I know that in comics thereâs technically âcanonâ and ânot canonâ characterizations in actually published works, but the fact that there are so many variations of a character in just official media is so exciting. I like Batman but only from certain things and thatâs okay- I like Batman but not Affleck or Bale Batman. Someone out there only likes Bale Batman. Someone out there only likes Absolute Batman. That doesnt make them less of a Batman fan- the person who only likes Bale Batman and me donât like the same character/Batman, which can be annoying when you both say you like Batman but you like vastly different versions of the character and youâre like âthat is not the babyâ, but it is the baby, just not my baby (does that makes sense?). And that is so cool to me!!!! They can all exist at once and contradict one another !!!
(I donât like it when people say âI donât like this character because they did this thing in the one and only specific media piece I consumed with them in it, and thus the character as a whole is butt, to which I am like !!!! That is one iteration of the character !!! Do not judge your liking of them on just that !!! However I am probably guilty of this as well due to my dislike of someone say, Hal Jordan. But!!! No judgement to people who like Hal because they prob consumed a story that heâs hella cool in!!! Always such a good reminder.)
Anyways I like Batman and dude bro likes Batman but we donât like Batman in the same way and thatâs okay and that doesnât make my version any more valid than his, do I think mine is better, yes, because itâs the one I like, but that is not factually true! And all of this to say that when people are like âyou like Red Hood but only one specific comic of Red Hood then youâre not a real Red Hood fan and to that I say whack if thatâs what you said about Book Version!Ryland Grace fans of Project Hail Mary since thereâs only one book heâs in and in this essay I will-
