The white Australian left's response to 10/7 has been fucking harrowing. A totally disproportionate care for Palestinians while throwing Aboriginal indigeneity under the bus.
At my city's Jan 26th Invasion Day rally I saw white Australians flying Palestinian flags and even "from the river to the sea" signs. At this point they're not even protesting Australia Day, they just showed up to use the plight of Blak folks as a platform to endorse revolution in the Levant.
I keep telling this story, but it bears repeating: on 10/7 I attended a Blak Deaths in Custody rally and about 40 people showed up. It was pathetic. Some Socialist Alliance members were even trying to sell badges and merch. They set up a fucking table and spent the whole rally chatting over the top of the Acknowledgment of Country and Indigenous speakers. An Aboriginal woman cried on stage while explaining that her son had been murdered by police while in custody weeks earlier, and these white socialist kids were chatting about printing flyers for their next book launch.
I heard the news about Israel on the bus home, and a week later a Free Palestine rally was held in the same location and nearly 1,000 people showed up, making national news.
The next day, the referendum to enshrine an Indigenous advisory voice into parliament was held, and Australia voted No.
We all know Australia is racist but it's still mind boggling how white radical leftist Australians, the descendents of actual colonisers, keep proudly announcing without a single shred of self-reflection that Israeli descendents of "colonisers" deserve to die for their heritage.
Fuck Australia with all my heart. Fuck my fellow Australian "leftists". Fuck you all for your double-standard. You don't even pretend to care about Aboriginal Australians or Jews, and it's embarrassingly transparent how little you care about Gazans. Stop using Palestine to roleplay your revolution fantasies.
