Just realised that if Donald Trump wins the presidential elections, itâll be 5 years before we can even think about a canon Destiel.. Dammit America, what are you doing!
date of origin: 9th of november, 2016.
i love that in finland when someone, usually your kid or a loved one is going somewhere we dont say things like âtake careâ, we say âoo sit ihmisiksâ which means âact like a humanâ
tumblrâs collective composure was hanging on by a single fucking thread and it was supernatural of all things that got out the scissorsÂ
is anyone surprised
do they still do it? does the supernatural fandom still have gif to offer in this trying times?
SPN Fandom! Do you still have a gif to offer us?
I shall chant.
Supernatural
Supernatural
Supernatural
Ask and you shall receive
Supernatural gif!! The prodigal son returns!!!
This fuckin slapped me in the face
apparently this is a thing in Japan too, and it gets translated as âMundane Halloween.â There are so photos online and theyâre all so good?????
âPerson going to work on a windy day"
âWoman whoâs having her bang cut but the hairdresser is nowhere to be found"
"Zookeeper in charge of the pandas"
I would pay top dollar for a comprehensive, source-supported explanation of how Superwholock vanished.
LikeâŚâŚ..that was the core of tumblr in 2013. Its tainted life-blood. Its fetid royal palace. Destiel this and Johnlock that. Tardis-in-the-impala-at-221B URLS. Bendydoot Cucumberpatch and long analytical debates of which doctor is best doctor
What caused the end? What destroyed it? What series of events sunk this fortress? Iâm so. So curious. This was so much of what tumblr was. So unavoidable. Itâs cultural history. I want. to know.
So Iâm not completely sure but I think you can pinpoint the disappearance to the month following Dashcon. Like, the entire year prior, things were going fucking insane; The DW 50th anniversary, Sherlock returned after a hiatus, Dean became a demon or something I donât remember. Point is, the fans were worse than ever.Â
And then Dashcon happened: All those people got together for a nightmarish event in the ball pit (for anyone who doesnât know what Dashcon was, look it up and read any of the news articles about it. I promise, you will not be disappointed).Â
Now, I wasnât too active on tumblr at that point because of school reasons, but I remember finding out that the new season of Supernatural had aired on TV, and I saw NOTHING about it on tumblr. Not a single post on my dash. It was a miracle, but I was so confused. How had the whole fandom just vanished like that? I still donât know for sure, but it was very shortly after the Dashcon incident.Â
Then Doctor Who returned. New doctor and a new companion. Same scenario. Nobody said anything online. I was still big into DW so that was kind of a bummer but it was still astounding.
I went back online more readily and started realizing that fandoms, as I had known them, were essentially dead after that summer. It was like everybody simultaneously realized how toxic those communities were after they all got together in person and proved themselves to be a disgusting bunch.
It was the fastest and most unsettling jump in internet culture Iâd ever seen. Overnight it became an embarrassment to admit that you were in a popular fandom. All because of fucking
âSuperwholock died as a result of Dashconâ is the most fascinating theory Iâve heard in a while amazing
(And you know, seasonal rot and kids getting older and all that but s t i l l)
My personal theory is it was because of hiatuses and competition!
- Hiatuses: Sherlock especially, but the long Doctor Who mid-season breaks didnât help. People wandered off. Some of them to very similar shows, like Elementary, which fought initial fan scepticism to become THE Sherlock alternative.
- Fans became more critical. All three shows frequently come under fire for their treatment of women, LGBTQIA people, etc., and without new content fans had no option but to rewatch and reexamine the same episodes over and over again. Their flaws became more obvious on repeat viewings, and the comparison to new arrivals like Elementary didnât help. I imagine there were other competitors too, but one would need to do more research to see how relevant they are here - cartoons like Steven Universe and Gravity Falls, maybe? WtNV? OUAT and OITNB? All of them are much more obviously diverse, so Superwholock starts looking bland in comparison. Thereâs also the quality-comparison argument (Doctor Who is not as good at plotting as a lot of other things), but I reckon that goes without saying.
- Fandom backlash! You either die a hero or live long enough to become a villain. After events like the Mishapocalypse and the infamous FANDOMS GRAB YOUR WEAPONS post Superwholock became shorthand for the most obnoxious parts of Tumblr and fandom, so more people starting distancing themselves from it (see also: how Bronies killed the MLP fandom). And, yeah, it all came to a head with the Dashcon Clusterfuck 2k14.
- Fandom Backlash II: Your Fave is Problematic. Every popular figure from Joss Whedon to Taylor Swift is eventually the subject of text posts and screencaps dragging their name through the mud. Steven Moffat, Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, and Jensen Ackles (I believe? It might have been Jared Padalecki. I donât really follow Supernatural) have all had plenty of this.
IN CONCLUSION: there wasnât enough new stuff being made. People found their own new stuff, which in many cases they found more appealling. People became less forgiving of the old stuff, its creators, and its fans. Eventually enough time passed that they gave up on the old stuff completely, so when it came back they werenât interested.
(granted this mostly comes under the seasonal rot and kids getting older points but I didnât notice that until Iâd typed this out, and it seems a waste to delete it now :P )
Itâs like Iâm reading the end-result of an assigned essay topic I handed out last night. Iâve forgotten so many things from the 2013 era you get an A+
I can say quite firmly that nonbinary, transman, and asexual are phases that most of the lesbians my age have gone through.
Hyperfeminine overcompensation seems pretty common too, but I wouldn't say that's specific to my generation.
I realized I didnât like men. I didnât even realize liking women was an option, so I assumed I was asexual.
I realized I liked women, but women didnât like women, men do, therefore I must be a man.
I realized I wasnât a man, but being a woman- especially a woman attracted to other women- sucked, so I must be non-binary.
But then how do I define my attraction exclusively to women as a non binary person? âGynosexualâ was floating around the gendersphere back then, but that didnât seem right. Was I just pansexual with a preference? No, I wasnât just indifferent to men but repulsed by them.
Wait. Am I a lesbian?
Then it all made sense. I could love women, be a woman, and reject traditional womanhood all at once. Loving women didnât make me less of a woman, and being unhappy with my body and gender roles didnât make me less of a woman, either.
(Also, when I first realized I liked women, I went through this phase of dressing like a 1950s housewife almost as if to say, âHey, no gay here, just a good old classic woman!â lol.)
I'm 20. And this checks out. I thought I was asexual. Then I thought I was nonbinary. At some point in there I was hyperfeminine (I'm still feminine, but I was super feminine for a while). I was never a transman, but maybe if I was butch, I woulda been a transman at some point.
Doesnât help that the woke crowd has decided everyone gets to be a lesbian except actual lesbians these days.
Just because libfems are misguided and annoying sometimes doesn't make everything radblr says radical analysis, sometimes it's just personal drivel. Internet communities attract isolated, maladjusted people and can lead to conspiratorial thinking. The fact that women are actually oppressed doesn't change that.
lately I've been thinking of a mindfulness-inspired take on social media
imagine instead of scrolling through a hundred posts in a minute, you took the time to look at the whole posting (or tweet or update or w/e) and took it all in, had your thoughts about it and then only moved onto the next one once you felt ready
I recently heard a libfem saying âThe idea that sex workers are victims is just a harmful stereotype.â Like??? You would never say âThe idea that black people are targeted by the cops is just a harmful stereotype.â The fact that black people are unfairly targeted by the cops doesnât reflect poorly on black people; It reflects poorly on cops. The fact that women are victimized by pimps and johns doesnât reflect poorly on women; It reflects poorly on pimps and johns.Â
Lmfao, how did men manage to convince yâall that acknowledging the crimes committed against women somehow makes women look bad??? It makes men look bad, you fucking idiots. Why are libfems so obsessed with getting rid of the so-called âstigmaâ attached to womenâs oppression instead of getting rid of the actual oppression itself?? Women arenât oppressed because people are âjudgingâ them. Being âjudged,â in and of itself, is not oppression.Â
The goal of liberal feminism is to eliminate âstigmaâ and âjudgementâ while keeping all power relations the same. In other words, libfems think that instead of improving society, we should all just pretend like itâs already great. And as long as we pretend everything is fine, and women arenât being victimized, this will somehow, through psychic chaos magic I suppose, improve society.
This mentality actually makes perfect sense when you remember liberals care about image, not change.
Itâs worse to be called a racist than to be a racist.
Itâs worse to be called a rapist than to be a rapist.
Itâs worse to be called a victim then to be a victim.
covid has affected my brain so when I watch movies I get nervous when they just walk into crowded places without masks bc it seems wrong

shows like Euphoria are so funny because in reality teens are having less sex and doing fewer drugs than ever
Not to clutch my pearls or anything but every time I see a gifset of the twenty-something actresses on this show playing high schoolers talking about how much they love to fuck while dressed in fetish wear Iâm like⌠who⌠is this⌠for.
1. People who were LOSERS in high school and want to imagine what itâs like to be a cool and edgy gen-zer who fucks 2. 30+ year old male perverts.
