Katara confidently walks through the corridors, be it in republic city or FN. She and the audience sensing the thickening tension while the fire lord is tailing behind her, footstep barely audible, but you can see and feel the inevitable, knowing that everything that is happening and anything that is bound to happen, is from their own doing.

Fast forward to Katara in a room somewhere facing the balcony or a wide window, and with full conscious, pressing her back against the fire lord's strong and solid front, all while wondering hands plant themselves on her upper back, her arms, her hips before settling around her waist, fingers fidgeting the yellow scarf on her belt. He does all this while his mouth is somewhere north, like her hair or her neck. And bless agni she tilts her head sideways, exposing her tantalizing skin in front of him. Giving him permission to roam his open mouth on the flesh. Fingers hastily untangling the yellow scarf, her helping him, as they both silently agreed that he shouldn't even be a speck of presence for what they're about to do. No, no. Especially with her closing her eyes, letting out the sweetest, most addicting of moans when his mouth and tongue play with the sensitive spots just under her jaw. With the scarf thrown haplessly somewhere, he claims her mouth. And for the next chain of actions, agni, tui, and la agree to conceal.

Fast forward, in the fire lord's bedroom, two bodies unite and synchronize, illuminated by the moon and stars. Almost as if they're performing under it. Almost as if the sky and the stars willingly witness two celestial beings have finally belonged, despite destiny and fate and circumstance. His sturdy palms run and map the strong expanse of her back. His talented fingers, lightly and delicately tracing her spine from top to bottom to top. Studying her. Imprinting her to memory. Pushing her wild, wild hair to one side so he can feel her pulse on her neck. And with her being on top of him, she takes control. Giving her full autonomy of wanting and needing and just. Letting. Go. Because she gives so much and receives so little. And he lets her. Oh tui and la, of course he lets her. With his hands on her hips, he lets her. So she moans and wails and screams because she knows him. And she prays gratitude to the spirits, knowing he knows her.

Here, there's no judgment or justification. There's just them. Just zuko and katara.

LoK but make it taang while still toe-dipping toph's abandonment towards their children.

So toph and aang have 4 children; bumi, lin, suyin, and gyatso. The thing is, gyatso is the only Airbender out of the 4, but by the time he'd already shown signs, aang already dies.

Toph is in denial for a loooong time, she suddenly leaves without a word and ends up in the swamp where sometimes she will hear aang's laugh. Lin resents her for that.

It doesn't help that Bumi, a nonbender, still pursues military, leaving Lin to take care of the remaining 2 siblings. Sue and Lin fight a lot because Lin is so overbearing but sue is being so nonchalant about a lot of stuff (basically the canon stuff). Meanwhile young gyatso feels so lost without his parents and sometimes his siblings, he also ran away to meet the acolytes.

(Btw, I REFUSE with my whole entire being that aang plays favoritism among his children. He brings ALL of his children to the air temple because even though most of them aren't airbenders, the culture and philosophy are just as important).

Anyway fast forward, lin and gyatso eventually find toph in the swamp and it turns out Sue and bumi have actually visited her before and Lin didn't know this, but they come to understand why their mother left in the first place. Gyatso is like his older siblings but Lin rightfully stays angry, at her siblings for forgiving toph easily, at toph for leaving her with all these responsibilities, at aang for dying so quickly. She's just angry. But eventually they reconcile, although toph still decides to stay in the swamp for a little while.

Idk, I just like to think that toph conceals her insecurities and vulnerabilities too much and too often to the point where aang is the only one who can see those parts. And when he dies, a part of her also dies. So she decided to be vulnerable in the swamp where she can 'see' aang. Time and death are just illusion after all.

I feel like, out of the trifecta, taang would be the one to likely get into a situationship.

AND WITH EACH OTHER!! WITHOUT THEM KNOWING TOO!!

Katara would be like 'are you two dating?' and they'd be like 'what pfft no we're just friends' but friends don't do what they do aka aang resting his head on toph's lap for hours while toph traces his eyebrows/nose/cupids bow or toph stepping on aang's feet while they hug or aang likes to give her foot massage all the fucking time or sharing 1 straw in a drink or aang swipes her bangs from her face while she's yapping or resting his head on top of hers because he likes how short she is or tend to have trips together to gaoling or omashu or the air temple for a questionable period of time (and then they have the audacity to say they miss pranking people or some shit like that zuko is Tired)

And it drives the others MAAAAAAAAADDDD

I just know that katara gets lowkey h0rny every time she sniffs zuko's expensive cologne. She glides her nose on his collar or shirt and plants her palms on his waist, keeping him steady while letting out soft hums (and lowkey moans too) and zuko knows he's in for a treat.

(Personal hc: zuko's cologne would smell aquatic on the top note and slowly develop into something more soft wood or incense on the base note)

I like to think that futile devices is a zutara song in which katara started to realise her feelings for zuko and quietly, slowly, but ultimately falling in love with him and every little thing he does. But she realised it much too late. Always buried and concealed the feelings behind the notion that he's like her brother.

Multi Chapter Fics

The Slow Path: I’m pretty sure every Taang fan has accepted this as The Taang fic. A must read. Essentially Aang comes back after being gone for a few years and now the Gaang has to come back together to take down a new enemy force. And along the way they find love

The Long Game: UNDERRATED SEQUEL. Yes okay- It’s not finished and that might be why. But it’s a fantastic follow up to The Slow Path. Zuko’s Fire lord status is questioned, Toph is having night terrors, Katara is adjusting to become Fire lady, and Suki is dealing with PTSD. It has great GAang interactions and lots of T e n d e r Taang moments what more could you want? This is more of Gaang fic but Taang is still very front and center.

Practice Makes Perfect: Toph goes up to Aang and say ‘What if we practiced kissing each other haha jk... unless?’ and Aang replies with ‘That is a crazy idea hahahahaha....unless?’

Roommates: ..And they were roommates. Oh my god they were roommates

Entranced: Do you know Aladdin? It’s like the first few minutes of Aladdin but with its own twists and turns. There’s no genie but there IS poverty.

Fall of the White Lotus: A long ass really fleshed out fic. It’s centered around Zutara, but there is a really well developed Taang plotline that connects to it and it involves Koh soo you know it’s a good one. There’s so much that happens it’s hard to like pin this one down. But like you should read

The Princess and the Badger-Cat: This is just such a fun fic that has the whole Gaang in it and has really good friendship moments in it. Sokka is turned into a Badger-Cat, Pirates kidnap Katara, Zuko and Aang vibe. It’s just a good time. (There’s sweet Toph and Aang moments in it as well obviously but it’s not the center)

Operation Zutara: This is a Modern au and there’s so much that goes on in this fic but imma try to boil it down: Toph and Aang try to come up with elaborate schemes to get Zuko and Katara together, but they get side tracked by the sudden realization of their own feelings for each other. Lots of shenanigans in this story. Also getting Revamped currently and I’m super stoked about it! And despite its name it’s very Taang centric

Heartbeat: Currently in the making. Your soulmates name is written on your wrist. It’s canon verse and I’m a sucker for soulmate AU’s

Whisper Into the Sky: Tophs been traveling around with Aang for years and loving life. Until her parents want her to get married. Toph fights her way through suitors for her freedom

Ya’aburnee: ‘you bury me’ A declaration of one’s hope that they’ll die before another person, because of how difficult it would be to live without them. Avatars aren’t meant to belong – that’s as much as Aang can fathom.

Book 3: Fire: A completely different version of season 3. I believe they completed it before season 3 was even released, so it’s completely original and captivating. Aang gets help opening his chakras, Katara is a badass, and Zuko is moody. There is A LOT that happens in this fic and is so fun to read from start to finish. (Sweet Taang moments in between)

Between Heaven and Earth: Everyday I curse the fact that this isn’t finished, but its still 100% worth your time reading. Follows the journey of Toph and Aang (and the rest of the Gaang) after the war.

Listless Afternoons: Aang has some stuff to work out and Zuko forces him on a vacation. While ‘Vacationing’ in the fire nation Aang runs into a certain someone that’s looking for an escape too.

The Avatar’s Lover: Unfinished, but so good. Rumor has it that the Avatar’s Lover has great power and a certain spirit wants to harness it for themself

Past Mistakes: Unfinished 😪. Lao requests the Avatar to help his daughters plaguing nightmares
