[Important considerations for omegaverse worldbuilding: at what point does pikuach nefesh kick in for observant Jews going into heat/rut on yom kippur. Presumably fasting is a no, but you're not *really* going to die without sex, so do you just have to wait until sundown?

What about masturbation? Presumably the prohibition against showering still applies, so you've got to lie there in your fluids either way, but in a non-omegaverse fuck-or-die situation, does using lube count as anointing yourself with oils? Someone please @ a rabbi]

God, i want to post this in some of the very serious Facebook groups I'm in. If they have anon, I might. I don't really mind getting banhammered.

I think part of this depends on the specifics of your omegaverse. Sometimes heat is like, "I'm just really flushed and uncontrollably horny" and sometimes heat is "I'm in extreme physical pain and your dick is the only cure."

This is from a ruling on fasting during pregnancy from an orthodox site.

Nausea, tiredness, or weakness are not reasons to break the fast as they are natural symptoms of pregnancy and do not indicate any high risk.

It also depends on your flavor of Judaism. I'm sure Reform Jews will bang to alleviate symptoms.

Here is some general info on eating in yom kippur that might be relevant from an ultra orthodox perspective. (emphasis added)

If one is required to eat on Yom Kippur due to medical reasons, a Rov should be consulted in advance to receive specific dispensation from fasting. However, in case of a medical emergency where one’s life is in danger, or even if there is a question whether the condition is a medical emergency or not, the patient should be given food or medicine immediately. They should not attempt to fast against the rabbi’s orders. The same Torah which commands us to fast on Yom Kippur tells us that guarding our health is far more important than fasting on this holy day. Just as a healthy person fulfills a Mitzvah by fasting; an ill person does a Mitzvah by eating.

BUT alleviating heat by having sex with am alpha would also require the alpha to not observe the mitzvah, which is definitely a complication. So maybe masturbation to temporarily alleviate symptoms if they are severe or life-threatening?

This got me wondering about pheremones and tzniut etc. How do you prevent omega pheremones from distracting alphas during prayer? (and vice verse buts lbr orthodoxy is gonna care more about alphas the way it cares more a out men). One of the main reasons more observant shuls keep men and women separate so that they won't be distracted by the opposite sex. But that only controls visual and social distraction? Do omegas also have to sit in a sealed room or under a special air vent to keep their horny smells from wafting all over the place? Are there specific types of clothing they should wear that better contain and absorb the pheremones? Or is there a religious mandate to take heat/pheremone suppressants?

Omegaverse Sounds

Omega

Keening: A wail-like call for something, usually a pack member or an item. If an Omega is not getting what they want or is upset, they will keen to get the attention of the nearest person in order to be soothed or be given what they desire. Basically shouting at others: “I’m upset!! Give me what I want! Comfort me!”

Hissing: A low “s” sound made if the Omega is provoked and thinks they or their pack are in an extremely dangerous situation. Hissing is a warning sound made to get others to back off or to alert others that they will attack if said provocation continues.

Trilling: Trilling is a high-pitched rolling “r” sound in the back of the throat that typically occurs in short intervals or once. Trilling is a way for an omega to get attention, in a soft and non-threatening way. For example, if an omega woke up and saw their partner in the kitchen, they could trill to say hello and alert their mate that they are there. Trilling in public areas indicates that the Omega wants others to follow them. As another example, an Omega may trill at their friends before running into their favorite store. The Omega is either saying “hello! I’m here and want you to know of my presence, but I don’t need anything at the moment!” or “I’m going this way! Follow me!”

Purring: Purring is a low, continuous vibratory sound made for a multitude of reasons. Omegas purr when they are content, relaxed, nursing their children, or are in a good mood. Omegas may also purr to self-soothe. If they are in an uncomfortable or stressful situation they may unconsciously start to purr to calm themselves.

Chirping: A quick, sharp high-pitched sound. Typically used towards pups or to express happiness. Mothers will chirp at their pups to send messages such as “come to Mom!” and “Mom is here!” Further, if an omega is happy, they will chirp to express their pleasure. For example, if an Omega’s mate makes them dinner, the Omega may chirp to indicate they like the meal.

Mewling: A whimper or high-pitched crying noise to express unhappiness. Omegas mewl when they are hungry or in pain, whether it be physical or mental.

Alpha

Rumbling: A continuous, deep sound. Rumbling is very diverse in how it can be used by Alphas. Most often, rumbling is used to self-soothe or express content and relaxation. Rumbling can also soothe others if they are uneasy.

Growling: Growling is a low, guttural noise made in the throat. Growling is used to show almost all displeasure an Alpha experiences. It can be used similarly to hissing for omegas, as a warning when they feel as though they or their pack is in danger. Alphas also growl when they are annoyed or angry. Last, Alphas may growl at their pup, mate, or pack member with a disciplinary tone to convey that they are not happy with that person.

Crooning: A soft, low continuous noise that sounds like a hum. Crooning is typically directed at younger pups or distressed people and is meant to come off as soothing and safe.

Chuffing: A puffing sound. It sounds like this. Used to greet pack members and friends. However, chuffing goes farther than that. Alphas will only chuff if they feel very comfortable with the people they are chuffing at. They will not even chuff in the presence of strangers. When they chuff, they are basically saying: “hello! You are my person/one of my people! I like you!”

Betas can make some of these noises. Which noises they can make varies from beta to beta. Some betas can growl and purr, but can’t rumble or keen. Etc.

Birds and the bees - Heats and Ruts

There are 3 kinds of Heats and Ruts for each. From a glance they look very similar but they have their key differences.

Heats :

Warm Heat :

It is a mild form of natural heat that manifests in freshly presented omegas so they can ease themselves more smoothly into their dynamic. For most of the time the omega displays symptoms of normal heat without the increased sex drive attached. They may be confused and in need of comfort so be sure to cuddle and support them. Their scent changes but instead of it gaining seductive tone , it changes to sweet one that makes you want to put them in a burrito blanket and protect the omega with all your might. There are 3 warm heats that omega will experience in their teens - One when you present and 2 two additional after- and they will not have them untill they are around 50 years of age. They last around 5-6 days.

Natural Heats :

It is the most commonly known form of a heat. Omega is in their most vurnerable and primitive state when insticts overrule logic. They are the most fertile, producing massive amount of slick and their scent changes to a sweet, seductive undertone that quickly spreads into the surroundings, affecting all people nearby. Heats without a mate are often more painful and frustrating without someone to relieve them , so omegas often reach for special toys to smooth over the tides. Average Normal Heat symptoms procceed to look like this.

Induced Heats :

The are the most annoying and unpredictable out of all of them. Induced Heats often occur when omega has smelled a scent of a compatible mate, alpha's for the most cases OR if they smell their mate in state of Rut. They are often the most painful when they don't have a person to help them through it, because body had no time to gradually accomodate changes , resulting in sexual frustration and more intense cramps. The result of it is that those unmated heats last around 3-4 day old. If the induction happened because of their mate, then the heat persists for the same time as their rut.

Important note regardless Heats : If you see unmated omega in heat that you don't know or had previously expressed their dissaproval of you , DO NOT APROACH THEM. They are as previously described in their most VURNERABLE and PRIMITIVE state, so if they deem you dangerous or incompatible they will NOT hesitate to defend themselves and attack you with everything they got. The warning growl is a sign that you should leave them alone and if you don't then don't be suprised when your face will look like a swiss cheese¯\_(ツ)_/

Ruts :

Warm Ruts :

Similarly to warm heats, warm ruts is a muted version of natural rut, where alphas can be more easily acclimated to their designation. They have milder symptoms and don't have the sexual drive attached to it. Teen alpha will experience 2 warm ruts in puberty, then won't see them untill they are around 60 years old. They will be snappy, nagging , possesive and restless so when you see them in the kitchen acting like they are 3 star chef and nagging people into eating, then quietly indulge them and don't go into their room when the height of it comes, you don't want to be mauled after all.

Natural Ruts :

It is the most common type of Rut that last around 5-6 days where they are the most fertile and have the biggest chance getting someone pregnant. It will be the most manageble with their mate, being more agreeing and dolice around them, if the alpha doesn't have one then seclude a room and give them their space to get through their rut. Average Natural Rut looks like this :

Induced Rut :

They occur when Alpha smells omega in heat nearby Or when their mate is in heat themselves ( If alpha is mated then Strange omega's heat scent will have little to none effect on them ). They often last as long as the heat of the omega. Symptoms are often more intense than normal and the itch in their teeth will be intesified. Please note that the alpha in preheat will still be lucid and aware enough to think the situation throught so them acting on the instinct and ,,aiding" omega through their heat regardless is NOT okay.

A concept: The whole theory of "Omegas will die if they don't mate" was made up by douche bag alphas as a way to convince omegas to mate with them during their heats and to encourage alpha/omega pairs instead of less traditional pairs. Modern medicine proves that an omega won't die from lack of mating, but instead not mating can be stressful on the body and mind, but can be lessened by taking heat represents or other medicines to lessen the effect of a heat cycle.

I just realized something, it would go against the alphas instincts to do anything without consent. Like alphas provide for and protect their mate. They want them to be happy and content. No consent 99% of the time isn't doesn't bring positive emotions. Therefore, consent is necessary. Clear consent because the alpha won't go on a hunch when it involves their mates well being. Sorry if you've seen this already.

Wait so if for the male omegas why wouldn't his body just make a vagina down there instead of having a uterus in his butt ( that's not very safe by the way because he can get poop in there) and the same goes for alpha females if the body can make a penis and testicles why wouldn't it move that stuff outside of the body ( also not sure if you know this but testicles like to be cool otherwise it kills the sperm) so like why did you make those choices for those people just wondering

1- Cause it's my verse and I do what I want.

2- Cause to me it makes no sense to have males and females being the same. If they were the same there wouldn't be a reason to make a distinction between males and females. We'd just have generic A.lpha or Omega with no female or male gender (which if that's what you're going for, that's totally fine, you can do that. But it's not my vibe). An Omega male with a vagina is just the same as an Omega female, so what's the point of calling it male (specially cause in my verse male Omegas don't have secondary male characteristics, well aside from the lack of breasts)? They're the same. Same for the female A.lpha.

3- "it's unsafe feces can get there" and "sperm needs to be cool otherwise it dies", well I can just side step that by saying: Omega males have a cloacal flap that protects their uterus and A.lpha female sperm doesn't die in the heat (or even just say A.lpha sperm in general doesn't die in the heat). Boom problem solved. It doesn't have to be realistic or make sense, it just has to be what I want it to be.

Here, I always use these charts right here for the A/B/O anatomy of my verse. I don't know the name of the original artist, nor do I know where to find him/her because I have these images for years now and I don't know where I got them from, so you'll have to forgive me for not giving the OP the proper credit. But just know it's not mine.

To me that's the most interesting and cool anatomical models. They make sense for me and they make a clear distinction for each dynamics' sexes in a way that makes each of them unique.

You don't have to accept or agree with these models. You can do whatever makes more sense to you in your verse.

YES, This is how I do my verse.

Like, nothing is set in stone, which is one of the things I love about omegaverse, you decide how it goes.

I had read fics where omegas have vaginas and breast, and to be honest I never understood it too much; like, if they aren't anatomically different than a woman, why put "omega male" in the birth certificate?

In my case, part of the reason you cannot know at first, is that I like the idea that people discover their dynamic during puberty.

This allows for kids to be raised in a gender neutral way, and then be like "wait I cannot do x because I presented y? That's dumb" (I am non Binary and trans, so I love dunking on gender roles)

I also find is a lot of fun with people discovering their dynamics.

Even if it doesn't make that much sense anatomically (I dont known enough biology to do any claime); I think this concept is fantastical enough that it doesnt always need to make sense.

Those tags are banned for IoS users, if you use desktop or android, you may haven’t notice a change because of that. 

But yeah, Apple decided to say that they wouldn’t continue supporting tumblr in the appstore unless they “cleaned their act” and they make the place more clean.

That meant banning certain words, including some stupid shit like “reblog” or “Alec Lightwood”

I wish I was joking.

Here is the thing, tumblr has a porn bot problem, and they try to mimic popular tags; including reblog. This is why stuff like “girl” or “me” is also being banned, because while almost everyone uses those tags without double meaning, the bots use those tags for being popular.

Again, all of this is stupid, and a big part of this shit show is what happened in the first porn ban: Apple were about to boot them, and they panicked without really giving it too much of a thought.

A few years ago, I was in a Chemistry class, where a teacher told us if you have issues with somebody for no reason, it is because you are chemically incompatible, whatever chemistry you have inside you is repellent with the other person, so you backlash.

I wonder if I understood what she was saying, or she was spewing nonsense. 

Anyways, I thought, what about that in the omegaverse?

I had wrote for the concept before, but never done a full post, so why not.

The idea is simple, you have an inner beta/omega/alpha who may be attracted to someone, but just as well you guys may feel incompatible.

This means you may be an omega in an arrange marriage with an alpha, but no matter how much time you spend together, or even if you guys are good friends, your never think of this person when you are in heat, you act up when you are feeling sick, and this person doesn’t seem interested in you even in a rut.

Is not so much as hating each other, but something inside you guys is saying “Nope, I don’t want this one”

I had seen the scenario about being attracted happen a bunch of times, but not the opposite. 

I also think of “indifferent” situation, where despite being together and wanted to be together, you guys don’t connect, yet is not full “I want to bite your throat out when I am in a heat/rut”

Just a bit of an idea.

Alpha Ruthouses

Okay so I’ve seen some people talk about establishments in Omegaverse where Omegas can go when they’re going through their heats - sanctuaries, health clinics, etc. - which are a rad idea… But I figured perhaps there should also be places for Alphas in rut too, y’know?

Like, perhaps your Alpha is prone to violent outbursts during their rut and always comes around realising they’ve torn the goddamn bed sheets again in their frustration

Or perhaps you’ve got an Alpha who’s just so scared they’re gonna go on a rampage and hurt someone in their pack because it’s been ingrained in them from a young age that “Alphas in rut can’t control themselves!!” and the thought terrifies them

Or maybe it’s an Alpha who’s going through a really tough time at the moment, maybe they’ve had a rough break-up, and they really don’t want to feel alone right now

Also I hc that Alphas without a mate are known to have the urge to go out and roam during their rut as a natural instinct to find a mate, so sometimes they’ll suddenly find themselves unlocking their front door about to leave and be like “wait what am I doing why am I here when did I get out of bed”, so maybe an Alpha just wants to be somewhere they know that won’t/can’t happen

In situations like these when an Alpha doesn’t want to spend their rut at home, they can go to “Ruthouses”! Kind of like hotels, but everything’s geared towards making Alphas feel safe and comfortable during their ruts!

Rooms will be stocked up with plenty of food to last as long as the guest says their rut will last

Guests have the option to have attendants check in on them every now and then to make sure they haven’t hurt themselves (which can happen for some Alphas) and are eating

(The staff are gonna have to go through some serious training… also I can totally imagine this being a meet-cute situation)

Building’s walls are gonna have to be thick and the whole institute will have to be well-ventilated to keep the scent of other guests in rut from winding everyone up

(Historically this wasn’t always the case, which has led to “it smells like a ruthouse in here!” being a common phrase, particularly to tease randy teenage Alphas)

The rooms were probably designed by Omega architects and designers putting their nesting skills into action so all rooms are gonna be cosy and soft and pleasant

Guests are entirely in their right to use suppressants, that’s up to their own discretion

Non-Alpha guests are probably not allowed

(Reception probably has a hotline for a bunch of Rut Assistance Services that the guest can request though)

(Also, I can totally see Alpha/Alpha couples using these places as romantic getaways during their ruts)

[Most of the time I like to imagine places like this are tax/state-funded so homeless Alphas have somewhere safe to spend their rut without having to pay, but sometimes I like to imagine everything’s a little more realistic dystopian and have Alphas forced to fork out cash to go to one of these places ~for the angst of it all~ so it’s really up to how you how these places are run (including how ethical/unethical they might be) and funded.]
