a insight on what some of my peers interests are along with their home surroundings. Ive also learned that most people in Chico drink alcohol, which is totally a big surprise to me(sarcasm) and also love candles.

I reblogged "roaming in roses, where the river flows, and walking on sunshine." In "roaming in roses" the person who posted this was in the rose garden on campus, so the video and the caption go together perfectly. In the video there isn't much audio other than the footsteps of the person who posted it for most of the video. In other sections of the audio you can hear people talking and bird chirps, also you can tell that the main focus of the video is the roses themselves with their bright colors such as pink and yellow to provide striking visuals.

In "where the river flows" the person who posted it was at the creek on campus. So the title could have been "where the creek flows" rather but either way rolls with me. In the audio you can hear birds chirping, the collective mumbo jumbo of voices in the background, the sounds of the water rushing through the creek, and the footsteps of the person who recorded the video. As for the visuals of the video you can see the sheen of the sun rays on the crystal clear water and the fallen bridge with strong colored caution tape. 

In "walking on sunshine" the person who posted it seemed to be at some sort of crop field in Chico. The only audio i noticed was the sound of the footsteps of whoever recorded the video and the occasional sound of wind against the microphone. The visuals were the main focus of the video with the immediate foreground being mostly dirt with some patches of dead grass across the dirt field. Also i noticed that the surrounding trees mostly were leaf-less and life-less.

These three posts were all conveying the surrounding natural boundaries of chico, ranging from rose gardens to creeks to crop fields. I noticed that most of the audio of all of the videos were mostly the sound of footsteps and the sounds of the natural world around them, with two of the videos having sounds of human voices in them. I really liked seeing these nature oriented videos of the city i currently reside in.

I reblogged "this is my space, big, yellow and open, and inside my bedroom wall." In "this is my space" the caption and the picture go well together because the title states a sense of ownership to their certain space. The description talks about they like how the natural light pours into their space and how it also casts shadows at the same time, they also go on to describe how lines affect the horizontal and vertical aesthetics of the picture. I like how they used google earth to capture this image.

In "big, yellow and open" the caption depicts the picture perfectly because the main focus and most noticeable part of the picture is the big yellow house. The description talks about how they view the walkways as boundaries and "subspaces," also i liked how the poster compared their space to the personality as "quite open."

In "inside my bedroom walls" the caption and the picture go together well because the picture is confined to everything inside their bedroom walls themselves. The description states they feel that the bedroom walls are a boundary separating their private world from their public world, being the hallway. I like how the poster included their roommates side of the room, just as they said it would feel "incomplete" without it.

The three posts I chose to reblog are all very creative, with the use of google earth to a nice and simple drawing on a piece of paper. Two of the posts included the concept of boundaries, which I liked since I haven't seen the use of it in posts yet.

Inside My Bedroom Walls:

The walls are the boundaries that enclose my private space from the hallway public space. I chose to draw a picture of my room because I could personalize it as much as I wanted to. The “up” of my room is towards the blue bed and the “down” part of the map is toward the door. I included not only my side of the room but also my roommate’s side because the picture felt incomplete without her side.

Big, Yellow and Open

My space is in the front right sitting area in the house to the left. Taking into account that this is east Fourth Street “up” or north would be if one was facing the front of the street while in my space. Some important parts to look at in my space is the yellow house to the right that also is home to a lot of my friends. This house has an inner walk way separate from the side walk that leads to my home and space. Which is nice because friends are welcome to come over when they please and enjoy my space as well. With the inner walk way connecting both homes my space has a large sub space creating an extension of boundaries. Being that it is an open space its boundaries are up for interpretation, the part of my space that I write about is that open corner on the right of the house on the left. But being that it is an open space and both homes being connected all, including passer byers on the sidewalk, are free to peek, hear, come into my space. With it being an open space, this can be on purpose or not. I included the inner walk way, side walk and house to the right to show how my personal space is quite open in terms of boundaries and personally non personal it in reality is.

This is my space, Chico stadium from an Ariel view. I screen shot this view courtesy of Google Earth, as you can see the picture is a little dated. Notice the lack of green paths in the bottom left hand corner, that is what I can see i do not know of any other dated items maybe you all can find some. I like this picture of the Stadium because the natural light opens up the space and at the same time it casts dark shadows. It also is very linear with the lines around the track, horizontal lines from the bleachers and the lines that make up the game. The overall shape is oval with lines as a pattern compared to the squared off spaces surrounding it.

Coordinates Buildings and roads surround my space like white on rice, also the creek in this picture cuts the map in half, cutting off a direct path to the other side without a bridge. The buildings gather people and subject everyone to a concentrated space, the roads provide a pathway for cars to drive on and people to walk on. Up on the map goes south west and towards downtown Chico.

I reblogged "serenity in between, silence is golden, and by the creek." In "serenity in between" the caption goes well with the description, the poster describes a bustling setting with the "peaceful" sound of nature. I like how the poster drew a comparison with the sound of human interaction and just unnatural sound in general with the sound of nature. In "silence is golden" the caption fits nicely with the description, the person who posted this described how a train is passing by and she starts describing memories she associates with the sound of a train, I thought this was really cool and creative moment in the description. In "by the creek" the caption goes with the description, the poster talks about how the flow of the creek sounds "peaceful" just like the first post I reblogged. The poster also goes on to call the creek a "privately public place" which is a creative and different way to look at a space. The three posts I reblogged were all generally creative and two of them related the sound of nature to be "peaceful." The concept of people focusing strictly on their sense of hearing is really cool to me and was very interesting to read.

Serenity in Between

I could hear students unlocking and locking bikes as their classes were winding down.  There were small groups of students having quiet discussion around me.  The occasional car would drive by and I could hear the sound of the tires on the asphalt.  The blaring car horn that disrupted the peaceful serenity around me. As class let out there was a rush of students leaving the building.  The doors were opening and shutting, there were many footsteps from students eager to leave.  The rush of people moving from one place to another almost overpowered the beautiful nature around me.  As the traffic died away and students dissipated, nature once again was the main sound around me.  I could hear birds singing above me and the wind whispering through the tall tree tops.

Silence is Golden

As I sit here and evaluate the sound of my space I notice the slight rumble of a train passing by. I hear the constant buzz of the fan and it’s soothing in spite of the slightly awkward feeling that sitting in total silence leaves me with. The train makes me happy because it makes me think of trips to San Francisco. A jingle of my dog who is visiting and it’s time to snuggle up on the couch. Despite the non existence of music or Netflix in the background I am surprising comfortable and content with the quiet.

By The Creek

I spend a lot of time at the creek on campus. I find the flow of the water beneath the bridge to be very calming. It is nice to have a peaceful little escape between classes where I can just clear my thoughts, enjoy the liquid of the water flowing at its steady pace, and relax my mind enough to forget any problems I might be having. People are not very far from this spot, but their constant chatter seems to be covered by the sound of the creek flow. It is easy to get lost in the peace that seems to overwhelm me when I am here. There is nothing but beauty and solitude in this privately-public space. It is almost as if no one else exists and I am alone just listening to the serene sound of nature take me away.

Spatial Observation Post Response 1

I reblogged "One-Five Oasis, Rose Garden, And Upper Bidwell" In "One-Five Oasis" I personally don't get the connection between the caption and the post, but the description perfectly depicts how I would see my backyard as well. The person who posted this describes the natural beauty and how she will use it as a tool to use for specifically this class. 

In "Rose Garden" the caption and picture picture fit nicely, but I would've like to have seen a more creative or meaningful caption. The description isn't the most personal description but the person who posted this goes on to describe her view of the garden as "magnificent, extraordinary, and beautiful."

In "Upper Bidwell" the caption is more of stating where this picture was taken rather than a descriptive caption. The person who posted this talks about how everything comes together in this natural space, and describes it as "demonstrates beauty and how it is an essence of nature." Which is a great way to describe her view of this particular space.

All of the posts I reflagged capture the natural beauty of places around Chico such as my post. Which is probably why I chose these three great snapshots of the natural beauty of the world around us.

Unnatural naturalness While I listen in, I hear the natural flow of the creek, the ruffling of trees from the wind. But simultaneously I hear the unnaturalness of music playing loud from a car, custom ringtones going off and the sound of a skateboard in motion. As I stand here listening to the naturalness of the creek and trees, I also hear the footsteps on the unnatural metal frame bridge. The clash between the natural and unnatural sounds come together to create an opera of noise.

Observation Post 1: One-Five Oasis

For my spatial observation, I selected my backyard. This view captures the beauty in nature that I have easy access to at home. It is a relaxing, non-distracting, calming environment that will help me develop ideas and give me the space I need in order to be able to concentrate on the future tasks I will be given in this class.

This post reminds me that wherever home may be, it's a place where both productivity and relaxation occurs.

The space that I decided to observe was my bedroom. It’s extraordinarily small and closed off from the rest of the apartment, making it solitary, but hearing my roommates laughing or the train from my window are constant reminders that you can never be entirely isolated from your surroundings. I come here primarily to relax and sleep; most of my studying and socializing occur in the living or dining areas of our apartment, which is why the desk is such a small part of the picture.

Upper Bidwell-

This particle space that I have chosen demonstrates beauty and how it is an essence of nature. The water rushing down stream, all the rocks and shrubs come together to create a natural space, where one may visit during a hot day to cool off or just simply show admiration of this particular space.

Perspective This is a picture of the creek on campus from my perspective, which looks peaceful, natural, relaxing, and calming. So it looks like you have a perspective of my perspective of this pictures perspective. That’s quite a perspective.
