Long time no post! Here's something I've been obsessed with lately: the podcast Malevolent! In it there's a character called the King in Yellow, as well as an offshoot of him just called Yellow. I picture them both as having a mask that is a bunch of sickening, swirling hues of contrasting colors that is hard to look at for long and can drive people mad if they do! I really like how this turned out

Health update, they keep doing tests on me like some kind of animal, hopefully they find something soon...!

something i really love about higurashi is the various ways characters perceive the violence, and it feels like such a wasted opportunity for the adaptations to always take the route of extremely graphic literal depictions. so i'm taking a swing at it myself, with a series of pieces on the subject (i'm planning on 4 in total, but we'll see what happens)

i have adhd and im allergic to doing things in order, so the first piece here is actually from the end, matsuribayashi

the general goal was to make something that is instantly identifiable as graphic in nature, but once you take a closer look you find there's no details to allow you to comprehend what you're looking at.

ICED OUT

this morning my UNMASKED self helped out at school arts department here in LOS ANGELES. this is not usually something i talk about to protect privacy of my other creative life but given whats happening in LA i think its worth the mention because ICE raids hurt these kids in so many insidious ways

they have NOTHING to do with how they arrived here and right now the fear hangs over them in a way that effects everything they do. yes, they could LITERALLY get snatched off the street, and some do, but even outside of the physical threat THE THREAT ITSELF is so harmful

the strange vibes and mysterious absences hung over everything at the start of the day, but when i popped in after helping i watched the assembly i saw something really beautiful: kids having fun. they were with their buds, they were in community, they were forgetting the threat for a moment.

there are so many ways to help. you can march in the street, you can volunteer, you can use art to urge others to do the same. you can CREATE spaces like an assembly auditorium full of cheering kids. today i am suggesting a donation. here is post of suggestions im trottin

yall know that post with all of those absolutely stunning crochet flowers? well i just bought a pattern from the shop those are from and Good Fucking Lord.

I was expecting a like a Chart or two, maybe some written instructions. not Seventy Seven full color pages for One type of rose.

this was like 8 bucks???? obviously i did some redacting but Good Lord. if you are even a little bit into crochet go throw money at this absolute Mad woman its Definitely worth it.

back at it almost an entire year later. and i can now confirm she's this insane in all of her patterns (there's over 84 of them????) (<compliment)

she has also made a website since the first post (link) the patterns are cheaper there and the payment is handled through PayPal (and I'm guessing she gets a Way bigger cut of the money than with her Etsy so maybe check out the site instead) of the Etsy listed above.

also quick faq below the cut bc idk, supporting small businesses ran by WOC is important and this lady is rad. I just genuinely love her products and want more people to know about them.

The patterns are full color and come with charts, full color pictures, and standard written instructions with a key in the back and tutorials for all non standard stitches and techniques.

They aren't actually that difficult. I crochet very rarely (and mostly do amigurumi) bc of wrist issues and still had a really easy time working through them bc like, the techniques aren't basic but if you don't already know them you will know them after doing the pattern. A lot of the difficulty comes from using a very fine thread, but you can also just use normal yarn to have giant beautiful flowers instead of life size ones (i personally prefer a size 10 instead of the recommend size 40 bc it's easier on my wrists) Also here's a link to her shop where she sells the thread. it's an Etsy link bc i don't think she has a non Etsy site for physical products yet.

the patterns are All Really Really Cheap. that rose pattern i called 8$ is only 7usd on her site. the most expensive items i can find are 12$ and they're both bundles. One with 9 mini patterns the other with 16. you are getting a fucking Deal no matter which you buy by my estimate.

she has everything from like a million types of rose and from amaryllises to zinnias and she's making more patterns.

Well, it's hard cuz with a plain stylus the pressure settings won't work, but here's a WIP for an idea I had for a fidget wand!

Image description as well as function description:

A W.I.P. of a magical girl wand. The head of the wand is in the shape of a heart. Within the heart on either side are crescent moons, shaped in a a way to make a smaller heart inside the wand.

Around the head of the wand is a ring resembling that which would be around a planet.

On the wand's handle are different shapes. Here they are, in order:

1. Shaped like a triangle, this spot is meant to make a click noise when pressed.

2. There are a set of four dots, implied to go around the circumference of the handle. These are meant to be like bubble wrap.

3. There are two squares next to each other. This is meant to be a switch/lever that makes a noise when flipped quickly, and no noise when flipped slowly.

4. Finally, a circle meant to represent a roller ball like that on a fidget cube.

WIP Update! Now she's looking down. It's hard to make sure the eyes are looking down correctly. Also maybe I need a little line in the neck gaiter/bandana to indicate her chin?

Introducing: Zaps! That's her Magi name, anyway. She's the Speedy Shoes (or as I now call them, Zappers) user.

This is her getting ready for a run! She enjoys sports and is very athletic. She goes for runs to clear her head. Right now she is anxious about a big football game coming up!

At the beginning, she doesn't know she's trans. She will learn more about herself over the course of the comic!

Very close to finishing the lineart for Zaps! If I can just figure out how to draw shoes -_- and how to make it look like she's using her hands to pull on a sock or tie her shoe (without me having to redraw the hands)

Any tips or references are HIGHLY appreciated.

(As for her real name, she doesn't have one yet! She's gonna go through some different names through the story as she finds out she's a trans girl and explores her identity.)

Today's session was buck wild. A pc was left alone with the villain after the other heroes went to stop a Giant Hamster Monster the previous villain had created.

The PC, Trix, at first tried to resolve things peacefully. Trying to find ways to duplicate the power of a Heart Crystal. (You wouldn't download a Soul!) But Nightshade kept threatening to kill an unconscious magical person if nothing worked, or if anything was a trick. And eventually Trix had had enough, and after failing to trick Nightshade into taking an anti-magic shot, attacked them with it and successfully injected them.

Magical creatures in this campaign are usually made up of an amorphous black goo that is given form by magic. So upon being injected by an anti-magic serum, Nightshade melted into black goo, and after a stern angry callout by Trix, retreated through a portal.

It was so fucking cool! I have the best players!
