And I don't even really mean that in a bad way: I genuinely like this since I think this allows him, a goofy sunshine man (whom the fandom loves to infantilize), to have more interesting depth to his character.
Like, after losing his two brothers when they were so tragically young, Hashirama dreamed with Madara of creating a village so children could grow up without war. But then it utterly twists around once it's made and he bears the burden of leadership, and now Hashirama cares more for the well-being of the village than the people he built it for. He would kill Madara. He would kill Tobirama. He would kill his child he had with Mito. Because now, the village comes first. Not the people he built it for.
Is it because Hashirama feared going back to that previous life where the world was constantly at war, so much so that he would kill anyone who threatened the village's "peace", even if it was the ones he loved? Was it because the burden of leadership utterly changed him and made him believe that there would come a time where he would have to sacrifice the lives of the few to save the many, and he might one day have to make the difficult call of sacrificing a loved one for the sake of the village?
Like, this man had no problem capturing and enslaving Tailed Beasts to distribute them among the nations for the sake of "peace". I also wonder if that mentality also enabled Tobirama's experimental jutsus and mindset when he became Hokage, and if that, in turn, inadvertently influenced Tobirama's students and squad, given the creation of ROOT, abandonment of Uzushio, and the ostracization of the Uchiha Clan...
I wish we knew more of Hashirama. Like, I know we meet him in the Fourth Shinobi War as an Edo Tensei, but that's him when he's older and having had time to reflect and regret while dead. Everything else we know of him is from secondhand sources who look at him in a flattering light. But I want to know the real Hashirama. The younger Hashirama. The Shodaime Hashirama. The Hashirama who founded Konohagakure with his best friend. The Hashirama who cut said best friend down. For the good of the village.
*Shakes Kishimoto* GIVE US A PREQUEL SERIES, DAMN IT!
Many believe that the relationship between Sasuke and Team Taka are just surface level and that Sasuke merely regards them as a tools.
But it was shown time and time again that Sasuke has a deep connection with Team Taka so much so that they reminded him of the bond he had with Team 7 and this is where he unlocked a new ability just to save them (Chapter 414)
More below the line 👇
The theme of becoming strong for those you care about has existed since the start of the manga (Chapter 21):
And prior to unlocking his abilities, he had displayed multiple looks of worry towards his team. (Chapter 413)
And here’s another moment.
His bond with them was brought into question, yet he made a worried expression. If Sasuke didn’t care about them, he wouldn’t have made that face. (Chapter 579]
“He saved them because he needed to use (them as tools)”
If that was the case then he wouldn’t have said this:
You’re probably saying, “doesn’t this go against his bond with them?”
And it’s actually the opposite, he chose them first (out of all the options he had) and didn’t want to force them to go along with him if they had refused.
Him saying “I’ll try someone else” implies he had other people in mind, yet if he regarded Team Taka as tools plus had a backup plan, why would he go out of his way to save someone he could replace while also blinding himself further?
Another thing to note is that this all occurred after Itachi’s death and the revelation/truth of his clan. Meaning he still had a mental wound and was going through grief, yet he still very much displayed care towards his team (the bee fight).
Here is them together, at Sasuke’s most vulnerable moment.
This is the very first time Sasuke has cried throughout the whole series. Would he show such a side to people he didn’t care about ?
The second (and last) time he cried was with Naruto, the person who understood him the most.
This shows they mean something to him and that he truly did care.
a lot of people say that Naruto would want to get along with a fellow family member because of his upbringing, and I think that would be the case if Naruto and Karin had met during Naruto part 1 or early Shippuden. But with Naruto getting more mature throughout the series, even if he was desperate for familial connection, he probably would dislike Karin for her ethics…
but who knows 🤷♀️ Naruto did forgive a lot of bad people throughout his life
also peep the Uzumaki symbol on Naruto’s side but not on Karin’s. She hasn’t ever identified herself as an Uzumaki (it was Kabuto that revealed it) and I headcanon it has something to do with her upbringing.
and finally the big Uzumaki symbol in the middle that ties the both of them together, whether they like it or not.
That's why I wholeheartedly ignore the author's intention to say Rin, had she been alive, would have sided with Obito, and in canon she likes him way more than she likes anyone and anything else cuz
Ah yes. Obito definitely kept working real hard to achieve the promise he told her... about becoming a hokage and saving the world. Surely he did... when he attempted to bomb their sensei's newborn in front of his parents just for revenge. which Rin is fully aware about, mind you, as she admitted her afterlife stalking
I genuinely can't believe Kishimoto managed to accidentally write a character as crazy as her
Been really obsessed w sakukarin of late and the idea of sakura teaching karin medical ninjutsu so she wouldn't have to rely on her kekkei genkai (which led to her being sexually exploited & her mother dying - sakura doesnt know that but she can See Signs) and karin just being very badly adjusted about it and insisting that she's too special for all that
Okay so timeline is after Sasuke Vs Kakashi, Sakura and Naruto after the Five Kage Summit arc so around here
Since Karin’s sensory is really good + she’s at death door I thought wouldn’t it be cool if she saw Rin ?! So originally, it was supposed to be with Obito instead of Kakashi that Karin saw Rin BUT Karin was relatively healthy when Obito was around and and I thought it would a nicer touch if Rin became spiritually attached to the person who killed her 🥰
+ i kinda rambled about it in this post near the bottom
I also kept changing Rin’s headband’s symbol, to either question mark or the leaf insignia buttt I stuck with the question mark since I thought it looked neat on her and matched her vibe iykwim..
Sorry if this is all incoherent and low quality mess, I rushed through this but I really needed to get this out of my mind 🥹✌️
