*setting: the Chain is sitting around a bonfire, having a meal.*
WIND: so… I have a question. Like, a “heroes spirit, triforce of courage” type of question.
WIND: do you ever just like, know how to fight someone? Instinctively?
WARRIORS: …what do you mean?
WIND: I’ll walk into a fight for the first time, and it’s like I’ve fought them a thousand times, or know exactly what to do and how to beat them. I’ll walk up to some random monster in a dungeon that I’ve never seen before and it’ll be like “oh yeah, I have to throw a bomb into its mouth!” But I don’t know how I knew that or how I figured it out!
WILD: ooooh, yeah I know what you mean. I kinda have that? I get it with monsters too, or I’ll know “don’t go to that area, there’s a really strong monster there.” I always just assumed it was a memory thing…
TWILIGHT: I definitely know what you mean. During my fight with Ganondorf it felt like I fought him a million times, even though it was the first time we fought.
HYRULE: or like, I’ll know exactly where I need to go or what I need to do. Sometimes I’ll walk into a room and it’ll feel like Déjà vu, or I’ll instinctively know to check for a trap that I shouldn’t have caught.
WARRIORS: that’s creepy but I feel like I’ve had the same thing happen to me, too.
FOUR: ok, show of hands, who has this happened to?
*everyone raises their hands*
FOUR: maybe it’s a hero’s spirit thing. Like, we all have the heroes spirit, so whenever we’ve fought something similar or been somewhere someone else has been, we feel it.
SKY: yeah, but what about me? I’m supposed to be the first one here, but I’ve felt that before…
WILD: and what about stuff that no one else has fought before? Or how you know exactly what an opponent is gonna do, or exactly how to beat them?
HYRULE: not to throw fuel onto the fire here, but does anyone else have weird dreams about themselves dying? More than the usual, but it’s dreams of dungeons you explore hours later, enemies you fight hours later…? Like, to a scarily accurate degree?
WARRIORS:… raise of hands?
*everyone raises their hands.*
TWILIGHT: I thought it was just the stress…
WILD: I thought it was part of my other issues…
SKY: you guys don’t think it could be other timelines or worlds where we die or something?
LEGEND: NO. SHUT UP NO IM NOT DEALING WITH THAT AGAIN.
TIME: it could be the triforce of courage, but not here everyone has it…
SKY: or hero’s spirit, it could be anything…
LEGEND: so we all just share this weird hero omniscience thing?
WARRIORS: we need to stop having these mind shattering revelations over dinner
or: some gameplay mechanics translate into the story, and the chain vaguely remembers the time they died in other timelines
