Me spending time with people: joy abounds, we are all connected and there is hope!
Me 1 day later: I need to be left alone to gather the pieces of Me together
Me 2 days later: there is something very rotten at my core and I will almost certainly die unloved

That is a great challenge actually for your protagonist to have.
Ok but I've seen this thought about worldbuilding a lot and I absolutely hate it.
Your world doesn't need to be realistic, it needs to serve the plot.
That is its number one purpose. Nothing else. You don't need to invent the wedding rituals of the elves two continents over. It will not help your plot. In fact, it might actually restrict you.
Personally, I blame Tolkien. He invented a mythology, a map and a douzend languages for middle earth because that's the kind of nerd he was, but you don't have to do that!!! And don't listen to anyone talking about rain patterns and shit, no one cares about Mordors amount of rain days
The distinction is your world building needs to be believable. It's easy to assume that making your world as realistic as possible means it'll be believable, but if it doesn't serve your plot, it won't be. It'll be distracting and potentially present readers with plot holes that are more consuming than the story and characters you've presented them with.
I think some of the loneliness of autism is that you feel like you hurt people just by Interacting Wrong, but you don’t know how to Interact Right, and the more effort you put into it, the more exhausted you are and the more artificial it comes across (with the end result of people still being upset with you). and it’s not anyone’s fault for not liking Being Interacted With Wrong, and it’s not your fault for doing it so wrong, but it is very, very lonely.
does anyone have the “my wife is home” r/ambien post
