Tbh I think the "but data centers are important infrastructure, not just AI" talking point misses that like
Ok so roads are important infrastructure. A lot of stuff that's important happens on roads. Now, let's imagine that quadrillionaire Matt Stench has decided that the next big tech innovation is the Wide Car. It's a car that takes up six lanes despite seating only one passenger.
The Wide Car is supposed to be the future, and everyone's going to be driving Wide Cars, even though nobody who makes Wide Cars is turning a profit. Employers are offering Wide Cars as an employee benefit, and getting "nah." Some employers are going as far as demanding their employees drive Wide Cars, and the result is that people take time out of their workdays to get in the mandatory gas usage for their Wide Car before driving home in a regular car.
In spite of the fact that the Wide Car is clearly set to fail, there's an enormous push to expand to twelve-lane roads to accommodate a bunch of Wide Cars that simply will not materialize. This is not an organic response to demand, but a speculative investment that amplifies the existing issues with road development for no good reason.
That is the problem.
babe if i am not wrong, i have read a few times that you have always liked horror/ slasher/ violent films (or idk, sorry if i am wrong) so would you suggest me some good movies like that? any level of violence/ gore/ horror/ disturbing things will be appreciated!
I love horror. but I actually prefer psychological horror. not slasher or "gore just for the sake of shock value". I mean I like any kind of horror and I can watch slasher movies that have gore just for the sake of shock value. but if I have to choose, my favorite is psychological horror that don't rely purely on cheap jump scares or gore to be disturbing and terrifying.

Cw mention of CSA
Antis will claim that they are “protecting children” but then call people who harm fictional children pedophiles. But as a victim of CSA myself, I find it super offensive and harmful when these antis throw around the word pedo to anyone and anything that mildly makes their fragile little brain uncomfortable.
No. People who fantasize fictional children are NOT pedophiles because for someone to be that, they have to have harmed real children. A real child that I used to be when I was assaulted.
So by calling everyone who harms fictional children a pedophile, you’re dismissing my trauma and experience by reducing it to ***fictional kids being harmed*** and you’re actually helping real pedophiles who harm real children like me get away with it easier because now people have associated the word with “dark fiction” instead of real life harm, thanks to you.
So it’s antis who ARE harming real children because they want to protect fictional ones. Fuck off.
I was a CSA victim, and I say “let dark ship enjoyers write whatever they want”. They’re not harming real kids like you do.
Not to mention, a lot of victims like me use dark fiction to help us cope with our trauma. So not only are antis helping actual pedophiles get away with harming real children easier, they’re also calling CSA victims pedophiles because we write about fictional things that make them uncomfortable (even though we never force anybody to read our shit).
I don’t want to see these people claim to be good people ever again.
Op turned off reblogs but I MUST
saw someone say "an 11-year-old isn't even supposed to know what sex is and if you do something horrible must be happening to you and you need to get out of there" like can we be for real for a moment. have some people honest to god never heard 11-year-olds making sex jokes in their life
and let's be honest. if something bad was happening, good sex ed would help them recognize that. trying to shelter children from even knowing what sex is doesn't help or even work, it actually enables abuse. teach them about consent
Hot take: let's not discuss sexual stuff around CHILDREN.
Let's not sexualize children or even think of children & sexual stuff
Don't discuss sexual stuff with CHILDREN.
They cannot consent.
Children cannot consent and I dont know how many times we have to tell you this.
CHILDREN. CANNOT. CONSENT.
people like you are the reason so many kids can't speak up about being sexually abused. go back to the catholic church or whatever. we need proper sex education and this is dire
oh they're literally catholic. that explains a lot.
sex education ≠ sexualization
sex education ≠ sexual abuse
sex education ≠ child endangerment
HOWEVER
sex education = increased safety through knowledge
sex education = decrease in teen pregnancy
sex education = decrease in spread of sexually transmitted diseases
sex education = productive and necessary
Hello! Literally practicing Catholic here! Raised by Catholic parents since birth! I went through things exactly like this as a child entirely because my parents neglected my sex education due to viewing it as 'scarring' and 'inappropriate'! Please fucking educate your kids about sex and what constitutes sexual abuse! Teach them they have a right to refuse! :)
And let's also say the uncomfortable part out loud here: it's not only about protecting kids against older teens and against adults.
The average age for puberty to start is 11-12, but it is normal for puberty to begin between the ages of 8 and 14. Puberty is only considered 'too early' by doctors and delayed with puberty blockers if a girl is 7 or a boy is 8. And while not everyone experiences sexual arousal in the first years of puberty, quite a lot of kids do.
So, as deeply uncomfortable as it makes adults: some 11 year olds have already been getting horny for 3 or 4 years. And while their first explorations of that feeling often happen alone, some of that hornyness will drive those kids to seek out others to experiment.
So without information, that 11 year old may end up having sex with another kid and may get pregnant. That 11 year old may sexually assault a younger kid, not out of malice but out of simply not knowing that you should not do this to others. The idea that these things will not happen if we don't tell kids about sex is patently false.
I know we don't like to think about literal kids getting horny, but if we ignore the fact that this happens, those will kids suffer because of our cowardly unwillingness to face the facts and to give them the information to stay safe and to be safe to others.
For those who want a source on the age at which people can start getting horny:
The sexual response cycle consists of desire, arousal, orgasm and resolution. People experience the cycle differently.
HOOOOOO boyyyyyy.
Okay. I'm trained in this.
You need to be providing age-appropriate sexual education to children from as young as you possibly can.
When kids are really young this looks like "Yes, that's mummy's vagina. Please leave the bathroom because it is rude to be in the bathroom while mummy is using the toilet. Mummy is placing her boundary, sweetheart, and you need to respect that."
"Yes, daddy does have something different to mummy. What daddy has is called a penis. Yes (mummy/daddy's penis/vagina) is the same as you."
You will notice here that I use the anatomical terms for these body parts. That is for a reason. It helps your child if something does happen better be able to disclose, exactly, what has happened to them. You do not want your child trying to disclose using words such as "secret pocket" or "hidden flower" or "willie" as this can obfuscate meaning. Imagine, if you will, Maisie trying to disclose that Coach Asshole touched her sexually by saying "Coach Asshole stuck his stick into my secret pocket," to a teacher or family friend who does not know that those words are euphemisms. Maisie has tried to disclose, but has been unsuccessful because she does not have the language that she needs.
Now, next.
Children, especially girls, can start going through puberty young. Like, really young. I have taught 9 year olds who menstruate. We need to be teaching these children about their bodies. We need to be teaching boys about the bodies of people who menstruate. There is so much misinfomation amongst grown cismen about menstruation because they are not taught it in school.
We also need to teach children about consent and bodily autonomy from as young as possible. This sets them up that even if they do, unfortunately, suffer abuse of this form they are vocal in their protestations and are more likely to disclose than children who have been taught to accept that adults can do whatever they want to a child's body. Granny kissing little Maisie on the cheek doesn't look that different to Coach Asshole calling his girls at gymnastics "Special girls" and kissing/touching them inappropriately, especially to a child (who, usually, have a much less refined emotional radar and both will cause them to shut down and just accept what is happening. You want your kid to be able to say "No, what you are doing/did to my body is wrong.")
So.
How should adults behave around children?
Firstly - my golden rule of interacting with children is If you have nothing to hide, don't hide anything.
This means when you are interacting with children you always do so in an area where you will easily be visible if another adult happens to walk by. No closed doors, try to minimise rooms without windows, have another adult present.
The reason you are doing this is to make it flag as strange and unusual to a child if an adult tries to get them alone. Safe adults do not do that. By making sure you are transparent in your behaviour, the child is more likely to flag something being wrong when someone is not transparent. You are equipping the child with skills to protect themselves.
They will also be more likely to disclose to another adult that an adult was trying to get them alone.
Secondly - No secrets.
(There is a little bit of an exception to this rule but to begin with, no secrets.)
This leads back to transparency. A safe adult will not ask a child to keep a secret from another adult. If Uncle Jeff is telling Nancy to keep "our little secret" when he gives her extra dessert, then Nancy is prone to believe that keeping a secret from another adult is something she's supposed to do when Uncle Scumbucket asks her to keep his inappropriate fondling of her as "our little secret." Children who see secrets as unusual are more likely to disclose that an adult told them to keep something a secret.
This is also important as grooming usually starts as "we need to keep you getting this special treat as our little secret." Uncle Jeff giving Nancy more icecream out of the goodness of his heart looks a lot like Uncle Scumbucket giving Nancy candy and lollies and extra screentime in an effort to get her to like him and Uncle Scumbucket's secrets are going to move on to "Sit on my lap today, honey, but don't tell your mother. Remember, this is our little secret." And eventually to Uncle Scumbucket asking Nancy to keep sexual activities as "our little secret."
You do not want children thinking that safe adults keep secrets.
Thirdly - this ties in a little with secondly but Teach your child the difference between a safe secret and an unsafe secret.
If you are unsure of the difference yourself -
A safe secret:
Does not hurt anybody by the keeping of it, including yourself.
Is usually accompanied by a feeling of excitement
Has an end date where everyone will become aware of the contents of the secret.
A safe secret is a surprise birthday party, a camping trip, a surprise trip to disneyworld, pizza!
An unsafe secret:
Can hurt someone and can hurt to keep
Is accompanied by a feeling of nervousness or dread or shame
does not have an end date. The secret is ongoing.
You can see how Uncle Scumbucket's secret is unsafe, but also how Uncle Jeff's secret is unsafe because Uncle Jeff's secret does not have an end date. Uncle Jeff's secret is unsafe because it is priming Macy to see Uncle Scumbucket's secret as reasonable, which leads back to the grooming discussed above.
Lastly, and this is very important -
'Protecting' children from having access to sexual education actually does them an injustice.
We do not live in a perfect world.
Bad things can and do happen to children, with depressing frequency. Get me drunk sometime and I'll tell you what I'm legally allowed to disclose of the stories where terrible shit has happened to children I have cared for.
Pretending that they don't happen means that if they do happen, children are unable to recognise and respond appropriately. You are making your child less equipped to protect themselves, not more.
Children who are taught age-appropriate sexual education from a young age are so much less likely to be in a situation of sexual violence than those who are not taught age-appropriate sexual education. Children who are taught age-appropriate sexual education are more likely to disclose if something does happen to them, than children who are not.
Protect your kids.
And for God's sake teach them the words 'penis' and 'vagina/vulva'
please god let chatgpt die out like nfts did. With a fast and graceless fall into irrelevancy

OK so I have a list known as Comrade Maedhros’ opinions on contemporary world events/technological advances that happen after his time, which I wrote in the hopes that someone might ask me about it some day. I am glad to announce that @mircallaruthven has done the world a favour and asked me to release the Comradecut, so here are five of my favourites 😇
Marvel Cinematic Universe: literally loses his shit in excitement. It’s easy to miss but in Chapter 14, it’s mentioned in passing that Maedhros has an enormous comic book collection and used to draw cartoons for the kids. This man will be a superfan. He can quote all the ‘quips’ by heart. He gets really emotional over the whole paternal thing between Iron Man and that Spider Man kid. Front row at the theatre on release date, all 5770082 films.
Muntadhar al-Zaidi throwing a shoe at George Bush: another fanboy moment for the good Comrade. He writes a letter a month to this poor guy. You know how when fandom celebrities do meet and greets and people tell them stuff like ‘you saved my life’? That is Maedhros with this fellow. As in he verbatim tells him that. Some of the letters are also eclectic lists of other people Maedhros would like him to throw a shoe at, spanning everyone from ‘Margaret Thatcher’ to ‘the motherfucker who runs the Regal Cakes bakery in Mananchira Square and shortchanges me on egg puff pastries.
2008 American comedy-drama Marley and Me: attempts to sue 20th Century Fox for emotional distress.
Death of Harambe: Man. This is hard. He loves kids. He fucking adores gorillas. And what next? Will they stop at gorillas, or will other wondrous beasts fall prey to the same fate? When will they enter an aquarium and start shooting sharks? First they came for the gorillas, he says, tears in his eyes. And I did not speak, because I am not a gorilla.
Overall, he feels betrayed by the universe, for having made him face his greatest fear. For ignoring the countless nights he spent praying: ya Allah, if you want us to remain on speaking terms, combative as it may be, you will never put me in a situation where I would have to face the worst choice any man could possibly face — gun to your head, you can save only one: mountain gorilla or misbehaving toddler.
That one science experiment featuring a gorilla (Koko?) who can do sign language and understand speech and what not: One day,,Stanford University receives a cassette tape sent via international mail, the card inside reading: please show this one to Koko-sahiba. Kind regards, Comrade Maedhros. They place the cassette in the player, blinking in utter confusion at the sight of a middle aged Indian man sporting a cheerleader’s high ponytail, reading aloud from the Communist Manifesto with the gentle cadence of a bedtime parable.
Cherik fic idea:
Charles and Erik are dating and have been for a while, Charles gets into an accident that bounds him to his chair. Erik mentally shuts him out, Charles takes it as Erik trying to sort out his thoughts and emotions but later thinks it's because Erik doesn't want him anymore, which cannot be further from the truth. On Erik's end, yes he's trying to sort out his thoughts; he nearly lost Charles and keeps him out for a bit to get used to Charles not being in his head had he lost Charles which fails because he can't do it. On the day he intends to break his barriers he also goes and gets a ring but when he gets home Charles tells him they need to talk and Charles breaks it off, all Charles says is that things have changed between them and not in a good way. Charles leaves the apartment, both crushed.
They meet again several months to a year or so later, both getting jobs at the same place in different departments. They assume they won't ever have to talk - which works for them (not)! - but at least get put on the same projects and within the same room together, eventually they start doing small talk and in walks Sebastian Shaw (doesn't have to be him can be someone else!) in which Charles mistakes Shaw or whomever as Erik's current partner, Erik quickly fixes that. The person is someone from Erik's hold job shortly after Charles broke-up with Erik, in which said person tried to woo Erik and failed.
Charles then learns that Erik is in abusive situation with this person as they view Erik as theirs. One night this person shows up at Erik's door, Erik fights of course he does - but the person gets the upper hand and Erik is injured badly. Charles finds him after the person flees because he wanted to get out of the situation.
At the hospital is when Charles learns of the ring and Erik drafting letter after letter to send, basically calling the ring Charles's even if Erik never gave it over and mayhaps Charles would use it as his own engagement ring in the future even to another. Charles stays at Erik's bedside and Erik notices the ring on Charles's hand, left index finger for a temporary time. They talk everything out with Charles helping Erik get rid of his stalker, the ring, and everything that went down between them all those months ago.
They don't start dating exactly yet, they start slow yet it surprises no one when they get engaged not too long after
hii! first of all, thank you so much for all the great fic recs, your dedication is absolutely amazing! i wanted to ask if you had any pirate au fics? thank youu 🫶
You're very welcome, Anon! Here are some amazing pirate aus for you to enjoy! PIRATE AUS
A Tale of Two Captains by ClarkeStetler, Goosenik Charles Xavier had wanted to be on the ocean as far back as he could remember. He could remember toddling toward the shipyards as an infant, being snatched away by scolding parents just before he could touch the gleaming vessels. As he grew older, his attention never wavered from the prospect of living life on the seas. At twenty-one years of age, Charles and his ship had its first run-in with pirates, and he saw fit to protect his title and vessel as fiercely as he knew how.
Sonnet for a Poet and His Pirate by luninosity, velvetcadence
Erik had, of course, known his name before they’d ever met. Charles Francis Xavier, Viscount of Westchester. Famous, or infamous, for those scandalous little books of poetry, plain-bound and sold under discreet covers and scorchingly breathtakingly obscene.
We threw our hearts into the sea by hllfire For a moment, there was only the cold water and the feeling of nothingness as he sank. When something touched his skin, however, his eyes opened again, tired, barely seeing anything, and he was sure he was hallucinating.
Voyage desperately to steal it back by flightinflame
Erik hates pirates. Yet he knows that getting aboard the Krakoan not only means he will have a chance to kill Captain Xavier, but hopefully will provide a much needed lead on tracking down Sebastian Shaw, and reclaiming what is his.
To Rattle the Stars by GQD, Pangea
All his life Charles has chafed at the bonds of gravity that hold him bound to tiny and backwater Montressor, more at home in the sky on his solar surfer than on the ground, where he's stuck working at his stepfather's inn. His heart and soul yearn for the stars, and it's his dream to one day be a spacer and sail across the cosmos on adventure.
The opportunity comes sooner than he ever imagined one night when a ship crash-lands on the inn's front doorstep, carrying a dying pirate with a mysterious map and a dire warning: beware the cyborg.

"Captain Logan! Captain Logan!"
The skinny cadet skitters to a halt next to Logan in the rec room, red-faced and a little out of breath. Logan eyes him with a faint frown, sunk deep into a stimm couch, thumbing up the rim of his captain's hat. He's just come off a torturous fifteen-hour shift, and healing factor or not, Logan's starting to feel it. Warp space is hell on his nerves.
"Settle down, bub. What burned your tail... eh..." Logan concentrates briefly. "Cadet McCoy? Hey. Your blue's showing. Settle down."
McCoy takes in several deep breaths, and the blue fur starting to thread out of his skin sinks back in. "Sir, yes sir. Message from X-Command, sir."
A Road to Safety or Ruin by keire_ke Erik should feel only anger when he thinks of the sky-pirates, of their exploits and disregard for laws. By rights he should be glad when one is caught committing a crime on Genoshan land, as it should give him some satisfaction to sentence the man to death. Shouldn't he?

In a split second decision, Charles threw his hat aside and unbuckled his rapier from his belt, letting it drop to the deck with a clatter. Then he flung himself over the rail, to Armando's alarmed cry, and hit the water hard.

O Serviço Geológico é a chave desse cofre.
O caminho coerente não é reduzir o SGB a uma empresa setorial de minerais críticos, mas fortalecer sua natureza pública, técnica e permanente, avançando para um modelo institucional compatível com suas funções reais — uma autarquia ou agência geocientífica de Estado, capaz de garantir estabilidade, autonomia técnica, orçamento adequado e continuidade às políticas públicas que dependem do conhecimento geológico do território brasileiro. there's an old anne rice interview circulating on twitter rn that i remember reading ages ago where she makes a pretty salient point about how submissive men who have bdsm fantasies etc will go to a sex worker and basically order the ala carte version of their fantasy to be performed in real life but women don't really have that same option and certainly not at the same point of availability so they read her horny books instead. and honestly that argument has been in the back of my mind every time people get on their high horses about the popularity of booktok romantasy novels or heated rivalry or whatever the "women are horny and we're upset about that" cultural property du jour is ever since. women, especially straight women, have so few outlets for their sexual desires, especially if they have a partner who doesn't share them, and i will never understand why "someone ELSE'S private sexual fantasy makes me uncomfortable and therefore they should not be allowed to engage with it, even if i am in no way being affected by it or even aware of it at all" is such a popular party line among allegedly progressive young people.
Devils Minion book version TVL bingo card.
@rosieheartkisses Such a great idea ! Might do a show canon version too. @always-394 thanks for the great suggestions.
In au where maglor go to parley instead of maedhros (because he is his herald ) , i think sauron would make him duel him over and over and over again .
Putting the hope of escape just out of reach , if he just managed to beat him this time . His voice slowly get sharper everyday .
One day , the duel cut a little bit too close and it anger sauron greatly , he gag him ( not maim him ) and put him on the cliff as a punishement .
Just in time for rescue to arrive .
Sauron didnt maim maglor's voice durng torture (his songbird would become useless ) but he honed it into something else . It would have been better if he had made him mute .
He turned his voice into something that only can harm . He cant even talk without his mouth filling up with blood , let alone how it affect others . I
