“Fat people drain the healthcare system” fat people are often not very well off finically are overwhelmingly working class people who are constantly putting off medical care and needs for lack of being able to afford it. Looks like we also need to factor in how the societal stigma around being overweight leads to poorer health outcomes due to stress.

Meaning that shaming and blaming fat people for any health needs is likely contributing to the problem.

I had a hernia. My gp refused to refer me for surgery because I was "too fat." So my hernia got worse. Eventually I couldn't exercise because half my colon was outside the muscle wall.

When I got a new gp, I got the surgery. It was difficult and complicated surgery and I had to spend a week in the hospital because it had been ignored for so long.

In all medical records it will show that surgery on fat person was complicated and resulted in a long hospital stay compared to thin people. But the reason my surgery was hard was not because I was fat. It was because my gp refused treatment until it was almost an emergency. If I had gotten surgery when I first asked for it, it could have been a simple one night in the hospital deal.

Our health is not complicated by fatness as much as it is complicated by the way doctors treat us because we are fat.

The IRS website is EXCELLENT.  They allow you to look up your past returns, and have every bit of information you MIGHT POSSIBLY NEED!

Actually, with Free File it’s FREE

No $12 fee

That’s the point of free

If you make less than an income threshold you get to file for FREE using various softwares that are REQUIRED to be and stay free or they lose the license to work with the IRS as part of the Free File program

If you make more than that threshold you can file for FREE using the Free File Fillable Forms where you type in numbers and click “do the math” and the website does all your math for you

Also fuck turbotax, I’m not even allowed to use it because it’s inaccurate enough that I’d get fired since Congress mandated all IRS employees’ taxes need to be PERFECT as a condition of employment
