bUT SEX ED IN SCHOOL WILL CORRUPT THE CHILDREN IT’S OKAY THEIR PARENTS WILL TELL THEM
Im the parent putting doctor pepper in my kids bottle
It wasn’t about the kid drinking doctor pepper, it was about them drinking from the and bottle. There’s more bacteria in adults than babies/toddlers bodies can deal with, hence why you shouldn’t share bottles and such
As a nutrition and dietetics major, I’m gonna have to say no to this. Newborns should not ingest ANYTHING other than breast milk or formula – not even water – until they are at least 4 months old. Breast milk and formula have enough water, sugar, fat, and protein needed to sustain a baby until their teeth begin to erupt.
I never said a baby should drink Dr Pepper. Nor did I even mention newborns. Clearly small children (and most children in general) shouldn’t be given fizzy drinks, caffeine, etc.
To clarify my point:
The adult mouth has a shitload of bacteria in it, and to expose a child to that when their immune system hasn’t properly developed is irresponsible.
People have been exposing infants and children to their oral bacteria via kisses and kiss feeding for thousands of years. Children's skin, mouths, and guts are colonized by their parents bacteria, and that's a good thing. Vaginal birth exposes children to bacterial colonization that can have profoundly beneficial impacts on their health in life, including lower risk of autoimmune diseases throughout the lifespan. Spreading pathogens is bad, obviously, no one with strep or active herpes sores or other communicable sickness should share anything with babies, but the vast majority of bacteria in the mouth is nonpathogenic. There used to be a fear of increased risk of cavities when parents and children shared oral bacteria pools but that's not actually true, children are less prone to cavities when they share with their parents. The main problem with sharing Dr. Pepper with infants and babies is the Dr. Pepper, not the sharing.
