Okay… I’m going to be a bit blunt and say… Did you even watch the same series as everyone else?
I sometimes see hate for Nunnally, but not for this reason, It’s usually because she’s too nice or something or she annoys people, but not for this.
You know why? Because she’s the most kind hearted person in this show. Even before Lelouch became Zero, she was worried when he stayed out too late or didn’t come home at all. But you know what? That didn’t change when he became Zero. Because she didn’t know. He was different, yes, because he was dealing with so much more stress than what a typical high school student should. But he still cared for his sister (hell he started this whole thing for her) just as she cared about him.
Her love and compassion for her brother never faltered. And for a very good reason. When they were forced to go to Japan… he was the only one there for her. No one else cared about the two Britannians. And then Suzaku came and she developed that same kindness towards him. Buuuut… this isn’t about Suzaku. This is about Nunnally caring for her brother.
She is blind, she can’t walk. And who was there to take care of her? Who made sure she “saw” the world and who was there to cook her meals and help her with everything else? Lelouch.
Yeah, yeah, Sayoko came later on, but she always looked forward to having Lelouch around, hearing his footsteps when he first came home for the day/night.
There is only one point in this show where I can pin point that she actually disagreed with Lelouch and that was when she was with Schneizel. Rivalry between brothers is mainly what caused that disagreement. But. Siblings don’t always have to agree. Yes, she was mad, yes she was displeased, but hey… what siblings don’t fight every once in a while? They don’t have to agree on anything.
Granted soon after that she was chained up to a parade float. But if you watch her, she’s in complete despair. She doesn’t know why her precious brother is doing this. She doesn’t understand at all. What happened to her sweet caring brother that she loved so much?
And then comes Lelouch’s death. Do you think someone who didn’t care for the person dying would sob like that? Do you think that if someone didn’t care they would beg for the person to not leave them?
Nunnally cared for Lelouch all her life. She probably still does, even after he died. Because he is her dear and precious brother… the only one who was there for her in her darkest times.
She loved him and nothing ever came between that. She always acknowledged she cared for her brother even way before his death. And I’m sad that you can’t see what a strong bond the two of them shared.
