So this is just an idea but… what if Zangei is Rock Lee’s father?

Rock Lee’s parents are never revealed or even mentioned within the series. We can assume that means he is an orphan, which wouldn’t be unlikely in the Shinobi world.

Zangei is a bounty exchange master who works with the Akatsuki, more specifically Kakuzu. He has a drop off station within the land of fire, which suggest that he lives within the Land of Fire, he may even be from one of the villages within the land of Fire. Of course now he has to stay hidden due to the nature of his business but what about before then?

Let’s look at the facts:

In Part II when Zangei is introduced he is 36 years old, at this time Rock Lee is 16 years old. The would mean that if Zangei was his father, he would have been 20 when whoever Rock Lee’s mother was, had him. That does not seem like an unreasonable age, especially when you consider that most of Kishi’s characters, if they do have kids, have them in their 20s. Now the family resemblance, they both have black hair, their eyebrows are almost identical and they even have similarly designed eyes.

Now we don’t know much about Zangei but if he were have a child, both Rock Lee’s age, looks, location and the fact that he is an orphan would all make sense.
