I know there are bigger problems, but I fucking hate the appropriation of the word "golem".
Just say "elemental construct" or something.
I don't think there's an argument here, it's a Jewish culture term... Invent your own terms and leave ours alone.
Flesh golem? That's a homunculus.
Magic caster created golem? That's a magical construct.
Naturally occurring golem? That's an elemental.

A setting without Jews by definition cannot have golems.

I don't know, I grew up playing Dragon Quest, starting with the very first game, and I found the use of golems charming and flattering. I loved that an element of my culture was being used in a game I loved.
Maybe an exception should be made for cultures like Japan that so freely share themselves with the world; they should be allowed to use elements from other cultures all they want, just as I have written haiku in Yiddish and sell a shirt that said "Yudaya-jin"
Wouldn't that make America free to appropriate any culture too, though? No, because America imposes its culture on the world through physical and economic and linguistic imperialism. Japan doesn't (anymore); Japanese people largely make works for Japanese audiences that a lot of people outside Japan love and identify with.
The best example I've been given of Golems being represented well in a setting without Jews is, Feet Of Clay by Terry Pratchett, I think Terry did a fabulous job but even then I'm torn.
However it very much is currently and historically Japanese National Policy to use Otaku Culture internationally to foster cultural recognition, build soft power, and create a market for Japanese goods.

There are several Japanese works such as Outbreak Company and Gate that satirise the Government's use of Otaku culture to foster international soft power and cultural recognition, by moving that scenario to an interplanetary/interplanar push run by the military/military intelligence as a quiet conquest of the other world.
The Japanese Government is currently beefing with Crunchyroll over unsanctioned Western Localisation of Japanese Media.
Japanese people are very free with their culture partly because Shinto is open to everyone, and Buddhism is also open to everyone as they seek to liberate everyone from suffering and the cycle of reincarnation. Mostly they are free with their culture because it's National Policy and the cultural foundation of universalist religious practices just made it easier. This is very much not the same as the appropriation of Golems, Japanese people are capable of learning a different word.
How would you feel about using a Golem in a superhero context, in our world and a historical setting?
The superhero universe I'm constructing, as most do, starts in WWII with at least 3 Jewish main character in the original lineup and I thought doing something with the Golem of Prague during the battles in Czechoslovakia might be fun. If the response is "hands off, goy" then I will accept that, but advice or pointers on good useage would be appreciated too! ^^
I don't think goyim inherently cannot write a Golem story. I think a bespoke Golem rather than using the Golem of Prague avoids stepping on toes (I'm not ashki or from the region). I think a Golem is already a superhero, and there's an existing idea of Captain America being a Golem surrogate, created by a Jew in a time of great danger to be the protector of the Jewish people. So an actual Golem in a similar role or like the Golem in Supernatural, Everybody Hates Hitler (Supernatural; Season 8, Episode 13)
I liked Grimm's take on the golem. In the episode "Dying On a Prayer", a rabbi casts a spell that raises a golem to protect his sister and nephew from his sister's abusive ex husband. The golem is then dismissed when said nephew tells it to go.
To me, the common thread here between Grimm and Supernatural is that both golems were a)created by Jews b)in order to protect Jews and c)do not have their natures demonized.
This is in contrast to things like Ragman, where the golem is created by Jews to protect Jews, but its creation is treated as unnatural and an inferior means of protection to other forms of mysticism. Ragman also has an idea that there's not enough power in the world for both Ragman and the golem to exist, which is pretty insulting in a world with dozens of superheroes.
My least favorite use of the word golem is Dragon Age, where they're created as a defensive army by binding people's souls to stone.
If it's not too much a problem, I would like opinions on the 'Golems' In Death's Gambit Afterlife. I'm doing a rewrite of a lore post and really want to dig into this.

The thing is, unless you come across a particular item that's out of the way, you wouldn't know these are called golems at all. You could run through the game and just assume they're a robot.
There's also that a very powerful wizard created it-there's 5 wizards of this type that are meant to protect the world and thus have far greater power.
My problem is that I see these 'golems' as a massive blind spot-every thing else I've come across and delved into plays with a concept but still keeps aspects of what makes the creature what it is. It's very easy to look something up and be like 'oh! I see where this came from now!' Here, these 'golems' just are protectors but that's it. Like they're not evil or anything, they're just there to protect and don't really look like how golems should.
My thoughts are to point this out and recommend Talos be used instead, especially since the helmet looks kind of Greek and it drops Gaian blood, which are based on the Gigantes and well as an abyssal eye, which is connected to a very evil god (though not unique to the 'golems' as another creation also drops those items too, the implication being these are used as sources of power). Or that said wizard is of a tribe that would stand in for/refer to Jewish people and chose to modify parts-like perhaps the golem is wearing armor? Said wizard is also an astrologist and has power over the cosmos as well-I don't know if that would factor in as good or bad or whatever.
Any ideas are welcome here as I do want to critique but also offer suggestions as I don't think it's from a place of malice, but ignorance.
It seems like the name Golem was superfluous to begin with, if the player finding out that bit of lore is practically an easter egg. If they're supposed to be protecting the place Guardians is a better title in that it both explains what they are and what they do. Being powered by anything other than Divine Words is not particularly Golem, being powered by a piece of an evil god is very not cool imo.
The thing is that Rabbis aren't wizards, and the Jewish mysticism connected to the Golem isn't wizardry. There are many tribes in the world and many types of mysticism and magic, being from a tribe and an astrologer mystic doesn't make him the Baal Shem Tov.
