welcome to my kin blog! i answer to kaz, kazuha, kasper, or whatever else you want to call me besides 'human'. i am 22, pronouns he/him and it/its. transmasc, ace, and gay. fox viviterms please :)
this blog is where i put all of my kin-related posts and reblogs, varying from kin discourse to instincts/kin moods to exomems and noemata. i may also post related experiences here, such as daemonism and soulbonding ^^ main blog is @fox-beyond-the-veil.
i am a physical kitsune nonhuman and kaedehara kazuha (genshin impact) fictionkin. physical for both. also, lynette (also genshin impact) fictionhearted!
doubles are ok to interact! minors are allowed, i'd never wanna gatekeep information and i'd be happy to answer questions/give advice, but just know i'm not gonna be your friend for my own comfort.

my daemon is sierra, she/her. I talk in the color blue, and with proper sentences. Kazuha types for me. I'm not the most talkative with others, but I am here.
analytic form: (black morph) timber rattlesnake
symbolic form: european pine marten
I like being travel-sized.
my soulbond is heizou! doubles of him interact with caution, he's still on the fence about that.

Is it a normal fictionkin experience to be a character and to not feel fictional, but feel like the version of you that in the source is fictional and not really you?
The reason I'm hesitant that I'm fictionkin is that treat my source like it's fiction. Like yeah that this stuff probably happened in my past life, but I still draw the fictional version of kintype in contexts of not being a sona or myself.
Also I wish there was word for sona that is like fictional character that, unlike kinsona, is unrelated to alterhumanity, maybe it would clear things up.
I think that's extremely normal, yeah - that's an experience a lot of fictionkin describe, to the point where sometimes people don't even like the word fictionkin because it has the word "fiction" in it. (Which I find a little silly, personally, admittedly - the word isn't saying "you, the person in front of me, are fictional," and I think it's a little bad-faith to interpret it that way.) The idea that you lived a real life somewhere and the fiction of your "source" is just a story that wound up uncannily similar to that life is an extremely common one. And some fictionkin can hold that division so strongly that they don't have any issue with interacting with the fiction as fiction! That's a little less common, just because for a lot of people it's so uncanny valley that it's hard for them to divide it up that strongly, but I've definitely met others who do.
being fictionkfolk can suck because i feel like i've lost the ability to engage with fandom normally ever since my fictotype formed.
simple jokes make me feel dysphoric or frustrated.
Plus, it's difficult to try to interact with things as if i'm not actually just the character talking about herself and her friends. As if i'm not the character reading fiction and looking at pictures about himself.
I don't want to make people uncomfortable, but the truth is that my fictotype bleeds into everything i am and everything i do. There's no me without my fictotype. To try to separate myself from the character in order to prevent causing others discomfort would not only be very difficult, but immensely painful.
I suppose all I'm saying is, i wish it felt acceptable to be me within my fandom. And i wish i wasn't so intensely affected by an experience that's supposed to be lighthearted and fun. I sometimes miss the times before my fictional identity formed, when things seemed much similar
Hm, yeah, fictionhood is definitely something that can make fandom awkward.
For us we can mostly engage in fandom just fine (tolerance varies by headmate, arcade being the least tolerant of fandom and susie rarely caring, for instance), but we have the most hangups when the media or discussion is about us/our source counterpart. like i (kazuha) find it a bit awkward to talk about myself as a unit just because it feels weird to... well, let's just say that i was in the meta for a long time and discussing my strengths as a unit feels almost egotistical. i have no problems talking about people i knew that way, though. i love hyping them up, haha
there is of course the discomfort that comes from seeing people talk like you aren't in the room, good or bad. like... if it's negative that obviously hurts, but positive can be either nice but you can't say thank you without everyone thinking it's weird, or they are waaaaaay too familiar with you. i'm thinking specifically about lots of nsfw art (as we are sex-repulsed and that is very much over the line for us) or being extremely obsessed, is the best way i can describe it. being objectified, in short. and for that reason we try to be mindful of the things we say about other characters.
(I'd like to add, I don't like seeing any fanwork of myself. Unfortunately I'm something of a popular character from my source, so that kind of makes New Vegas fan spaces a bit of a minefield for everyone. Source is fine and so are like, other fictionfolk, but fandom can be... pretty hard. Fandom was a lot easier before we knew we were fictional for sure, even if we still had some of our base-level reactions. - Arcade)
anyway yeah, it's kind of impossible to separate being fictional from daily life. we wouldn't trade it for the world, but we totally get where you're coming from, op.
There's not nearly enough talk about hearttypes, so we wanted to to get conversations rolling by making a collaborative zine about it!
Otherhearted describes a person who has a strong fundamental connection to a species or character which impacts their core sense of self. This is most commonly described in terms of identifying with a being as opposed to identifying as one, although this is not always the case. - Otherkin Wiki
This zine will be a collection of artwork, writing and more all about being otherhearted. Whatever that means to you - both fiction and nonfiction pieces would be accepted. If you got something you wanna express about hearttypes, we'd love to hear it!
Full submission guidelines below the cut.
What Can I Submit?
Both fiction and nonfiction pieces are accepted. As long as what you have in mind fits the theme, it’ll probably be a-ok.
Off the top of our head, we’re thinking of:
Essays of your personal experiences
Short stories
Poetry
Mock advice columns
Alternative covers
Fictional advertisements
Comics
Recipes
We welcome you to think outside the box and share whatever inspires you about being otherhearted!

Submission Guidelines
Each individual may submit up to 3 works to be featured in From Within Our Hearts. Comics and multi-image works count as one piece. Individuals within a system may each submit up to 3 works. All work must be your own! Anyone caught plagiarizing or submitting AI-generated work will be barred from entering any future zines from us.

Being otherhearted / hearttype appreciation
That’s it! Go wild.
No portfolio or prior zine experience is needed to be included.
FAQ
Q: Where will the zine be hosted? What will it cost?
A: The zine will be hosted digitally on our itch.io and will be free to download.
Q: Is there a cap on total submissions to be included?
A: There is none, as long as the file doesn’t start getting too big for our computer we’ll do our best! If there are an unprecedented amount of submissions, we may have to delay the release. In the event that happens, we would communicate that through updates on our tumblr.
Q: Can I update my submission after it’s been submitted?
A: Yes you may, as long as it’s done before the submission deadline.
Q: Can I rescind my submission?
A: Yes you may, as long as it’s done before the submission deadline. This is because once we begin work on the zine, having to remove content mid-way through would throw off the formatting of everything else after. Please take this into account before submitting.
Q: Will this zine allow +18 entries?
A: No, nothing 18+ will be accepted.
Q: Can I submit already completed/published works?
A: Absolutely! It’s ok to submit past work that has been posted to your social media or website. Our only stipulation is that it cannot have been previously featured in another zine. This helps us keep each of our zines unique and distinct from others.
Q: What is your timeline for the project?
A: Our submission deadline is November 15, 2026. Our goal is to have the zine live by the end of the year. If something unforeseen happens and we are unable to make that deadline, we will post an update about it on our tumblr.
Q: I have another question!
A: Feel free to reach out to us at our email nova-dergs(@)proton.me with any other questions you have about the zine.
Decided to go ahead and create an interest form to see if this project is even possible. Please reblog, especially if you are interested
What is the project? It is an idea to create a published book anthology of alterhuman short stories, poetry, etc. I will also be looking for artists for page illustrations and covers
This is not a guarantee you will get in or that the project is currently launching, it is simply to gather interest to see if the project ca
I've never been entirely sure why "treat me like my kintype" and "treat me like a person" are antonyms to a lot of people. Treat me like my kintype. I am my kintype. In the context of interacting with me, that character is a real person.
Sorry to subject you all to a screenshot of Tumblr Mobile, I am a mobile user
First off, nothing I put here is rhetorical, I want everyone to talk about fictionality at all times. 8 )
Yeah, that's my best guess as to what people are talking about? At this point our primary method of engagement with fiction is our fictotypes, not fandom, so I might have a skewed idea of just how hard it can be to reframe your perspective of what treating someone "like that character" means. From my point of view, it reads as saying "I am not actually fictionkin" even when I know that's not what anyone meant.
This is way past overdue, but I finally did it! I cleaned up my fictionkin symbol!
I originally posted my take on a symbol for fictionkind almost a year ago, and it ended up getting a lot more eyes on it than I was expecting! After putting it off for way too long, I was recently encouraged to make SVG versions of the symbol, which led to me finally getting off my rear and doing something about it.
I've provided two different versions of the symbol, which are available as both PNGs and SVGs. These files are all free to use! Repost, reuse, remix, whatever. If you're fictionkin(d) and this symbol speaks to you, I encourage you to do whatever you want with the symbol.
You can download the images and read about the symbol on my Neocities!
And as ever: Don't take this as The Official Fictionkin Symbol! I just wanted to try my hand at a symbol for fictionkind that was meaningful to me and my identity, and it's sort of happenstance that others liked my idea as well. Please don't feel obligated to use it if you don't feel represented by it!
Hiya! This is a Genshin kinfessions blog! I noticed the original @genpact-kinfessions is on a hiatus so I ended up making this one on an impulse looool
Anyone from Genshin can send submissions to this blog regardless if they are a kin, a fictive, a synpath or anything else! Anything related to DAs won't be posted however.

Hey therians, look, we all trying to fight the fight here, but please remember that alterhumanity includes fictional identity, object, concept, inanimated animals, non-animal creatures, those that are closer to humanity, those that experience longing for other place as home, those who are connected symbolically or metaphorically to their identities, those who later come into their identities, and whatever significant identities are explored beyond whatever cultural-specific human typical experience may be.
(And please remember there are multiple cultures in this world)
Therianthropy is alterhuman, but alterhuman is NOT therianthropy.
Otherkin may be nonhuman, but not all otherkin are animalistic nonhuman.
There are fictionkin that can cross all the big categories.
Not everything is “I identify as this nonhuman animal”.
Please remember your fellow community members, please remember there is more beyond one form of experience. You’ve reached beyond the human lens, stop giving yourself a new limitation!
The first chapter has this marvelous map showing where the shrines with specific animals are. :D

The Fox Descends from the Mountains
"You can come across statues of the retainers (fox statues) on the grounds of Inari Shrines across the country, as well as Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto Prefecture. These foxes are the divine messengers of the kami of foodstuffs, Ukanomitama no Ōkami (Inari no Kami). While foxes are considered the divine messengers of Inari Ōkami, they are also deeply connected to the worship of Ta no Kami. Foxes inhabit the wooded areas between mountains and villages—and were often seen by human settlements. Since ancient times, it is said that the mountain kami who bring bountiful harvests descend into villages and become Ta no Kami/Inari no Kami, and as such foxes eventually became associated as the messengers of Inari no Kami. It is also said that the association derives from the way a foxes tail curls like an ear of rice."

As always the standard disclaimer about my fluency applies here.
Hey y'all I just read a paper for my environmental studies class and-
HOLY SHIT GO READ THE ALMOST-END OF IT!!!!!
I need Everybeing right now to know about the concept ki/kin pronouns because- ?????
This is genuinely revolutionary for me and I will be adopting it for both personal use and for other non-human beings in my day-to-day life because AAA!!
It's that something in-between, not anthroprimorphizing, but also not removing Kin's (and our) sentience and deserving of respect
The article is Speaking of Nature (2017) Robin Wall Kimmerer
This is awesome and amazing. Would also really like to add that this author is Native American. When adopting these you are adopting native language and belief systems into your lives. I strongly encourage otherkin/alterhuman/therian individuals using these to really think and give your thanks to native and indigenous culture, which is rooted in animism, nonhuman identities or spirits, and many of the concepts we hold dear. Native Americans see way too much disrespect in this community. Coming from a Choctaw native myself.
