i don't want this to come across as condescending. but when i talk about the never ending crisis after crisis that disabled people face it is strange when people just link it it burnout. like yeah regularly overdoing it will lead to burnout. but it also leads to disability. ableds in permacrisis regularly become disabled as a result. disabled people regularly become more disabled as a result. being in a state of relentless deficit can and will burn you out. and it can make your health permanently worse. a lot of disabled people are disabled because their health got worse and just never recovered. and, as disabled people, we are painfully aware that there's only so far we can be pushed before the consequences become severe. not just burning out. not just having your health deteriorate again. serious health scares, losing large swaths of our abilities, shortening our life expectancy, mental health going to ruin, dying, becoming homeless... I'm not saying burnout is easy but I am asking people to consider that there is n bottom line. if we fall too far and slip through the net then we're done for, and disabled people who are barely managing and working in an unsustainable environment are painfully aware of this possibility

I hate how often some (typically abled) people will go “well, if you can’t [get a specific support], then what?” when it comes to disabilities. As if it’s a “gotcha” moment. And then act like you’re exaggerating when you answer that question honestly.

Disabled people often die from a lack of support. A lot of disability aids are not a luxury, but a basic need in order to live.

“Well what happens if—” people die. People hurt themselves. People hurt others. Disabled people don’t magically become abled if our needs aren’t met.

If a bedbound quadriplegic is caught in a housefire, and there’s nobody there to save them, they’ll probably die. They won’t magically become able-bodied out of sheer will.

If a nonspeaking/nonverbal autistic is denied access to alternative methods of communication, they’ll suffer in silence. They won’t spontaneously become capable of speech.

Disabled people are disabled all the time. Our disabilities don’t go away just because they’re inconvenient, or if we’re in danger.

I hate being in a group society picks and chooses when is real, I'm sorry my body is right but I'm real, disabled people are real and ablism is rooted into everything in little ways I never noticed before, I'm real

sometimes im not even trying to spam like tumblr just feeds me all of your posts and i gobble it up like a malnourished child from the 1600s eating chocolate for the first time

Sighhh dennis working on night shift for the first time and having a flare up of his undiagnosed chronic illness, so he either passes out or his legs go limp and other staff rush over to help him and he's reassuring everyone he's fine but they insist they do a check up, and for one reason or another abbot is doing the check up and he's like "dang that must have been scary" or something and Dennis is just like "nah this happens all the time" while waving his hands and abbot is just like "😐, were gonna run some tests" and he gets diagnosed with (I cant decide)
