so in the yyh girls au i think that keiko, shizuru (who has two spirit swords thanks) and botan would go rescue yukina from tarukane's compound. instead of kuwabara's love connection shizuru is like i need to protect this sweet girl and of course the whole rescue mission is full of botan and shizuru moments and zero transphobic moments because i said so

anyways, they get to the compound and fight the toguro brothers (keiko is jacked, shizuru has two swords) and rescue yukina. hiei shows up too late, but their moment of who are you still happens and then he leaves

fast forward a little bit to the dark tournament and you have yukina begging keiko to let her fight one of the toguro's for her own revenge also hiei shows up to watch/protect (realizes she doesn't need protection in the process) but tries to hide from yukina and co cuz duh but genkai and botan spot him or something

also this is where yukina would meet touya who is amazed by her raw talent and power and then decides to train her to be an ice master after the tournament

- my health has been frustrating but i finally got a diagnosis and am on a treatment plan and am feeling better already (fuck interstitial cystitis i gotta say)

- my partner and i moved in with his parents so we're back in florida and it's been weird to be excited by that

maybe its bc i live in a place where forestry is one of the dominant industries but like tree planting rly isnt good. like the majority of the time its done by forestry companies to “offset” what they’ve cut down, and they almost always just plant fir & spruce monocrops and then they prevent the rest of the forest from naturally regenerating by spraying glyphosate, because they want to kill off the hardwoods that grow back since softwoods are worth more to the pulp industry… anything a company does that is supposedly “green” never is.

They aren’t actually replanting the forest, they’re building lumber farms in the middle of it and trying to pass them off as the same thing to people who think a forest is just trees because they live in a world mediated by images and have never been in an actual forest long enough to be able to tell healthy diverse growth from a struggling monocrop.

i already said this on instagram but let's remember that while the gender binary is colonial in creation and enforcement, identifying as non binary is not necessarily anti colonial, not necessarily radical, and does not mean that you are critical of the way that race interacts with gender, or capitalism interacts with gender for example. non binary people are not a monolith and the identity cannot allude to any other political positions or mean that the person is unlearning their misogynior or toxic masculinity for example. white people love to cling to a first or only marginalized identity to lessen race/class guilt which (among other things) has informed the white monopolization (dare i say colonization) of non binaryness in general (interesting considering that white people created the binary as we know it). i think this is largely a result of the idea that having this identity is inherently anti colonial, which is simply inaccurate and falsely obsolves people from being accountable to unlearning things and taking direct actions. i love non binary people and i am very much not binary, and i also am tired of seeing it used as a vehicle for white supremacy (power), under the guise of monolithic inherent or essential radical-ness. everyone is accountable for examining how they how they enact and perform gender (and how it interacts with other social constructs) in an oppressive society and holding a certain identity does not absolve you from doing that introspection.
