Hula: Preserving Native Hawaiian Language and Culture

This video talks about how important the native language of Hawaii is to hula dancing. Hula was originally a language that had a dancing aspect of it that portrayed Hawaiian culture to the fullest. When Hawaii became a state, the native language was made illegal in public. Hula is the only thing indigenous people of Hawaii have left of their language.

one example of racial micro-aggression is when someone places the phrase "not to be racists" in front of a patently racist statement. A slightly murkier example is someone replacing the word ghetto with unpleasant.

Miss Representation Trailer

American teenagers spend 31 hours a week watching TV, 17 hours a week listening to music, 3 hours a week watching movies, 4 hours a week reading magazines and 10 hours a week online, that’s 10 hours and 45 minutes of media consumption a day. The media is the message and the messenger. Girls are told from very early on in life that what’s most important is how they look, that their value and worth depends on that.

SA Speaks: The Hashtag: Creating Safe Spaces with People You’ve Never Met

Hashtags are a way to have space to find likeminded people, a place to congregate. A way to chat with anyone online, through hashtags to find online communities. Hashtags have a way to become offensive when directed towards certain groups of people, and can lead to large feminist, discriminatory or sexist disgruntlement. She talks about educating college students on what is hurtful, and what people of color or different ethnicities go through.
