Besides the little chickens, we also welcomed six of the sweetest creatures in the world — ducklings.
Each of them is different, which made naming and telling them apart much easier. Meet Lusia — the smallest yellow one; Neskar-Larkin — grey with a yellow collar, a very serious little drake, which is why he got a double name; Mizio — grey with stripes; Julia — black with a yellow bib and yellow little “slippers”; Kropek — as the name suggests, the one with spots; and Frida — our little black beauty.
Welcome on board, little ones <3
For now, the ducklings are still very scared, so we are working on socialization. Here they are, sitting on auntie Kinga’s lap :-)
There are many difficult and sad moments in our foundation life, but there are also happy ones — and those are the ones we love sharing the most :-)
After many discussions, extra fox-proofing, three years without a fox incident, and buying a bigger coop, we decided to welcome some new chickens.
Welcome on board, little ones!
For now, just a small sneak peek — more about our new residents soon.
At the moment they are still so scared that they run away as soon as they see us. We don’t know what they have been through before, but it probably wasn’t anything good.
They don’t know it yet, but they have just won the lottery. They will have a peaceful life, space to simply be chickens, and they will be loved.
That is a lot for an ordinary chicken.
Today is rainy and stormy. I spent all our walks running away from the rain.
I’m not entirely sure why, but this kind of weather always puts me in a nostalgic mood. It makes me want to look through old videos, photos, and all kinds of little keepsakes, of which — as a proper goblin — I have quite a lot.
I dug up this video: a true blast from the past — tiny Gloria and young Bemol. It feels like it was yesterday. Little Bemol passed away last year, and Gloria is now an older lady.
Time flies so quickly. What remains are leaves pressed between the pages of books, photographs, and little recordings like this one.
Morning bird vs. night owl 🐦🦉 I was ready for a peaceful morning walk… he was ready to file a complaint with management. Apparently, it was far too early for husky business. 😅
Today I want to remember Sabka and Dianka — two old shelter girls who are no longer with us, but will always stay in my heart.
They had spent most of their lives on a scrapyard, more like alarm systems than beloved dogs. Neglected, sick, and inseparable. Dianka had an old badly healed injury, Sabka had cancer.
I thought I was giving them a few good months. Sabka stayed with us for over two years, and Dianka lived to be 16.
They became home dogs instantly — gentle, loyal, wise. Sabka followed me everywhere. When the cancer came back and I had to let her go, she still tried to comfort me through my tears.
That is the love of a dog. Nothing compares to it.
After Sabka died, Dianka lost her spark and joined her two years later.
Their story is sad, but I never regretted adopting them. There is something deeply beautiful about giving an old, unwanted dog a safe and loving ending.
Sabka & Dianka, always remembered.
Mrówek — from a tiny chick with a twisted, disabled leg to a stubborn little rooster with quite a story.
He has been through more than he should have: neglect, a severe injury caused by other roosters, head surgery, and the amputation of his damaged leg. And yet he is still very much himself — feisty, determined, and deeply in love with his Elizka.
He needs more care than the others, but he is doing well. And we hope he will keep pecking us for things he disapproves of for a long time :-)
It started with a post: “geese to rehome.” At that time, we were looking for company for Bonnie, who was left alone again after Klaksio died.
When we arrived, it turned out that the geese were only a small part of a much bigger story. An elderly man had been taken to hospital, and dozens of animals he had collected were left without proper care. The next day, someone was supposed to come and kill and sell the farm animals.
We took as many as we could fit into the car.
26 lives in total: 2 rabbits, 3 guinea fowl, 2 geese, 1 duck and 18 chickens.
Some of them later found good homes, some sadly passed away because of earlier neglect and illness. Some are still with us today ❤
This collage is a small part of their story.
Two cockerels, a sunset, and a peaceful end to the day. 🐓🌅
e best remedy for post-work exhaustion and burnout? Obviously — a cat compress 😂 Greetings from Jawa ❤️
Day by day, gram by gram — from blind, helpless little beans to tiny, jumpy, curious mice 🐭❤️
Watching Piratka and Ciapka grow has been truly amazing. “Just” mice, some would say — pests to many, but to us they are two little miracles with a huge will to live.
This video is a small part of their story. A lot of stress, a lot of emotion, and a daily reminder that every life matters. Even the tiniest one.
Summer husky mode: no snow, no sled, but the same amount of energy.
A moment before his bike ride/run :-)
Matylda is making a guest appearance at my parents’ place. I took her with me because she needs eye drops and care, and Maciek stayed home alone for a few days and already has more than enough to do.
Matyldzia is absolutely delighted with the garden and the pond, although unfortunately she could only enjoy the water for a short while because of her sore little feet.
Goodnight <3
A moment of calm after another long day. A magical evening with mist rising over the fields, as if the world itself was breathing a sigh of relief. The animals are all taken care of. Time to sleep.
Goodnight from Hektor and Brutus, from their last walk of the day.
Good night from Ciapka and Piratka ❤ The girls are already so big, they look almost like adult mice, jump incredibly high, and I have to admit I’m a little afraid to take them out of the terrarium now, because they are completely unstoppable 😅
