In this household, we like the sneks. And the gays. And the neurodivergents. [Header Description: A low-quality image of an albino milksnake poking her head out of a coconut hide. Hello! You can call me Noodle. I have Fox to thank for that nickname.
Please stop sending me aid requests. I tried, but I do not have the resources to vet them all and it is really negatively impacting my mental health. I have donated to several fundraisers and aid organizations, but I can’t do the ask thing anymore.
Please, please, please, if you can, write to your senators to urge them to support the No Kings Act. The link I embedded is free, simple, and easy to follow. Millions of lives are at stake.
If you know why @bear-owo and @mentallyillanimal deactivated their accounts, I would appreciate being told.

Warnings
Since I am autistic, I struggle with social interactions and understanding things. I would appreciate patience.
If I make mistakes, please tell me! Also, I swear I am pretty much never trying to be rude, offensive, or insulting, even if it seems that way. If I say something wrong/bigoted/misleading, please let me know! If my blog isn’t accessible, please let me know how I can improve it (I try to include image descriptions on most of my own images, though unfortunately I struggle with adding them to others’). This is meant to be a safe space. :D
About Me
I am nonbinary and neptunic (or lesbian, if that makes more sense, though I’m also aro/ace lol), and anything other than she/her pronouns are fine with me.
I am white, trilingual (Portuguese, Spanish, and English, though I’m learning ASL), and from Brazil. 🇧🇷 Oi, gente!
I am also autistic, and have a whole bunch of other neurodivergences. I am able-bodied and have relatively low support needs.
As you may be able to tell, I like to yap, so I’ll probably answer any questions you may have! Ask away if you feel like it!
My special interests are: snakes, atypical psychology, Greek mythology, and Egyptian mythology. I also like horror as a genre, as well as art in general.
Some more specific things I like, though, include Dimension 20, The Owl House, Extraordinary Attorney Woo, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Arcane, Five Nights At Freddy’s, Heartbreak High, Heartstopper, Young Royals, Gravity Falls, Red, White, And Royal Blue, Nimona, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Melanie Martinez, Sub Urban, Jack Stauber, and Evelyn Evelyn. Feel free to rant to me about any of these!
Interactions
I love interacting with folks on here! If you ever want to send me a message, or an ask, or a vent, feel free to do so!
I swear occasionally. Not that often, though.
I don’t technically have much of a tagging system, though I do tag posts that involve someone needing help with “help help help” and asks with “ask ask ask ask”.
Terminology Stuff
To avoid misunderstandings, this is how I use certain terms (and honestly, the main ways they should be used):
Nonspeaking - Not able to reliably communicate through speech (long-term).
Nonverbal - Not able to reliably communicate through speech, and sometimes words (long-term).
A lot of people who cannot speak use this term, and it’s important to respect their preferences.
Important posts about these: https://www.tumblr.com/five-thousand-loaves-of-bread/712714609459593216/my-frustration-with-going-nonverbalnonspeaking
“Haha remember when murder-hornets were gonna be a thing? What a nothingburger.”
Yes, because the Washington state government activated like a sleeper-cell and ruthlessly, systematically hunted them down and annihilated them.
“Y2K came to nothing amirite?”
Yes because an army of software engineers working around the clock, losing sleep, and busting ass till the last minute prevented it from happening.
“Remember the hole in the ozone layer?”
You mean the one that was fixed through rigorous world wide government action?
One of the root problems of our society is a refusal or inability by media to articulate that all those “it’s gonna be an apocalypse” disasters were not disasters because we collectively did something about them.
The good news is this is actually quite correctable. I maintain my firm belief that we as humans are capable of solving almost all of our problems, when we decide to do so.
And I still think that’s going to happen. I don’t know when or how, but I do know that abandoning hope won’t help bring it about.
And I refuse to let the cynics own a chunk of my heart.
Something that really effs me up is how a large amount of society's "undesirable" adjectives are traits you can acquire due to disability.
Unemployed. Lives with their parents. Provides little to no economic value. Physically weak. NEET. Social outcast. Burden on others. Useless. Out of shape. Needs special care and attention. Over-sensitive. Medication-reliant.
the thing about self-diagnosis is that to have an official diagnosis you HAVE to self-diagnose yourself first and write down all your symptoms and then present them to the psychiatrist like you are defending it on trial otherwise if you go to psychiatrist unprepared and just say you feel miserable all the time and don't know why they will say "ummmm uhhhhh you probably have anxiety. probably just stress from your work lol"
except if you're a disabled child , or too disabled to look up or write down symptoms, or can't understand that your symptoms are indeed symptoms of a condition, or were forcibly diagnosed regardless of how willing you were, or institutionalised or arrested, or so severely disabled that there's no question about it. or be one of the many disabled people who can't work.
it's not like none of the people i mentioned will have had to self diagnose and then advocate for a documented diagnosis. and it's not like there's anything wrong with doing your own research and advocating for your needs to be met. but there's no way the only way to get an official diagnosis is to self diagnose first. you have to forget about a lot of disabled people to say this
"But it's not FOR them!!!" The biggest military power in the world belongs to a christofascist nation overseen by a felon found guilty of 34 federal crimes and has greenlit a gestapo with more direct funding than the entire military of Canada for the purpose of ethnic cleansing. Let Hetero Jessica throw some biodegradable glitter at a municipal parade
At this point if anyone is trying to exclude anyone benignly pro-queer from a pro-queer space I'm just going to assume you're a fed or something idk like something something destabilize the movement from within or whatever
so. not to doxx myself (i've talked about this here before though) but i live in Kansas. and my license was just revoked very suddenly and immediately because i'm trans and had changed my gender marker.
so now i cannot legally drive or vote until/unless i let them force me to carry around a card that misgenders me and outs me as trans, because i certainly don't look female anymore.
so hey if you have the means and want to help with any of this, please consider donating to the ACLU of Kansas because they are at least going to try to do something to push back against this, and i'm such a panicky wreck that the only thing i can do to get through my immediate gut reaction to having my license revoked tonight (i cannot stress enough that i received the letter today saying that my license is no longer valid tomorrow) is focus on the fact that there's at least one entity trying to protect me and my fellow trans kansans.
Make no mistake, this un-documents transgender people. Next up, expressing any sort of gender that does not conform to the fascists' legally enforced binary will be criminalized as identify fraud, because people's appearance won't match their IDs. I can slippery-slope this into all sorts of horrible futures, but I don't have to. Project 2025 has already done that for us. The future is here.
For transgender residents of Kansas, I know... I know there are so many reasons not to move. It's impossibly expensive, it's heartbreaking to be driven out your community, to perhaps leave your family (however you define it), your job. Or maybe it's what you want! A mix of both. Whatever feelings you have about the possibility of moving to a trans sanctuary state...really, really think about it. There are resources linked below to help guide this decision. There are people--individuals and organizations-- that are here to help.
There is no promise that a state you move to won't slide into the same state-sanctioned human rights violations you're currently experiencing, but what it does promise you is time.
It's important that you survive.
It is important that you survive.
You belong in this world.
And you deserve to thrive.

The Buff-Tip Moth: this moth's unique resting position all0ws it to mimic a broken birch twig, and the buff-colored patches on its head and forewings even resemble freshly-snapped wood
Phalera bucephala, commonly known as the buff-tip moth, is a remarkable mimic that can easily disguise itself as a broken twig. This moth has a unique resting position that makes its body seem narrower and more cylindrical; its wings are also covered in silvery patterns that resemble tree bark, and the buff-colored patches on its head and forewings mimic the appearance of freshly-snapped wood.
Above: three actual twigs and one buff-tip moth
This type of camouflage is also known as protective resemblance — a form of mimesis in which an animal can avoid being preyed upon by mimicking an unremarkable or inedible aspect of its environment. Many other moths are able to disguise themselves in similar ways, often mimicking dead leaves, twigs, tree bark, and/or moss, among other things.
Above: more photos of Phalera bucephala
The buff-tip moth is particularly adept at disguising itself, however, and the fact that it so strongly resembles such a specific object (not just a dead leaf or a piece of foliage, but a broken twig from a silver birch tree, in particular) makes this disguise seem even more impressive and unique.
Above: the photo at the top shows a buff-tip moth in its resting position, while the photo at the bottom shows the same species with its wings unfurled
It also tends to look like there's a weird little smiley face in the bristles that surround the moth's head, which is arguably even more striking, but for some reason none of my sources seem to mention that weirdness.

This species is distributed throughout the British Isles, mainland Europe, and certain parts of Asia, with its range extending into Eastern Siberia.
Finally posting my pieces i did for @mirrormirroreahzine
we don't have any zines left but we DO have keychains, buttons, prints, and stickers ! I had so much fun working on this project with SO many amazing artists, I'm so honored to have been chosen to do this and i know little me would be so amazed to see this in my hands.

People always have a lot to say about caregiver fatigue, but no one gives a shit about the shame of being taken care of. I think it's even heavier than caregiving. As a caregiver, you can always take a break. But when you're on the other side, the shame never ends.
Caregiver fatigue and empathy fatigue are just deeply uninteresting topics to me. Sorry. Can we talk instead about building a world where help isn't rationed according to how likeable someone is?
We have the capacity to honour the fatigue of caregivers and that of those who require caregiving, for the betterment of all society we can honour, support and raise up both. Imagining society as a competition is a capitalist concept. Envision a society in which care is not rationed, because the cost is managed by the State.
Lol, it's exhausting having my own posts explained back to me by people (curiously, it's mostly white people), as if it never occurred to them that if I didn't say what they're saying, there might've been a reason for that.
There are countless studies on caregiver stress and burnout. But when you start looking for research on the long-term emotional impact of having to rely on other people just to stay alive, there's a lot less out there. The experiences of people receiving long-term care still get far less attention than those of caregivers.
This is exactly what I've been complaining about. I don't need any more "additions" from smartalecks who think they're improving my point. If you want to make a different argument, write your own post. Otherwise, stick to your fandom blogging.

Because I feel like kids of color don’t hear it enough: domestic abuse is not a part of your culture.
A lot of us were raised with the idea that “its normal for wives/children to get hit! it helps them learn– only white folk don’t get beaten when they misbehave”. That’s not true, white people aren’t the only ones who deserve a safe and abuse free environment. Black and brown people can and do have loving families.
If you’re in a situation where you are enduring abuse and people use your culture to justify it, I want you to know that what they’re telling you are lies.
as someone who studies this: statistically speaking, child abuse (including “spanking”, because all forms of hitting children are abusive) is pretty much equally prevalent in households of all racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. so yeah, don’t let people use the “culture” excuse on you, but also, don’t believe others are experiencing it less just because it’s less normalized in their culture to talk about it. we all gotta work together to fix this shit.
All the black & latino ppl who joked about Miles Morales saying “Whatever” to his parents, saying that he should “know he cant get away with that like white kids can” and “lmao did he forget that he’s black/has a latina mom???”
You aren’t better behaved because your parents beat you. “Knowing your place” did not make you more dignified than white children, you were being needlessly abused.
