my favorite trope is the āplace slowly becomes home, people slowly become familyā trope
- Nichelle Nichols
Hatred is always foolish. Love is always wise.
I have a few things to say to you, Doctor.
WATCHING DOCTOR WHO CHRISTMAS SPECIAL!
forbidden knowledge
Can we see this frame by frame? Please and thank you.
Yes Here Are All The Frames
You know i havenāt seen any of those ā humans are weird/space orcs/space australiansā posts where humans are actually the first species to get to space ā¦
I mean honestly considering how risky and difficult it was to launch people in space it would make sense if the first specie to do so was also the most resistantĀ
and if we cross this with the post about humans randomly helping animals:Ā
what if humans are seen as this super dangerous species who will nevertheless immediately go out of their way to help you if you need some help ? sure humans are terrifying but as a whole theyāre just seen as this strange protector/guardian species that has always been out thereĀ
Everyone knows about the Humans.
The first into space because, too reckless and impatient to wait until they had the science perfected, they threw people and resources into their atmosphere repeatedly until they had enough data to refine their systems and create a working space travel system that allowed them to leave their planet alive, frightening beings that thrive on violence and fight each other for funĀ and heal stronger and more dangerous every time they are injured if they donāt die of their injury.
They made first contact while other worlds were still struggling with getting out of their planetās atmosphere without liquefying in the process. And, by some miracle, this species of violence hadĀ ācontact protocolsā, by which their first words to all other intelligent life wasĀ āwe come in peaceā. Qurāthānol wasnāt there on the fateful day, but xe didnāt mind. Xe has seen holovids of the events, with the looming ships touching down slowly in the middle of a thankfully barren rock clearing, stopped from a deadly descent only by crude, yet precise firings of the combustion-based propulsion systems so the force of landing didnāt splatter their small and squishy bodies inside their own ship. The humans themselves, small, in suits with special atmosphere for them to breathe inside brought from their home planet.
And the Alpha of the group- what humans called theĀ āCaptainā, their Leader- taking off the helmet to call in formal, stilted Aglarian,Ā āWe wish to help. Where is the disaster?ā
The recent tremors in the planetās surface, caused by an erratic wobble in the planetās orbit, had brought down buildings, buried people, and left rubble and trauma behind. Once they were shown where the remaining rubble and mess was, the Humans performed feats of strength the Aglars did not know were possible! They had wondrous tools that they could use to lift enormous sections of rubble off trapped people that had been written off as lost, dug with strength and persistence long after any Aglar would have been forced to stop and regrow their hands after breaking them off, and only after getting out all the bodies and all the living did they stop. They worked for almost sixteen lunar cycles without stopping!
Even then, after a mere five cycles resting and allowing their tools to recharge on their ship, the Human team returned, and with the Aglarās help cleared the remaining rubble, even helpfully depositing it right to the material re-use bins to be returned to itās base minerals and liquids so they could use it to build the new buildings. Qurāthānol xerself had the honor of receiving the Sacred Blueprints, that outlined how to build structures that could withstand further tremors, even ones of such high magnitude any Aglar in the area would have turned to shattered shards and have to reform from their base components!
And when it was all cleared up, the new building underway, the Captain had givenĀ ācontact informationā to the Alpha of Qurāthānolās societal grouping with a formal request to be sent cultural information andĀ āupdatesā in case of any further disaster.
Since then, Humans had become a common sight in the three galaxies closest to their home planet. Those who challenged them quickly learned their folly, and submission was achieved quickly; the Humans laid fierce claim to those who had fought them, possessing them if not their planets for daring to aggress against them in the first place, but other than placing humans on theseĀ ācoloniesā seemed uninterested in abusing their victories over these planets, instead opening trade. The rest of the galaxies learned from these examples.
Even now, if a trading ship finds itself out of fuel in dead space, they use the humanĀ ācontact informationā to request aid; if an exploratory group on a dangerous planet needs to leave in such a hurry they are left short of supplies, they call the humans; if another planet is threatening war, you want to call for a Human negotiator if youāre on good enough terms with Terra, their home planet.
Everybody knows about the Humans.
Theyāre guardians: they will defend you unto death, and their comrades will fight on to protect you, but oh, all who stand against them will be razed to ashes and iron dust.

Stranger Moms ⢠Can I have a squad of angry mums seeking revenge with Steve as their leader in season 3?
Okay but I just imagine the Pevensies going to their respective schools after Prince Caspian, and it doesnāt take the other kids long to notice something isā¦off about them. Thereās something rough in the edges of Peter that the worst of the other boys keep getting cut on. Something powerful and confident. He was always likable, the shining golden child that the school trots out as a perfect example to incoming students, but now he is strong, he has emerged from the countryside a leader. He stands up to bullies, he always has, but heās more eager to get into a fight these days than to talk them down. Heās a strong hand and quick word, but thereās power to back it up this time. Thereās something in the way Susan tilts her head that makes her seem like a woman. The way she carries herself high and tall, the proud line of her shoulders as she walks down the hall that makes some lable her to high and mighty for her own good. The world doesnāt know what to do with queens, and thatās what Susan seems to be these days. Thereās something dark lurking in Edmund that makes the other boys uneasy. Something wild and untamed in the now quiet boy. He no longer gets into fights, no longer bullies or mocks the others. In fact, heās taken to stopping fights, to pushing back against his former friends when they try to take things to far. His roomate claims he wakes screaming from nightmares sometimes, and the stillness of his presence belies the intensity of his eyes. Thereās something burning in Lucy that wasnāt before. All the teachers comment on it. Thereās something loud and cheerful in the girl who used to be quiet, and she makes friends even faster than before, pulled in by her captivating orbit. She spins fantastic tales, and is scolded for having her head in the clouds. She tells her tales of magical kingdoms as if she were really there, and gets sad sometimes, as if she misses the people who were never there.
Everyone agrees that something happened to the Pevensie children in the country, but they never talk about it. The adults eventually just chalk it up to the war, and almost forget about the strange children that populatetd their classrooms, until they read about the tragedy in the paper. Then they remember. And they never forget.
tell me your fav underrated goblin boy thing
first of all, letās be clear that the entirety of the book is underrated, more people need to read it and feel what i feel
that said, probably my fav thing is that maia is a genuinely good emperor, and his people really love him, and itās just never talked about because of his Traums. for his first week or two every single decision he makes is motivated by either the habit of years of abuse, or the spite of no one else gets to give me orders ever again. but heās still cheneloās good boy who cares about others, and heās good at reading people and saying soothing nonsense and thinking of clever solutions because of years of practice with his abuser.Ā
and because heās got Traums and the whole book is in his pov, the fact that he wins the love of the common people isnāt really talked about, and comes as a total shock when it does show up. because he doesnāt do good things because he wants people to like him, he does good things because itās important to do good. and his people see that, and love him.
