Why couldn't Envy just let him be delusional from insomnia and overall sleep deprivation? Why? It was fun, mostly harmless, and this late into the insomnia game sounded like a great idea. Immediate second suspicion was the fact that they seemed prepared for Ed's special brand of late night with the couch already having a blanket, and he did like documentaries. A lot. He squinted over at the other, "Is this bribery? This feels like briery." he accused before pointing them, "And don't you dare throw me over you shoulder again to carry me upstairs. You're way too comfortable with that and Al is way too supportive of it." just because it worked convincing him to stay home one time didn't mean that it had to be the usual go to method of dealing with him.

Ed was quiet and, with minor reluctance, eyed the couch again, thinking it over, "...what kind of documentary?" he wasn't sure if he hated that Envy knew him this well or if he actually liked and appreciated it. It was way too late to figure out and decide either way.

Hands held up as if in surrender, Envy bit at the inside of his cheek to keep their smirk from growing any wider; although it was difficult with Edward eyeing him suspiciously. Some nights were easier than others when it came to coaxing the blonde back to bed and at this point Envy had learned when to pick his battles-- of course he could always resort to the carrying option if Ed's stubbornness bordered on harmful.

It seemed that option might not be necessary tonight.

"I guess the only way to find out is by going over there." There was a teasing lilt in his voice while Envy did just that and walked off to claim a spot on the couch. It was dark in the living room, the only light coming from the t.v. as whatever was left on played, so hopefully the blonde might be encouraged to sleep... Maybe.

Why would he do it? Ed wasn’t even sure he had a good answer for to that question. All he knew is that enough people had suffered. There had been enough death during the Promised Day, and he wasn’t looking to add to the body count. He was still reeling from the death of Greed, which had got him thinking about the remaining homunculi. He had spared Pride’s life. Pride was getting a second chance, although he didn’t seem to have any of his memories left, but still… Didn’t Envy deserve the same? “I think everyone deserves a second chance. Even you.”  

Ed leveled his gaze at Envy. “It’s not going to be easy, though. I might be able to convince them to keep you alive, but I doubt they’ll let you out any time soon. You hurt too many people and caused too much pain. It will be hard for them to forget or forgive that.” There were still a lot of details to work out, and Ed wasn’t even sure if he’d get his way. But that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to try. “Right now, you need to cooperate with the military, and show them you’re willing to change. I need your word that you’re going to try and not do anything dumb like try to hurt someone.” Envy still hadn’t answered his question of whether or not he’d be agreeable to it. Whether or not he could handle being around humans without trying to kill anyone. There’d only be one show at this. Envy would only get one more chance.

The sin could only stare on in confusion. Despite the role he had played in this whole mess-- the only fucking reason for his entire existence-- Edward was still sitting across from them and suggesting they should get a second chance. Hell, Envy couldn't say that he truly deserved the first one. Greed had tried to start new, even managed to build his own little place during the century he was gone and fill it with other runaways, and what did their older brother get in return for his actions? Boiled alive and melted down to be reborn, reshaped.. corrected. Because that was the consequence for defying Father or veering away from his design.

It never crossed his mind that the punishment they would receive might be anything short of death. The last few days were filled with so much chaos and seemed to pass by so quickly that Envy hadn't thought about the possibilities of their situation; they had simply resigned their fate over to the executioner's proverbial axe. But now there was this.

"...You're actually serious about this.. aren't you?" The mumbled question didn't hold any of his usual bite. The sin cleared his throat, clearly uncomfortable, then tried to save some face by shooting the blonde a wry grin, "Alright. I can play nice with others, pinky promise.. Where do we go from here?"

It certainly wasn't an ideal situation, stuck with little to no light source, and although Envy could think of worse moments from the past it was still unnerving not being able to see. Despite their discomfort, a small laugh slipped out at the blonde's statement and Envy shot back with "Let's be honest now.. we probably needed 'all the therapy' before we got here." before sitting cross legged on the floor. "We'll have to actually get out first."

"That looks... Really fucking bad." He couldn't think of a better way to put it. Whatever happened had done a number on the other and Envy wasn't about to sugar coat it. "What did you do?"
