Okay, this is something I'm kinda embarrassed about, but I really want to produce Vocaloid music. Even just as a hobby. I was never really into music much besides singing and playing the uke when I was younger. Vocaloid just made me fall in love. I want to do so many things in life, I want to work but I also want to do art and produce, even if it's bad. My parents left behind their hobbies to pursue their job full time. I love the career that I want to go down but not being able to make my own hours scares me. I want to do all these things but it seems like they won't work with the in-person and honestly hard job I really want to do. I'm passionate but sometimes I think I should just let it go to do art. I'm so conflicted. I want to do both. I wanna go into science AND do art AND make music.
“hatsune miku can’t be -”
ive got a few observations abt antiblackness in progressive spaces that i want to get off my chest, so pls forgive me for being serious for a moment
there’s a troubling amount of nonblack ppl in progressive spaces who will do their level best to put on a show that they care about black issues, only to prove through both action and inaction that they probably don’t spend much time thinking abt those issues on their own time
what inspired this post was actually my mixed frustration and amusement at meme culture. there are so many memes circulating, especially on this website, that were either originated BY black people or created by people explicitly mocking black the way black people talk, that have an amazing shelf life here. nonblack people will find their way to the latest Funny Black Phrase, overuse it, irritate each other for using it too much, and then sometimes turn around and make fun of black people for just talking the way we talk. there’s a wealth of research and information on aave, on its complex history, on its uniqueness as a dialect, but it’s time and again been reduced to “gen z slang,” when nonblack people 9 times out of 10 don’t use it right. to be clear, i’m not criticizing you for giggling at pictures of the little among us bean folk with acrylics and painted lips, and i don’t expect you to be able to escape the ubiquitous “all my homies hate x” and “damn shawty ok” pics, but it IS concerning when i see people on here complaining about how overused they are or making jokes about how funny the gays are when it like. didn’t come from you lol. the same people with BLM and ACAB in their bios will bully black people for their features, and make jokes about how they talk, and covertly ignore them or talk around the issue when called out for it. (if you’re thinking of a corny popular leftist on this website who’s done just that, your gut feeling is probably right--the shoe fits for multiple people.)
it is how time and again black people, often to each other, will point out antiblackness in popular media, only to be met with an avalanche of excuses. time and again people on here talk about how media is a good way to learn moral lessons, while proving through action that what they’d love is to just absorb media in search of the next hot ship instead of stopping to consider how that media distills harmful ideas. you can’t talk out of both sides of your mouth. does media impact real life or does it not? when do you draw the line?
i am irritated with marginalized people who, time and again, complain about the “attention” that black lives matter got in comparison to their issues, and i am especially irritated with marginalized people who make these posts and have the gall to directly demand that black people get involved. chances are we would have gotten involved anyways. it is well documented that black people have lent their time, care, and solidarity to people pushing for radical change. whether you meant to do it or not, you are implying that your movement has not gotten the attention it deserved directly because black people aren’t doing enough, and that is deeply unkind. people are still protesting. the “work” is not done, and hyper visibility will never mean progress.
i’m terrified of getting covid because, as a black woman, i’ve had to contend with doctors dismissing my pain for my entire life & i feel in my bones that i would not receive adequate care. there was a period in 2020 where i was afraid to go outside because i live in a city with a very small black population and i didn’t want to be black in the wrong place at the wrong time. i grew up in the deep south with a family that struggled with the scars of intergenerational disadvantages. my dad got polio young and it left him permanently disabled. when desegregation began, he was bullied for being both black and physically disabled. hearing stories about his worst experiences, spun as fables about why i should always think twice about trusting white people, was a huge part of my childhood. trauma is my inheritance. at the same time, so is my culture. my hair, my music, my clothes, the way i talk--that is important to me. black american culture specifically is a culture that rose out of adversity. it is the culture of a people who had their history cruelly and deliberately misplaced. evidently, people like it--at least, the parts of it they can cherry pick for consumption!
i often think to myself that a lot of people want racism, and specifically antiblackness, to manifest in overt ways. they want to see people being refused service. they want to hear slurs and insults. sure, antiblackness is often direct. my anon is off and it’s not coming back on because people have sent me extremely violent messages behind the veil of anonymity for saying things they don’t agree with. but please don’t forget that antiblackness is apathy too. antiblackness is entitlement. antiblackness is people harshly berating black voters for expressing disenchantment with a democratic party that routinely leaves them in the dust. antiblackness is also performatively thanking black voters for “saving you.” black people who voted in this most recent election especially did not do it for you. we did it for ourselves and our families.
i take umbrage with the idea of allies and allyship because it implies there is an even amount of reciprocity in relationships between those in the margins and those in the center. i think better words are “enablers” and “co conspirators,” because those are titles that you have to earn. it is not enough to just say that you care--if you have BLM in your header, i expect you to show it, too. black people do not owe you politeness, we do not owe you our activism, and we especially do not owe you a neatly worded essay on why you should care about us.
I'm pissed. So, a reminder for everyone.
SLAVERY WAS THAT BAD.
SLAVERY WAS TORTURE.
SLAVERY WAS DEHUMANIZING.
NATIVE WOMEN WERE STERILIZED.
NATIVE PEOPLE WERE GENOCIDED.
NATIVE PEOPLE ARE RAPED AND KIDNAPPED BY WHITE PEOPLE AND DON'T GET JUSTICE.
THE AIDS CRISIS WASN'T HELPED BECAUSE GAY MEN WERE THE MOST AFFECTED GROUP.
BEING QUEER IS AND WAS SEEN AS A DISEASE.
QUEER CHILDREN FEEL SHAMEFUL AND LIKE PREDATORS.
TRANS PEOPLE ARE KILLED EVERYDAY.
IN 2020 THERE WERE ENOUGH TRANSGENDER PEOPLE KILLED FOR BEING TRANSGENDER FOR ALMOST EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR.
THE SUICIDE RATE FOR TRANS CHILDREN IS OVER 40% WHEN THEY DON'T RECEIVE SUPPORT.
TRANS LIVES MATTER. QUEER LIVES MATTER. IPOC LIVES MATTER. DISABLED LIVES MATTER. DON'T FORGET. DON'T LOOK AWAY. WE HAVE LET HATE BREED. DON'T LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN. THIS IS NOT A FUCKING TREND.
REBLOG IF YOU THINK 13 IS NOT TOO YOUNG TO KNOW YOU'RE TRANSGENDER
I will write down the urls of everyone who reblogs this and present it to my mum.
Someone I knew realized he was gay when he was less than 10 years old, so I’m sure the same can be true for trans and non-binary people realizing their gender too.
i knew since i was 3, i just didn’t know what it was
SBXSCEBW IM 13 AND IM TRANS (i think)
it’s the 21st day of the 21st year of the 21st century.
you can only reblog this today.

Please reblog if you think that “they/them/theirs” is a valid set of pronouns.

Same, why do dads hate they/them pronouns??
I use they/them pronouns 😎
Break the stigma
I could not reblog this fast enough
*frantic smashing*
let pansexual people exist jesus fuck
"had to unfollow someone because they're pan" well I, a bisexual, am going to unfollow you
I don't understand it either like bisexuality is a catch-all term that works just fuckin fine but also who GIVES a shit. stop fighting over prefixes that mean the same thing what the fuck.
I legit don't care, and use pan, bi, and omni for myself interchangeably. Because they're all awesome terms and in the end it's just a label.
His name was George Nkencho. This should not have happened. Don't let this go. Say his name.

Black lives still matter, this is a movement not a moment.
Does anyone else go to their profile to check on a post or something and then just keep scrolling down like "Oh, my post is on my da... I'm an idiot."

Hi op I hope this satisfies your needs.
Needs more worms
I wanna make one of these that is like a literal curtain of worms
No clear strings available to get caught and tangle, I want them nose to ass like some kind of horrible human centipede of worms, covering my doorway
@fanotastic more worms

This is… disturbing.

Still a minor tho
Only recently legally able to drive tho
French BLM protesters yelling "dirty jews" at white supremacists counter-protesters would be the height of irony if it wasn't so damn scary. Anyway DENOUNCE ANTISEMITISM IN THE BLM MOVEMENT.

Ice Skating by kozski
You can hear that ice cracking, that is NOT safe to be skating on wtf
This is actually a real sport! People find ice that is justtttt thick enough and skate on it to make these "singing ice" sounds! It's really interesting. I believe "great big story" made a video on this on YouTube.
(This is an extremely dangerous thing to do, please do not do this unless you are a professional.)
for all teencore/webcore folks!
here is a list of fun things I’ve done (& I recommend doing) that are more or less self care!
download a windows XP theme for your computer! it takes a bit of time but it’s super fun, there are tutorials all over YouTube with all the links that you’ll need!
use the wayback machine! it can basically take you back to the old internet, and it’s a way to silently browse Myspace or any site you’d like on pretty much whatever date you like. I’m a personal fan of October 2007 but the great thing is, it’s completely up to you!
specifically for emocore folks such as myself, keep a journal of all your deep thoughts!
draw/write all over your vans/converse!
need to stay up to write a paper? super tired in the morning? got a concert that isn’t starting until late? drink monster energy. believe me, it works like a charm and it’s sooooo good. but it’s super sugary, so remember to brush your teeth!
take pictures with the flash on! this is such a weird and small thing but I find that it really helps!
make a blingee! it’s fun, easy, and free, and you can do absolutely whatever you want. (warning: it does involve a lot of flashing images and eye strains, so please be careful!)
Feel free to reblog and add on!
draw your favorite album art, shirt designs, cartoon character, or emo/scene graphic on paper with markers and stick a bunch of them up on your wall! it’s great for if you don’t have/can’t afford to buy posters, plus they’re super unique and personal!
make a collage of a bunch of emo/scene images and graphics, print them out, and put them up too! I used to have a whole bunch of them around my computer!
doodle on the covers of all of your notebooks (like the one in Knives And Pens!), especially if it’s your journal!
use some cool looking duck tape (or some stickers) to make a neato laptop cover!
as an alternative/supplement to a physical journal, you can also check out LiveJournal! LiveJournal was very popular among emo and scene kids back in the 2000s
make your own wallpapers and backgrounds in Photoshop (and maybe Gimp which is free) with some brushes like these! you can find a bunch more of these on DeviantArt and the authors of some of the featured brushes have a whole bunch more on their profiles
use christmas lights to decorate your your room! I have mine running around the perimeter of my room and they’re available in almost all colors
buy Halloween decorations from Dollar Tree/99 Cent Store/Five Below and use them for your room! you’ll have to get a little crafty and inventive but the results are awesome! These can also be good places to find sort of emo/scene looking clothes, but also try thrift stores for those
look up Glitter Graphics and browse through a bunch of them! You can add these to most of your internet profiles and make them look awesome! also check out JellyMuffin and Zwani!
watch cartoons and anime fore free on KissCartoon and KissAnime! You can also read manga on KissManga!
download Windows Movie Maker and make an AMV! there’s instructions on how to download and install it on YouTube like this one and links to the setup application here.
make a Nightcore remix of your favorite songs! you can do this with a free audio editing program called Audacity.
upload your AMVs and Nightcore remixes onto YouTube OR try out VidLii! VidLii is a recreation of old YouTube, complete with completely customizable channel profiles!
sign up for FriendProject! FriendProject is a clone of MySpace 1.0, fully functioning, and with a decently sized and friendly community on there. best part is that all of the theme websites like Glitter Graphics, Pimp My Profile, and Free Code Source still work! You can even make your own theme/edit an existing one on Pimp My Profile!
change your Tumblr’s theme/layout to match old MySpace or Xanga! You can even use Glitter Graphics to decorate them!
create your very own webpage on either GEOCITIES (how to do it here) or Angelfire! Definitely use those Glitter Graphics for that!!
make a drawing in Paint! most Windows computers should come with Paint on them and you can also try out Gimp! if you want, you can upload what you make to DeviantArt!
there’s a bunch of other really cool games/sites to check out as well! I recommend taking a look at Gaia Online, MapleStory, Wizard 101, IMVU, Mabinogi, Webkinz, Runescape, 4Story (Gates To Andaron), Minecraft, and Neopets!
Okay, that’s my go at it. What else do you think we should add?
I just thought of one more thing I’ve done!
Make a playlist on YouTube called “(Your Name Here)’s MTV”! Include a whole bunch of your favorite music videos, live performances, and interviews!
i just remembered i have a google doc with some stuff that i could share on this post!!
for some more graphics, theres phunkyphresh! it’s targeted towards a more scene/emo audience, so theres alotta stuff you might like!!! and if i recall, there might also be some myspace themes that could work on friendproject !!!
if you want to make a website like the ones geocities and angelfire, theres also neocities!
I just looked at phunkypresh. That website is aesthetic as fucc
I’m bored and sleepy so I’m gonna do a couple more of these.
get’cha some fingerless gloves, long striped socks, and arm warmers!
come up with your SCENE NAME! Typically, a good scene name is an allusion to a celebrity, a cool word as a last name, or simply an alliteration. The Nu Scene Tumblr Blog has a whole list of great scene names!
look up “how to draw anime” and create a drawing of yourself in an anime style
create some OCs, ponysonas, gemsonas, fursonas, trollsonas, any kind of persona that you want
print out a couple of photos of your favorite bands, singers, guitarists, words of encouragement, or graphics of lyrics you like and slip them into your mirror’s frame (or tape them)
get snakebites! if you can’t get them, find some faux lip rings!
wear some fake vampire fangs for selfies or when hanging out with friends
buy blank shirts or hoodies and customize them with your own designs, such as stars, angel wings, bats, hearts, cats, skeletal bones or whatever strikes your fancy!
make holes in hoodies or long sleeve shirts and decorate them with safety pins! be careful not to poke yourself with them!
wear two belts! one that you wear sideways and another that you let hang just like like this
get a bedazzler and bedazzle… whatever you want! your laptop, phone, jeans, hairbrush, frames of glasses, belts, even your converse if you so choose~ bedazzle some patterns or designs onto stuff
find a messenger bag or purse and cover it with pins, buttons, patches, and accessories! you can carry all kinds of things in there whether it be your journal, makeup, phone, or laptop if it can fit!
get an emo/scene hair cut, either at a hair salon or cut it yourself! only use hair cutting scissors or a hair cutting razor, or a razor comb. only cut your own hair if you’re sure that you know what you’re doing, consider using two mirrors to cut the front and back of your hair. cut diagonally to layer the hair (find videos online for a better explanation). if you have super thick hair, find some thinning shears and look up how to use them as well!
spike the back of your hair! using a comb, you can tease up some of your hair, but with a little but of hair gel you can spike up your hair! and also consider instead of gel, using hair wax, pomade, or even hair glue depending on what works best for you
straighten your hair! use some clips to pull up your hair and flat iron your hair one section at a time while using heat protectant spray. if this isn’t give you the results you want, consider and research Japanese Straightening, Brazilian Keratin Treatment, or Brazilian Blowout!
if you have emo/scene hair but don’t want it to get messed up while you sleep, sleep with a beanie on! this is also good for if you just got done straightening it and your hair is still just a little too poofy!
if you’re still having trouble with getting your hair to lay down, rub in just a little bit of either coconut oil or hair food, and be careful not to use too much!
if you can’t dye your hair but still want some cool hair colors, try out temporary hair color spray, hair chalk, or colored hair wax!
get some striped extensions!
making your own kandi bracelets are a right of passage! go to a local craft store and look for some different assortments of beads. Shapes, letter blocks, and pony beads. Also get some elastic cord. these can be great friendship bracelets, spell out some words like “RAWR XD,” “TACOS” or “SCENECORE,” and make some in homage to your favorite bands!
you can also find other things in craft stores to make your own jewelry and accessories. the same beads you used for the kandi braclets and some other things you’ll find can also be used to make necklaces!
basic emo/scene eyeliner and eyeshadow can be found cheap at Dollar Tree or Walmart. when doing your eyeliner, you can smudge it to give it a more emo and edgy look. also try out different colors of eyeshadow such as red (Gerard Way), black (Pete Wentz), or even pink (Wil Francis).
google instrumentals/karaoke versions for songs you like and sing covers of them, recording them on your phone or laptop’s camera. if you want, upload them to YouTube or VidLii!
if you can play an instrument, consider writing and recording your own song on your phone or laptop and upload that as well!
have a copy of Everybody Hurts available at all times and treat that thing like a sarcastic, satirical bible
reread some books from your childhood that you haven’t touched for a long time. some recommendations include Warriors, Artemis Fowl, Deltora Quest, Twilight, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Fablehaven, Ghostgirl, The Spiderwick Chronicles, and House of Night!
read Homestuck! it’s hella!
listen to Welcome To Night Vale! it’s also hella!
read creepypastas on the Creepypasta Wiki! extremely hella! Just don’t stay up too late reading these, or else you might not be able to fall asleep!
download Visual Boy Advance! This is an emulator that allows you to play old Gameboy and Gameboy Advance games on your computer! There are hundreds of games available in ROM form, files that can be loaded up and played directly through the Visual Boy Advance!
search online for your own Sidekick/Danger Hiptop phone (or any similar QWERTY flip or slide phone) and order it (ideally unlocked). be sure to do your research and read everything in the description before buying one
Add on to this list! Us scenecore/teencore/webcore/emocore peeps need your help to expand the list with more ideas!
one more quick one for tonight
have an army of stuffed animals/plushies on your bed. they can be Skelanimals, Gloomy Bear, Pokemon, Ugly Dolls, Neopets, Emily The Strange, Webkinz, Sonic, My Little Pony, Hello Kitty, Tokidoki, or ones you’ve made yourself!
still living for these
Ah yes. My bucket list
