ββββ IF YOU HAD a dime for every time john worried over you as if you couldnβt take care of yourself, youβd have a decent chunk of money. it wasnβt like you could blame him, it was war, anything could happen.
besidesβyou loved it. the way he flocked to your side no matter what, wrapping you up and spinning you around to check on every part of you. he could ask you a trillion questions and still be worried.
it was charming. he would only relax a few days later, after long conversations about your day and how you were feeling. as well as what seemed to be twenty million kisses, but that was expected, wasnβt it?
he always looked to youβwhenever you stood, or were near himβfor a kiss. who were you to deny him? his beautiful doe eyes looking up to you. his hands finishing your hips softly, respectfully, lovingly.
never had an ill intention come from him, he was always so careful with you, taking his time to understand you and help you understand him. you were so important to him, he had to.
you could hear radar before the sirens, like usual. and like usual, you shot up alongside all the other nurses and doctors, and ran to the landing area. with them, you brought the patients into the medical center.
it was long before it was over, and you hadnβt been able to interact with john. the stress of the situation was heavy on you, leaving you tiredly dealing with patients in shock and dealing with instant flashbacks and survivors guilt.
michael davidson. he was a normal looking man, older and stronger than you. shock. unresponsive. aggressive possibility.
you read it all. surely they werenβt right? either way, you could see john, who was speaking with hawkeye outside the doors. he was on his way to you.
he always was when you needed him most.
if not them, you had other nurses and doctors around you. everyone was weary when you were all dealing with patients in shock. you had once assisted in another case where someone was aggressive out of shock. they would help you; you knew that more than anything.
you could see michaelβs eyes moving around, and you prepared yourself. which was the correct thing to do, you hardly registered when he grabbed you, shaking you harshly and yelling something you couldnβt hear.
his grip was tight, and you knew heβd leave bruises by the time he let goβyou could already see his handprint on your arms, right by your elbows.
it seemed everyone was thereβevery nurse in the room helping sedate him, every doctor helping by pulling you back and holding him down, and john rushing to you.
βhey,β he caught you carefully, βhey, are you okay?β he guided you away, out the door, after another nurse had taken your clipboard in the rush of everything. you didnβt notice.
you were silent, walking with john into his tent. when you were alone and he sat you down on his bed, kneeling between your legs and holding your hands close to his mouth.
βtalk to me, sweetheart.β his voice was soft, like his hands, and his eyesβand everything about it. it was clearer now, now that your emotions were frayed and you were too tired to mask anymore.
tears left your eyes before you could notice it. but it felt nice, crying as john held you softly in his arms.
soft. that was all you could say about him. soft, grounding, perfect, meant to be. there wasnβt much else to say, he was perfect.
βitβs just been,β you hiccuped, taking a soft deep breath, βstressful. super stressful.β you sighed. johnβs hands reached to carefully wipe away your tears.
βdo you need me to do anything?β john hummed, kissing your cheek softly. you smiled through the tears, letting more escape as he slowly wiped them away. he never seemed to be in a rush with you.
βno.β you muttered, pulling him to hug you. he did, eventually shifting to lay down, bringing you with him. you complied, like putty in his hands as he adjusted with you to comfortably lay down.
βi missed you today, sweetheart.β he kissed the top of your head. you snuggled closer to him, the sobbing early had brought you tranquility in his arms.
βi missed you too, baby.β you muttered, languidly kissing at his neck. at some point you fell asleep to john reading to you. his hands massaged your body, soothing the knots in your back.
when you needed him he seemed to be there. protecting you from harm, he really was your knight in shining armor. you knew it would be better when the war was done, when you and john lived together in a small town where he could be a father to the church and maybe a small family of your own, too.
βhey, itβs time for dinner.β he woke you up carefully. when you were awake, the first thing you saw was his face. his soft smile, studious eyes tracing your face. you smiled at him and pulled him into a soft kiss.
βokay, cmon.β you stood up and stretched, smoothing out your clothes (attempting to) and mentally preparing for the millions of questions and looks youβd get in the dining hall.
john stopped you outside, holding your waist softly, βif it gets to be too much, we can leave. okay?β he traced small circles on your hips. you nodded and kissed him again, smiling at his dopey smile.
βokay.β you grinned, tugging him inside with you. while the two of you got food and sat down, you could feel the looks. sitting across from radar and hawkeye, the two looked at you instantly.
hawkeye said your name casually, adding johnβs afterwards before looking back to you, βare you alright?β you could tell everyone heard his question and were waiting for your answer. it would be enough for them, so it didnβt bother you.
βyeah, it was just a long week. i feel better now, i got sleep.β you added the soft passive-aggressive joke to the end to prove your point.
you couldβve added that john helped you too, but he wasnβt a massive fan of attention. neither of you were, but you both worked together, and you led him through the spotlight whenever you had it on you both.
βthatβs good to hear.β margret smiled, softly touching your shoulder in a motherly fashion. you smiled up at her before she sat down and left you and john to eat and talk quietly.
once you were done, the two of you chose a stroll around the camp together, johnβs arm wrapped around you holding you to him, and you smiling up at him. it was beautiful.
you loved when your dear john was oh so protective of you.

fluff | friends to lovers
ββββ FOR THE entirety of your academic years you spent at welton academy, you could always remember neil being there. somewhere within not only your memory, but eye sight.
he was your best friend, and quite frankly the first friend youβd made at the academy. which led you to a problem, for a long while (a week), neil had been acting differently. he was harder to find, and whenever you did find him, he was talking to one of his friends quietly and ending the conversation when he saw you.
you tried not to let it affect you, but it was hard when you were seeing less and less of him. sure, you were just as good of friends with meeks and pitts, but you could only spend so much time reading while they worked.
thatβs where you found yourself today, sitting on a makeshift seat on the floor (consisting of your uniform blazer) with a book held in your hands. meeks was busy with the radio, and pitts was working with him.
it was quiet, the soft hum of the schools old electricity system was a soothing background noise as you flipped through the pages of the book. additionally to soothing background noise, there was the occasional soft clinks of whatever meeks and pitts needed hitting the table.
theyβd been working on the radio for so long you were very surprised to find that they had yet to finish the project.
βhey guys,β neil walked through the small entrance of the boysβs dorm. someone had told him that this was where you spent your time away from neil and his odd behavior, βcan i talk to you?β he asked when your eyes met from afar.
with a soft sigh, you complied, marking your page on the book and taking your blazer off the floor. you followed neil to your dorm, where you sat on your bed and he began to pace in front of you.
βso, i like this person.β he starts, and with his causal words your heart drops to your feet, βi donβt know how to tell them, or even talk to them about it. can you help?β he finished the anxious pacing to stop in front of you, waiting for an answer.
βi, uh, yeah i can help.β you hummed, the poor attempt at masking your sadness seemed to work. if it hadnβt worked, neil said nothing. he was quiet, and grinning now.
βyouβre an angel!β he cheered, finally taking a seat next to you on your carefully made bed.
βwell i mean, you should really be yourself. you could probably get them flowers, if they like them. i know if someone got me flowers iβd swoon,β you didnβt know he was making a mental checklist of the things you said you liked, keeping them in mind for later.
and afterwards, he ran to knoxβs dormitory, knocking and waiting patiently. for knox to open the door. when he did, he was smirking; βso it worked?β he asked, stepping aside for neil to walk in. neil complied, seating himself at knoxβs desk facing the bed.
βit did work, i just need to figure out their favorite flowers and chocolate. would you help me?β neil folded his hands in his lap, waiting patiently for an answer.
βyeah, sure. you owe me, though.β knox reached out a hand, and neil shook it. tomorrow was a saturday, meaning he had until sunday to get everything, and until monday to go on a date.
βyeah, of course.β neil thanked him and left, finding his own room a welcoming place. inside, todd was reading and already ready for sleep. the boy smiled kindly at todd when he entered.
βanything happen thatβs making you walk so happy?β todd asked, placing his bookmark in the spine of the pages he was on, and setting the novel to the side.
βknox is doing me a favor tomorrow.β he smiled. when todd implored for more details, neil told him everything.
βyouβre really gonna ask them out? need me to help with anything?β todd offered.
βno thanks, just be yourself. youβre their other best friend.β neil changed, and that was it. the night was quiet, and even in slumber, he could only see you. you infected his dreams with that charming smile of yours, and the gentle tone you used whenever you were talking to him.
he had no idea what to do if this didnβt work out, he really did like you. he could think long and hard about everything he wanted to do for you, like spending time with you more than now, and being able to hold you in the ways he wanted to so badly now, and kiss you.
god did he dream of kissing you, he could never admit how much he did. how could he? wouldnβt that be weird? he figured it was better kept a secret.
when he woke up the next day, he rubbed at his eyes. saturday, he reminded himself, itβs saturday. he rose up to his elbows, finding todd awake already and at his desk.
βmorning, how long have you been up?β neil sat up at the edge of his bed, rubbing his face carefully.
todd looked over, βnot too long. good morning.β he hummed, turning to look back at his desk. neil didnβt take too long getting ready, he had a long day ahead of him.
you, on the other hand, found yourself lazing around as you got ready. you shoved a dime book into your sweater pocket, and pulled your shoes on. after you grabbed your wallet, you left your room.
you knew today would be the best day to buy any new books you wanted to, and so you decided thatβs what youβd do.
βhey, knox.β you fretted the boy when he came to stand next to you, finding you leaning against the wall by the stairs, waiting for them to clear up a little.
βhey. whatβre you doing?β he asked, standing in front of you and shoving his hands in his pants pockets.
βgonna go to town, i wanted a new book. whatβs up?β you replied, fiddling with the wallet in your pocket. you didnβt mind knox keeping you company, he was a good natured friend and you liked to talk to him.
βi need some advice for chris. what flowers should i get her? like, what are your favorite flowers.β knox asked, rubbing the back of his neck when he looked down at his shoes, βchocolates too? youβve got good taste, so i figured itβd be best to ask you.β he mumbled.
βwell,β you hummed, and promptly told him. he grinned, thanked you, and looked at the stairs. they werenβt clear enough for you to easily slide through.
βgot any books in mind to buy?β he opened the door for a new conversation. you smiled, and the conversation was nice and brief. you hadnβt noticed neil peeking around the corner. when you noticed the stairs were clear, you wished knox a good day and left.
with you gone, knox met neil halfway down the hallway, his hands sliding back into his pockets and a grin finding his way onto his face again.
knox told neil everything, and together the two took a short walk through the shortcut to the town. strategically placed was the flower shop, which also happened to sell chocolates and stuffed animals. it wasnβt far from the bookstore, or the small cafe neil knew you liked.
knox peered out, not seeing you. he and neil ran fast across the street, and made their way to the flower shop quickly.
inside, he found only an old lady behind the counter. she smiled kindly at the boys as they entered. knox promised to keep watch, to make sure you didnβt see them. he noticed you walking down the street, but your eyes were focused on where you were walking.
once you entered the store, neil was already checking out the three important things. he had your favorite flowers, your favorite chocolates, and a stuffed animal of your favorite animal.
he refused the bag, dropped money into the tip jar, thanked the kind owner, and left with knox. strategically holding all three items, neil said goodbye to knox as the boy jogged away to do his own thing.
neil waited patiently for you to exit the store.
βneil!β you exclaimed, βdidnβt think iβd see you. whatβre you doing in town?β you had yet to see the flowers and chocolates in his one hand, or the stuffed animal in his other hand.
βthought iβd surprise you.β he took a deep breath, βlisten, i really like you and i was just wondering if youβd like to go on a date with me?β he asked, holding up the flowers and other things he bought for you.
you gasped with a smile, accepting the flowers and chocolates. βiβd love to, neil.β you hugged him, and could feel his heart racing.
βthank god,β he mumbled, βi was worried.β he rubbed the back of his neck.
βiβve liked you for awhile, neil.β you laughed, βyou had nothing to be worried about.β you placed your hand carefully on his cheek, and pulled him in to place a kiss on his other cheek. smiling when you stood back again.
βso, what should we do?β
βweβre going right now?β

GIFT GIVING πγ €Χγ €πΌ ΰ£ͺ πγ €Χγ €β james potter x reader christmas breaks spent at his house was the best thing you could do.
fluff | friends to lovers
ββββ WHEN YOU woke up in the potter manor christmas day, you didnβt expect it to be because the three of your friends - james, sirius, and remus - had been violently shaking you awake for a long time.
the three greeted you with wide smiles, accepting the usual morning hug with the same wide smiles unmoved. you grabbed a sweater (whoβs sweater it was, you had no clue - they seemed to show up randomly in your bags) and followed them downstairs to where jamesβs parents were waiting.
βgood morning, everyone.β jamesβs mom greeted the four of you, pulling everyone in separately for a hug. she held you the longest, running her hand through your hair and kissing your head. you had always been her favorite (even if she didnβt say it).
βokay mom,β james huffed, βdonβt hog my friend.β he reached for your hand and tugged you to him. you smiled at james and took the spot on the carpet next to him, and managed to miss the glance jamesβs mom gave his dad.
with the gifts handed out, you spent time with your dear friends opening every gift and have a special reaction for each. you relied heavily on βthank youβ for a response to everything.
from jamesβs parents; you got new clothes and book and chocolate, from sirius and remus (who both did joint presents for everyone) you got new vinyls, and from james you got a bracelet.
he even assisted in putting the bracelet on, sending a fluster of butterflies rampant in your stomach. after gifts and putting them away, you ate brunch with everyone.
it was peaceful to spend christmas break away from hogwarts here, in the warmth of the potter manor beside your best friends. you had never once taking advantage of it, enjoying every second you stayed in this house.
now you sat, quiet and peaceful, in the room assigned to you this time and every other time, without anyone bothering you. for now, at least, no one was bothering you.
βhey,β james slid your door open (had he knocked?), βcan i come in?β he carefully asked, looking like a wounded puppy walking in with wide eyes looking at you where you sat at the window.
ββcourse james, cβmon.β you beckoned him over, patting the seat beside you. he took it without another thought, holding a second box in his hand.
βi got you something else, but i didnβt wanna give it to you downstairs. moony and pads wouldβve lost it if i got you more than them.β he smiled lopsided and handed you the carefully wrapped gift.
you took it in your hands, it was light, (like youβve said before,) wrapped with precision, and well-thought about. the wrapping paper wasnβt like the one jamesβs parents had - this one didnβt have snowflakes like that one, it was covered in hearts and hearts galore.
βjames,β you gushed over the small box, βwhat is it?β you met his eyes, watching you with a misty layer resting over the brown irises youβd come to love.
βyou have to open it to find out, you idiot.β james scoffed, flicking your forehead carefully (god forbid he ever actually hit you and inflicted pain).
you tore through the wrapping paper, smiling at the clearly handmade necklace that had his initials and was in his favorite color.
when you looked back up to gush over the beauty (rather than the box this time), you found james fishing under his shirt to pull out a necklace just like yours - your initials and your favorite color replacing his on your version.
βjames,β you were at a loss for words, βhelp me put it on?β you held out the necklace with such delicacy. youβd never want to break it before you even got to wear it.
he did, and you let it hang above your shirt. you were too busy smiling down at where his initials reached on your chest to see him smiling at you.
βdo you like it?β he was careful as he spoke.
βof course i do!β you gasped, βitβs beautiful. did you make it?β you smiled at him now (much to his delight) with a fond look in your eyes that had his heart warm and beating faster than normal.
βyeah, i thought youβd like it i guess.β
βyou know me so well.β you hummed.
there wasnβt much else to be said now, your legs had found themselves (at some point, somehow,) intertwined with jamesβs legs on the cushions of the windowsill, looking out it.
at least you were, james had his eyes solely trained on you. warmth filled him despite where he sat beside the cold glass window.
maybe it was you, he noticed, your vibrant personality that shone above everyone elseβs, your kind smile and caring actions towards people you didnβt even like - you had mean bones, but you had more kind ones.
he decided then that thatβs why he was so warm - you. you kept him warm and happy, and maybe thatβs all he wanted.
βitβs now or never.β lily had told him, one day when he was seeking solace on what to do regarding the ever piling feelings he had towards you. he liked you, and god did he need to tell you before it was too late.
βcan iβ¦ can i tell you something?β he hesitated, suddenly his hands were clammy and his heart was (if possible) beating faster minute after minute. it caught your attention what he said, and you looked away from the snowy landscape in front of you to see his eyes drilling into yours.
βmhm, of course.β you smiled. it was your smile that made him realize how badly he needed to tell you.
βi like you,β he sighed, βwell i think i love you, but i know i like you. and not in a friendly way, i really really like you.β james wasnβt looking into your eyes anymore, his hands were much more interesting it seems.
βitβs fine if you donβt like me back,β he started.
βwell if you had given me a second james youβd know i felt the same way, you idiot.β you were smiling wider, and james saw you in a different light.
no longer were you the quietly charming first year, or pranking second year, or focused third year. you werenβt even the calm and charming fourth year you were last year - you were jamesβs first love, a beautiful and loving fifth year.
βreally?β he spoke breathlessly, looking to you for any signs of lying or joking. when you nodded, and reached out for his hand, he knew. and it made so much more sense.
βcmon, itβs cold over here.β you had his hand in yours, and you brought him to the messy bed. he sat in front of you, your back facing the pillows behind you.
you were too busy wrapping james into a hug and pulling his head to rest comfortably on your chest to notice sirius and remus peeking through.
βabout bloody time.β sirius used his foot to kick the door wider open, letting himself in with remus following - obviously scolding the dark haired boy.
βno matter, moony, itβs alright.β you smiled, waving them over. there was plenty of space.
and so the four of you, together, spent the rest of the morning and a good chunk of the evening on your bed in the potter manor. maybe it was because you were fifteen, and had so many fears surrounding growing up, but you wouldβve traded anything to spend even another minute where you sat that day.
you were happy, james was happy, sirius was happy, and remus was happy. it was all you needed.

COLD NIGHTS πγ €Χγ €πΌ ΰ£ͺ πγ €Χγ €β percy jackson x reader you could spend every day with him like this.
fluff | established relationship
ββββ NORMALLY, THE camp wasnβt cold or filling with snow, but this year was different: with enough people begging chiron to let the snow into camp, he finally agreed. so layers of snow filled camp grounds, and snowball fights were common to see.
everyone trained inside now, and hot chocolate was almost always available if you had your chalice.
you, however, werenβt a big fan of how cold it had gotten. yes of course you loved the snow; seeing the ares kids battle apollos kids in snowball fights, the stroll twins pulling pranks using the most common resource around them, and snowmen everywhere from more apollo and aphrodite kids.
what you were a big fan of, was spending cold nights curled into your boyfriends bed. thatβs where you were now, wrapped in his arms on his bed with layers of blankets over the both of you.
your hands had long since been tangled into the mess of curls on his head, legs in a messy heap under the blankets, and his hands raking up and down your back.
this is what you would choose to do for the rest of your life, feeling his heartbeat against your own, the warmth radiating between the both of you was greater than what the blankets would provide.
βyou sleeping?β his voice wasnβt more than a soft murmur, the vibrations of his words was felt through his body, and now was one you could feel.
βnot yet. you?β you scooted closer - if that was possible - to him and didnβt bother moving to look up at him.
βno. warm though, you warm, baby?β he asked you, tightening his arms around you.
βmhm.β you hummed.
there wasnβt a need to say anything else after that, the peace and quiet between you two spoke well enough. you imagined living with percy, somewhere in new york (probably close to his mom and step-dad, which youβd never mind - mrs. jackson was the sweetest woman ever) and spending days like this.
no responsibility, no monsters after you, nothing. this is what you wanted, you remembered the dreams that came before you were in camp, and even more memorable when you had started staying here.
dreams of a boy with black, curly hair and sea green eyes, the two of you sitting at the beach side with laughter in the background. your hands laid intertwined between you and him, and the waves crashed against the wet sand a mere few feet away.
it was nothing but blissful peace.
βwanna visit my mom for the holidays? she says she got you some presents.β percyβs hand began to trace over some imaginary shape on your back.
βof course, perce, of course i want to.β you smiled against his shoulder, brwathing in his cologne mixed with salty seawater - he smelt like your percy, and it was all you needed to close your eyes and basically fell asleep.

fluff | enemies to lovers
ββββ GOING TO hellton academy was something youβd never seen yourself doing. but here you were, standing quietly in the open field near the courtyard listening to some boy - whoβs name you couldnβt remember (had he even told you?).
βso my dad agreed to buy me a new sports car!β he laughed his overly cheerful rich guy laugh, one of his friends beside him copying the same thing.
it was much better than the usual banter between you and a large majority of the school. for some reason, since your arrival, the boys of the school either tried to date you, hated you, or never spoke to you and avoided you like the plague.
from the corner of your eye, you could see the cluster of boys running around in their usual adolescent carelessness with mr. keating. you quietly began brooding, trying to listen to whoever was in front of you.
after awhile (far too long for you to remember, but by now mr. keating and his class had gone inside and the bell was ringing) the boy had left and you were left outside alone.
the silence of flustering leafs around you and brought a sort of peacefulness through you for once. it was rare for you to find peace here at welton with everything around you. more like everyone around you, it was irritating, and you had hated it for your entire life here at welton.
βalone as always, angel?β the voice behind you was the last one you had wanted to hear. you didnβt even need to turn around to know who it was, you were fine keeping your eyes trained on the tree line in front of you.
βyes, dalton.β you hummed quietly. after almost an entire month of dealing with constant doubt from your peers, it had been more and more difficult to find the energy to fight back. youβd given up.
βwow; no snarky remarks? who are you and what have you done with our school angel?β he teased, walking closer. you sighed, closing your eyes and taking a deep breath before walking off silently back to the school building.
you didnβt hear leafs crunching behind you, which helped you safely assume that charlie wasnβt walking behind you like he would typically do.
you were left along on a quiet walk through the building.
the easiest thing to find was the library, also subsequently the quietest and easiest place to escape. you found solace in the peace and quiet that was now engulfing you.
your usual seat was - as it always was - empty where it sat in the farthest back corner of the library. it was closest to the best place in the school. of course, what took first place was your dorm.
βjeez, you look like a loser back here.β charlie chastised. it seemed like everywhere you went, he was somehow able to find you. you sighed silently.
βdo you need something, dalton?β you closed your book in front of you, turning on the chair to look at him patiently. you knew this was exactly how to irritate him.
βyeah; mind if i sit?β he gestured to the seat beside you.
βoh, no go ahead. i was leaving, anyways.β your mouth formed into one of its forced smiles, pulling back an open seat and standing up. you didnβt bother to grab your book, leaving it on the plain wooden table as you spun on your heel and walked off.
if charlie dalton was going to continue to make your life worse, youβd be nothing but the same towards him. the exhaustion from earlier had switched to anger whenever he was around you.
but maybe you didnβt hate him all that much. sure, he was the bane of your existence here, and every day around him was worse than the last, you couldnβt help but admire him.
maybe it was weird, and maybe you were an idiot for liking him and wanting him to actually treat you with something other than sarcastic teasing and insults. you were also nothing more than a girl at an all boys school.
the next day, waking up in your dorm on a cold saturday morning, you found yourself sitting on the window sill with the window open and a book in your hands.
like every other weekend, you planned on spending it alone in your dorm for the most part. you did have the desire to find a quieter place within the trees of welton, but that could wait.
in your defense, every other weekend had gone without anyone disrupting you.
but apparently it had to change.
four rather harsh knocks sounded on your door, and you pulled it open to reveal paul (the boy from yesterday whoβs name you had remembered five minutes after he left you alone) standing awkwardly with a bouquet of flowers and a small stuffed animal.
βhello, here iβve gotten these for you.β you could already tell he hadnβt gotten the stuffed animal recently; but the flowers were fresh and thriving. it brought a natural smile over your face.
βpaul, these are beautiful. thank you. was there anything you needed?β you kept the smile on, holding the flowers in the crook of your elbow and stuffed animal was held in your hand.
βi was wondering if youβd like to go on a date tomorrow? just you and me, maybe see a movie or go out for dinner?β it was obvious paul had rehearsed this, and you wouldβve gone with him on the date, but someone had other plans.
βshe already has plans, patrick boy.β charlie dalton, in all his irritating glory, had been walking down the hall long enough to see paul handing you flowers and a wide smile across your face forming with the sweet gestures.
βwith you?β paul rose an eyebrow, turning to fully face charlie - who reached the same height as him. you, still standing in the doorframe, rolled your eyes as everything went down.
βyeah, with me. howβs that so unbelievable?β charlie pulled an intimidating factor out of himself, somehow managing to stand taller than paul.
βwhatever.β paul huffed and turned to you again with a less annoyed look, βif you change your mind, come find me. iβd be fine with re-planning too.β paul smiled, kissed your hand, and walked away.
βdoes everyone but me know about our plans, dalton?β you finally addressed him.
βno, but we might as well find something to do.β
βwe? what makes you think iβm going out with you.β you folded your arms over your chest, βiβm going to stay in here and not talk to either you or paul. goodbye, charlie.β you sighed, turning to close the door.
his foot stopped the door from closing to the frame, βone chance, please.β he followed you into your room, closing the door carefully behind him.
you turned to silently glare at him. eventually, your glare had shifted to a less harsh look and you were now staring at him with curiosity.
βfine. you can stay in here with me for two hours. if i enjoy the time, i wont kick you out. but please, donβt mess with anything.β you sighed, setting the bouquet down beside the stuffed animal.
βokay, okay that works.β charlie smiled.
βjust because iβm letting this happen does not mean iβm not mad at you anymore.β you walked past him to your bed, grabbing out a random book. taking a seat on your bed with your pillows supporting your back, you scooted closer to the wall and patted the space beside you for him to sit.
he did, after taking his shoes off.
βcan i ask you something?β you asked before you opened the book. charlie had been laying with his elbow supporting him, staring at you with wide eyes. he nodded for you to continue, βis there a reason you didnβt want paul to take me out on a date?β
βbecause i wanted to be the first to take you out.β he shrugged, βi mean itβs obvious to everyone else. do you like paul?β he added.
βwell, no. but he was the first to ask, to be fair.β you pointed out, βand whatβs obvious?β
βthat i like you.β he grinned. your face formed into one of disbelief, staring at him and waiting for him to tell you it was a joke. βiβm serious, angel.β he added.
βno, you hate me. we hate each other. thereβs no way you like me.β you scoffed, defensively crossing your arms over your chest.
βi only seem to hate you because i had no idea how else to approach you.β he was still smiling, βi needed some way to talk to you.β he sat up fully, facing you on the bed.
βand youβre confessing becauseβ¦?β you waited for his answer.
βbecause seeing you with another guy, even worse that it was paul, made me realize that it was now or never, so here i am.β
βyou were jealous?β now you were grinning, βthe charlie dalton was jealous of someone asking me out?β you laughed this time.
βmaybe i was a little jealous, but that doesnβt matter.β charlie defended himself. he watched you smile and laugh, and it filled him with warmth. he was the one making you smile and making you laugh, and it was all he ever needed in his life.
βyes it does, charlie.β hearing his name fall off your tongue felt better than anyone else saying his name, and he was happier than a few seconds ago.
βso, do you like me too?β
βyes you idiot.β

STARLIT SKIES πγ €Χγ €πΌ ΰ£ͺ πγ €Χγ €β jonathan kent x reader the sky was even more beautiful when he was with you.
fluff | friends to lovers
ββββ WHEN JONATHAN had invited you over, what you last expected was for his main desire to be stargazing alongside you. of course, you had no complaints. it was calm, a blanket spread across the large field behind his familyβs house, both of you laid on your backs.
βcan you see her?β your voice was the first to break the sweet, comfortable silence that had engulfed the both of you. βcassiopeia.β you lifted your arm weakly to point at the bright stars above you.
growing up in the bustling city, the stars had never been as visible as they were now. it had always managed to take your breath away, no matter how many times youβd spent admiring them from jonathanβs window sill at night.
βyeah, itβs beautiful out isnβt it?β jonathan hummed. the two of you had been lying to close your pinkies were consistently side-by-side.
βit is.β you mumbled. a brush of wind frisked past, tickling against your limbs as a shiver dragged through you. the shiver than ran through you brought a laugh out of jonathan, who told you to lift your head up.
when you did, he slid his arm under your head and tugged you closer.
βi like this.β jonathan said after a moment of silence. adjusting your head to lay on his shoulder - your arm dropped across his warm chest, you began to draw shapes on his chest.
βlike what?β
βthis.β the emphasized it, using his free hand to gesture to their positions. βhow we are now.β he hummed, his arm twisting to begin rubbing your back.
βi like it too, jon.β you smiled, continuing to draw shapes as his hand soothed your back.
βcan i ask,β a shifted slightly, βwhat are we?β the question was so innocent, delicate when it fell from his lips.
it left you entirely baffled.
had the absence of a title between the two of you not been enough? you thought it was, the silence of a title hanging above the both of you whenever his eyes linger too long on your lips, or his hands on your waist when he passed behind you.
βuhβ¦β you stuttered, βwhat do you mean?β you hesitated. the need to double check that he was really asking prevalent in your mind.
βwhat are we? i mean, i know we arenβt friends - no way friends act like how we do.β he sat up, which forced you to do the same, βso, what are we?β he asked.
βare you asking this like you want me to decide?β
βyes.β he was grinning now.
βokay, then youβre my boyfriend.β you hummed. jonathanβs grin graduated to be a wide smile, and neither of you made a fuss. youβd practically spent three summers in a row with the unbroken tension between you both, and it was impossible to jump right in.
taking it slow seemed natural with him. his warm, domesticated way of loving was obvious since before this very night.
βokay, then iβm your boyfriend.β he giggled childishly, pulling you back into the previous position youβd found yourselves in.
this time, it felt different. a new warmth had spread through the two of you, and it was like your souls had finally intertwined, and everything was complete.
you belonged here, and so did he.
