“Supergirl is bad”
Having seen both Superman and Supergirl I realized I love them both for a very specific reason: they've both given me exactly what I wanted.
Superman let Clark be caring and human in a way most superhero movies don't seem to let their protagonists get, and the movie prioritized life and humanity as the core of why Superman does what he does. He values every life no matter what and does everything he can to save people, with a level of kindness and compassion that is often overlooked in the majority of big blockbuster action movies that care too much about cool explosions to worry about how many casualties they would have created in the process.
Supergirl let Kara be a flawed and messy character, as someone who makes mistakes and isn't always perfect but still tries to do the right thing. Kara wasn't sexualized or made into a #girlboss at all, and she had no romantic love interest forced into the movie. The bond she does form is with a young mentor and the relationship isn't framed as maternal or motherly in the slightest. She was written as a complicated but caring individual who is dealing with her trauma as best as she can.
In Superman I got to see a hero who actually cares about the lives he saves, and in Supergirl I got to see a hero who actually got to be a person with depth and flaws.
if supergirl 2026 has 1000 fans, i am one of them. if supergirl 2026 has 100 fans, i am one of them. if supergirl 2026 has 10 fans, i am one of them. if supergirl 2026 has no fans, i'm dead.
SUPERGIRL WOMAN OF TOMORROW (2021-2022) written by Tom King; illustrated by Bilquis Evely & Matheus Lopes
Rip Yut-Lung you would have loved brat summer
the thing that annoys me the most about the supergirl hate is that when superman came out last year my (instagram) feed was flooded with hopecore and people hyping it up, "kindness is punkrock" and everyone was seemingly so inspired to do good, they all loved that superman defeated a rich person and stood up for the oppressed. there was still hate for the movie but the positivity drowned it out
now that its supergirl, all i've seen is hate with very little defense which is insane because how could people not like sex traffickers being beat up? why would we not want women to do good things? there just isnt enough hype for this movie, and i genuinely think that the people who have seen it and still hate it, unless they have a VERY good reason, are simply sexist, because most of them don't have a reason outside of "Shes annoying"
The way some people fawned over the supergirl cameo in superman 2025 vs how the same people reacted to supergirl 2026 tells me everything I need to know about them
Just watched supergirl and oh my god i am so obssed with the fact that we have a female main character and shes sloppy and snippy and rude and an alcoholic and messy and flawed. And yet shes still able to be kind and good and be an inspiration to people. All while not having a romance and while not trying to appeal to anyone. This is what everything should be.
Look I don't think Supergirl (2026) is secretly a perfect masterpiece or anything (I personally thought it was like. a 6/10 fun time) but I do think it's wild that Tumblr isn't going crazy for it because this Kara is one coattailed suit away from being a Tumblr sexyman. she is the flawed messy female character people have supposedly been clamouring for. she's the popular archetype of a gruff self-destructive alcoholic middle-aged man begrudgingly having to look after a kid and growing fond of them but genderswapped and also 23. she's allowed to be visibly messy and kind of gross and her hair is constantly all over the place and she literally cries, screams, throws up, and pisses onscreen. she's caustic and mean and puts up an act of carelessness but has a heart of gold. she's heavily traumatised and coping with it terribly. if anything happens to her dog she will kill everyone in this room and then herself. she spends most of the movie in a trench coat and baggy band T-shirt. she gets into bar brawls and breaks a guy's hand. she is Going Through It 24/7 and looks the part. she stabs a guy in the throat. how is everyone else not obsessed with her.
I saw this last weekend, and I give it a B+, not amazing, but still a fun ride.
Idk I loved it, 10/10 for me idc
I am back, anyway here is my BF AU that just came to me in my daydreams
It is a High school AU (how original:)) but a little bit different. This time Ash and Yut-lung start out as childhood friends because they have the same tutor (Blanca) because they are of course too smart for middle school.
In this Yut-lung is a trans girl who was actually adopted by Dawson because he was rescued from his psychotic family through an FBI bust but that happened shortly after his mother died and he doesn't remember or know too much about his original family. Her personality is pretty rebellious and is known as a mean girl because she snaps easily and has love to point out the people's flaws and use them against them but she actually has a good heart. She does occasionally do drugs and likes to party (living that brat life) while enjoying feeling smarter than the average person.
Ash was a quiet and shy kid but as a teenager everyone finds him cool because of his style and laid back attitude. He spends most of his time in the library and has a love hate relationship with the librarian. Yut-lung constantly calls him a hipster or a Kurt Cobain wanna be but in a bff way and yes he listens to old rock bands and Nirvana. Once Griffin turned 18 he fought to have Ash's custody and leave his abusive family behind. They are broke and the only reason Blanca tutors Ash is because he owes Griffin. Max is Griffin's buddy from childhood and helps them out from time to time. His toxic trait is hanging around gangs trying to be the Avatar
Eiji is a transfer student from Japan and amateur photographer that carries his main camera and Polaroid everywhere he can and of course he is an athlete that many thirst over. Yut-lung thinks he gives off Ed Sheeran energy. There is a small rivalry between them and their personalities clash pretty often but they still stay friends because the friction is what's keeping them close. His personality is friendly and helpful but gets annoyed easily and can put a hoe in place. He also listens to old bands and that's the thing that brought him close to Ash in the first place. After about a year of knowing each other they become a couple.
Shorter, well if you watched Euphoria he is basically Fez in this scenario. He is a chill cool dude who sells low risk drugs and "adopted" Skip from the streets. One day Ash randomly saves his ass from a rival gang and they become friends. He almost dropped out of high school but Ash didn't let that happen and helped study. Even Yut-lung helped him and they a short fling but Yut-lung found him to be too goofy and the mohawk was the last straw for her. They are still friends tho. He is a big fan of Dupstep even when people forgot about it.
Sing is one year younger than the group and at the start tries too hard to be like Shorter until Yut-lung calls him out and then starts to find himself. He became part of the group through Shorter because they are neighbors and spent a lot of time together in their childhood too. Despite initially being intimidated by Ash and Yut-lung, he sees how laid back Ash is and that he takes him seriously. When it comes to Yut-lung he enjoys teasing her while trying to hide his crush on her. He listens to old school hip hop and backstreet boys. He lives with Lao and their alcoholic mother who pretty much sleeps all day. He is pretty nerdy despite not showing it.
Additional information:
Cain joins the friend group at some point and he is punk.
I made Ash and Yut-lung bffs because I think that they are very similar in background and in thinking.
Part of the plot is Yut-lung discovering and remembering what happened to his original family.
The other part is mob boss Dino who targets the group and wants to traffic them. How does he know about them? Wellll the group has a run in with the group because they broke in one of his "abandoned" mansions where he keeps his weapon arsenal and they set off the alarm. He stalks them constantly and tries to break them one by one in order for them to join him and be exploited in various ways.
Everything happens in this current irl timeline, yes they are gen z
So basically this is the AU, hopefully it's as interesting to you as it is to me. I have other AU's in my head too, mostly about Yut-lung cuz they are my favorite.
If someone wants to use this as a prompt to write a fanfic by any means please do✨

Itachi seems to be the type of guy that is very popular with older women in his universe. His calm energy and polite nature makes the old women he encounters swoon over him and I can just imagine them being like "what a handsome and polite young man" and giving him random free stuff. Besides, I can imagine awkwardly smiling when the old ladies compliment him.
Of course this happens mostly when Kisame is not there because he spooks them.
Shinigami: Well, looks like it’s just me and you again.
Karai: …
Shinigami: Let’s go make fun of your fake dad.
i only like enemies to lovers if it’s gay because i think men who are mean to women don’t deserve to live

I not sure if someone already mentioned this, but surely yes but anyways. Karai wasn't meant to be the turtles half sister/ step sister from the beginning.
It's quite obvious that at first she was going to be Leo's love interest in a Batman x Catwoman way and came up with the plot twist that she is Splinter's daughter later (because it is a good plot twist) but made things very awkward if you remember the romantic undertones of Leo's and Karai's relationship.
I feel like the writes should have adressed this somehow in the show instead of ignoring it but it is what it is.
Whose idea was it to let kids become ninjas at such young ages
Sasuke be saying edgy stuff while looking like this
Hatake Kakashi on his first mission as a genin (colorisation)
I always said that the ages of the characters don't make sense especially in Itachi's case
