Okay, I was just going to reblog this without commentary, but I can't keep this to myself. I'm a PhD student in environmental science and this is my fucking highway.
The first published study about climate change (that I am aware of-- feel free to point out if there's an older one) is an 1896 paper by Svante Arrhenius. He pointed out the link between the greenhouse effect and changes in atmospheric CO2.
Plate tectonics, which the geoscience community now recognizes as near indisputable, was a fringe theory until about the 1960s.

It is not only Taylor's Farm. As a previous reply said, Taylor's Farm is currently the only one associated with a major US outbreak. Cyclospora is a parasite that can be found on many types of fresh produce. Fresh leafy greens, herbs, and berries have historically been common vectors in the United States (possibly because they tend to be more delicate and difficult to wash thoroughly). No commercially canned or frozen produce has been linked to Cyclosporasis infections. In addition, this parasite is more common in Tropical and Sub-Tropical regions, which may be the reason some people suggest farmers market produce may be safe. Also, Cyclospora needs to be in the environment (soil, water) for around 1-2 weeks before it enters its infectious life-stage. Thus, direct contact with someone who is sick with Cyclospora will not result in you becoming sick, as it does not leave the body in an infectious state.
Not to sound like a broken record but does it make anyone else viscerally angry how we realized in the very recent past that we can successfully eradicate devastating human-specific diseases (smallpox) yet now there's a million people telling you not to vaccinate your kids against measles. I know I know "everyone will not just" but also for real we could never have measles again if everyone would just be cool

after a couple hours chopping dried sea urchins into tiny pieces with a razor blade you start referring to the razor blade as yourself in your thoughts. a little while afterwards you'll inevitably think something along the lines of "i'm getting a bit dull, i'm going to have to throw myself out & get myself a new self" at which point your internal monologue has pretty much returned to baseline
This happens with mobility aids too. I bump into shit with my forearm crutches and say "ow" before I realize those are not, in fact, More Legs. Then when I get up and try to walk without them for a second there's a moment of feeling like a dog walking upright
