I feel like everyoneâs been really focused on this being an issue of cass herself or cass vs eugene/new dream vs cassunzel etc etc and I absolutely understand. But i feel like itâs just been tearing us apart and creating a whole war thatâs completely unnecessary Because the issue is not cass atp. And luckily iâve seen it calm down iâm rlly happy to see everyone sticking up for cass!! but i feel like weâre not really acknowledging the main issue either, bc at the end of the day, this is an issue of media preservation, and this guy is making a mockery of it.
And iâve seen ppl saying something similar but i feel like even then it always still ends up coming back down to cass vs eugene. That doesnât matter. This is the main issue.
This book is essentially lost media in the worst possible way. We donât even need to âfindâ the media. We know where the media is. itâs right there. itâs purposefully being made inaccessible to us because some greedy asshole wants to brag about it and keep it to themselves.
We should not âbe grateful that this guy is sharing anything at allâ because theyâre posting some low quality photos, being a smug piece of shit and making a mockery of an entire fanbase in the process. @birb-tangleblog put it best I thinkâ theyâre not sharing atp, theyâre bragging. If they cared about sharing, they wouldâve shared all of it. If they cared about preserving it, they wouldâve preserved it. Anyone who even remotely cared about this show, this community, this art form, media as a wholeâ they wouldâve at the very least taken some decent photos. But they donât care about that.
And atp, i wouldâve rather them not share anything at all. Because I had already accepted that weâd never see that thing again. That itâd just go to some greedy, rich disney collector who would keep it to themselves. This is worse. Theyâre purposefully making a mockery of all of us. Because even if you got what you wanted out of this, you didnât win. This guy doesnât care about our community, and they donât care about you, either. They donât deserve the slightest amount of defense or praise.
And on top of all of this they bumped up the price to almost 4 times what it was worth, now possibly cheating us out of ANOTHER book purely bc they set the market price to an absurd level.
âWell, weâre not supposed to have the book at all.â Thatâs true! And legally, no, of course we arenât! Itâs not legal! And it can be argued morally too. I know not everyone will agree with my stance, and I donât care. Welcome to media preservation. Preserving this kind of obscure exclusive media MATTERS because it will otherwise be lost to time. Iâm studying to be a historian, this stuff matters to me. But some people think the fact that itâs fandom or that itâs from a little girls show makes it inherently less worthy of archival. It doesnât.
Itâs art. It has value. It matters. No, we shouldnât have it. Thatâs why we shouldnât go around bothering the crew about it, because they could get in trouble for it and likely wouldnât want to. Thats okay. But if we have the opportunity to, we should be preserving this shit. And we got that taken from us because some guy wants to farm clout out of fans and troll us because they have $3600 dollars to drop and nothing better to do with their life. Itâs people like this who gatekeep media further and help these things become forgotten.
Cass fans deserve better. And overall our COMMUNITY deserves better.

cuz⌠Look. Iâm not gonna lie, this year more than ever, especially as i fell back into steven universe, i got REALLY burnt out from making tts content. and thatâs never happened to me before. Iâve loved the damn movie since it came out when i was 4 years old and, despite being a little late, iâve been in the tts fandom for three years now. But this year something seemed to Change. And for a long time I wasnât sure what. I realized i didnât want to go on the tags anymore. I couldnât really find anything to reblog. In fact looking through the tags usually made me more miserable than anything else.
I realized that i kindaâŚknew what to expect. it was usually always the same. I knew everyone who was posting, and i knew the posts that were gonna come up. a few pieces of fanart, mostly varian or VAT7K related, some moon cassâŚbut theyâre few and far between. more than anything, it was just a lot of critique/analysis posts expressing their dissatisfaction with the show. And I know Iâve kinda mentioned this a few times, so I cannot overstate that i have NOTHING against those kinda of posts. im not attempting to refer to anyone in particular, or âcall outâ anyone, because i understand those posts just as much as anyone else. But it all started to feel the same to me. there wasnât much fanart or fanfic anymore. And the less content i saw, the less inspired i felt. it pushed me away from making anything related to the show for a while. and that made me really sad.
Ive found myself looking back at the fandom in the early days, when the show was still airing. one that i unfortunately wasnt a part of (was too steven universe/splatoon pilled in my early teen years alas). And sure, it was messy, and full of drama, and had plenty of issues in its own right, and iâm absolutely certain i would NOT want to have been thereâ but to itâs credit, it was absolutely bursting with joy, and excitement, and creativity. Because people still had high hopes, they were still eager to speculate, and create, and theorize. there was still that potential lingering in the air, yknow?
I feel like once the show ended, and we had time to look back on itâ that all changed. The disappointment started to set in. I donât think it was what anyone expected, or wanted. I think everyone felt disappointed, or even betrayed, at least in some way. I feel like there used to be this spark in the fandom that justâŚflickered out. VAT7K came along, people moved on. and itâs been really depressing for me to watch it happen. I feel like all thatâs left has been people just mourning what couldâve been.
And i know its just a given that when new people come in, theyâre obviously gonna have critiques about the show that have been said before. There really arent any new critiques to make. but thats the thing. I stopped looking, because i realized that once id heard all the critiques and done all my personal analyses that i hated feeling miserable about something i was supposed to enjoy. something i do enjoy.
And I donât fault them for it. I understand. know nobody does it out of malice. They all care about the show just as much as i do. And itâs not like we SHOULDNT analyze or critique the show eitherâŚwe ABSOLUTELY should. because the show is flawed. it wasnât great. but it wasnât horrible, either. It gave us things we do like. Thatâs exactly WHY we make those posts. because we love it. because the show made us care about these characters enough to feel hurt when theyâve clearly been pushed aside or treated poorly by the narrative.
So its not like i donât have critiques or opinions about the show. Iâll still voice my personal critiques if prompted. I get worked up about things too. There are objectively serious issues in the show and its narratives as well, and those things need to be discussed. theres a lot of racism and conservative beliefs baked into the show that we need to talk about. But at the same time, i donât feel like iâve seen anything in general recently thats caught my attention, or that made me rlly feel anything other than justâŚSad. I realized id much rather take the show for what it is and do something new with it instead. thats why i started drawing fanart, because i wanted to encourage people to do the same. but instead, i feel like the flame just died out faster. I donât know, sometimes i cant help but feel like other people felt the same way i didâŚ.that thatâs why the fandom died out so quickly, why everyone left and the ones who remained just gravitated to VAT7K instead.
And i do know thats definitely not the case for everyone. its not just a case of a dying fandom, i know its also a case of an aging fandom. its been almost six years since the show ended, and eight since it came out. people who started watching and creating stuff in their teen years are adults now. we donât all have the same time we did back thenâŚ.thatâs just a fact of life. Itâs normal that a lot of people would gravitate towards other things and grow out of old onesâŚ.and thatâs why Iâve kinda assumed for a while that theres just not much i can do about it. that as much as it pains me, this is just how it is. this is what the fandom is now.
but this damn event, manâ coming into the tags this evening was like a fucking christmas miracle for me. i mean, onviously birb doesnât post much for the fandom anymore either, so when i saw them post the signups for the event, i was surprisedâ but i thought to myself that surely, there wouldnât be many people joining. there arenât that many people here, after all. and boy was i wrong.
Iâm gushing over gifts that arent even mine right now, dude. I dont even know where to start. im seeing faces both new and old, posting what feels like the most fanart and fanfics iâve seen in over a year. This series means so damn much to me, flawed as it may beâŚand to see this explosion of pieces made with love, and not just of one particular character, but the whole damn castâ it fills me with more joy than i can even begin to explain. there are rarepairs and characters i havenât seen in forever. schnitzfam, casscaine, the brotherhood, oc x canon, new dream, freckle siblings⌠I feel like iâm seeing that spark reignited again. And I donât want that to die. I want to keep that.
So please, and i cannot stress this enoughâ keep creating. Donât spend all your time lingering on what couldâve been. thereâs no way for us to change what already happened. But keep thinking about what CAN be, and make it happen. because thatâs what fandom is about.
I truly donât like to call fandoms âdeadâ. I think as long as there are still people who are passionate about something, and keep creating because of it, the fandom will never truly dieâŚwhich is exactly why I donât want that to happen to tts.
I want more events like this. If this is what it takes to regain that inspiration, hell, letâs have a million community events. I want this spark back. I want to bring this community back together. Because I truly do love it. i love all of you, with all my heart.

Hi ^^, how are you ? Can i ask what inspired you to add Faith to your AU ? I'm curious about it. Also would be sundrop Rapunzel and moonstone Eugene would canon in your story like in the serie ?
A few factors went into the decision to add Faith. First being, I wanted to give Rapunzel another female friend who was softer and less adventurous, to help balance out the group dynamic and give them a quiet softness they were missing. Additionally, I was inspired by the bits I'd seen of @kaijucobra's characterization of Faith in their comics.
As for Rapunzel and Eugene, I'm not entirely sure what you mean đ Cause Eugene never got the moonstone in canon. If you mean Dark Prince Eugene, no, not really. I am still tying him to the Dark Kingdom through his parents being part of the Brotherhood, but I've never really been a fan of him being a secret prince. Felt like it undermined parts of his background and character, personally
