Gotta love how the gay rights, women’s rights, anti racism, anti classism, labour rights, islamophobia of this entire website go to hell when countries like China are concerned.
Is communism really all that important to you that you can ignore all the horrors these people are doing?
Is it that your propaganda of “communism good capitalism bad” really needs to be the only one heard, so the condition of workers in Shein and other companies is hindering you as you protest why communism gives labours rights?
Is your idea of every communist nation being utter utopia so fragile that the reality of horrors in that country really need to be muted?
I don’t know man, it feels to me that you guys are “putting your worldviews over people’s lives”.
That sound familiar?
The “left” in the USA has been breathtakingly hypocritical about the plight of Uighurs in particular, but you can see this elsewhere too (cough Ukraine cough), for years at this point. It’s giving “but the Soviets had good schools and women’s rights!” Tell me you are a braindead zealot without telling me you are a braindead zealot.
People need to start thinking critically for a change, and they also need to take a step back from their ideologies—whatever those may be—and start thinking in terms of actual principles, like human rights and justice and fairness.
The Left’s callousness when it comes to the Uyghur genocide still shocks me. There were 12 million Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang. Their only “crime” was existing as a racial and religious minority group. We don’t know how many have been murdered because China is trying to hide any evidence of wrongdoing and so the information we do have is limited and often outdated, and probably does not show the full extent of the horrors going on.
But even what is confirmed is awful. They’ve put people in camps. It’s the largest mass in internment of its type since the holocaust. They are subjected to systemic rape, not as random acts of violence (which would be bad enough) but as a planned policy. They are also subjected to Forced sterilizations, mass surveillance, and slavery. Where are the protests? Where are the boycotts? Where is the outrage? Where is the basic human decency that should make anyone care about the suffering of these people - men, women, and children?!
Actual liberals and progressives who value human rights would care about this. But the far left is neither liberal nor progressive. They are a pro-authoritarian hate movement fueled by Russian and Chinese propaganda. That’s why they’re against Ukraine and don’t care about the genocide in Xinjiang, and why they constantly prop up MAGA and undermine Democrats.
The thing is a lot of internet communism isn’t about how to utilize the philosophy of Marx or whatever, it’s an edge lord’s attempt at filling a how void. Many of these people are ex-alt righters, and instead of deconstructing, they just kinda replaced the old radicalization with the new one.
And the new radicalization is not that different. Far left and far right or both fascism with only very tiny differences. There’s a reason the Soviet Union and the Nazi Third Reich were natural allies and worked well together to invade and divide up Eastern Europe while committing horrific war crimes and would’ve continued to work together if Hitler hadn’t betrayed Stalin.
#from what i've seen most self-described internet leftists#are just social conservatives that aren't christian-enough to hang with maga#they still want misogyny and racism and authoritarianism -- they just want it to be based on marx instead of the bible via @sick-sad-little-world
They had a revolt over TikTok being called out for being foreign propaganda with its algorithms and panicked and yelled at ONLY Dems (and conspiracized about Jews) and migrated briefly to Rednote, followed by 'Wow it turns out the chinese are people just like us so cool I want to go there'
It is 1000% an aesthetics-based fandom that hates Mommy Dem and Jews.
A very disturbing number of people on here are like "Yeah, I support Jews! I just refuse to learn anything about Jewish history or culture even when it's extremely relevant to the conversation, I misuse Jewish terminology in the same way people who very openly wanted (or still want) to kill all Jews misused it, and I take everything about supporting or showing sympathy for Jews in bad faith! Antisemites DNI btw lol"
You gotta love getting people who supposedly agree with this post but then looooove to show that they, you know, refuse to learn anything about Jewish history or culture even when it's extremely relevant to the conversation, and misuse Jewish terminology in the same way people who very openly wanted and still want to kill Jews misuse it. Aka what We said in the og post. Horrible job, folks. Get the fuck out of my house and don't come back.
Like. I've seen a lot of bullshit on here. But like. Hey. If you can recognize "This word tied to Jewish culture and history is being used as an insult." is immoral and wrong, you should not trust the people using it as an insult to accurately define the term. You should not immediately trust a group who regularly use those insults and support antisemitic violence to tell you the truth about Judaism. You should instead, perhaps, learn about its origins in the context of Jewish culture and history, so you know what it actually means outside of a "Jews are evil" context. Just a suggestion.
I'm not even going to name the specific term because it keeps happening. Over and over, Jewish concepts and vocabulary are perverted to fit old and new accusations alike.
It's like if I knew it's wrong to call people who get abortions "baby killers", but went to learn what abortion is from an anti-choice group that does just that. Which is a fitting comparison because blood libel is alive and well nowadays. So like. Maybe just listen to Jews? And not one or two Jews that already happen to agree with you on everything, but a variety of Jewish voices and organizations? That might be a good idea if you, you know, actually give a shit about Jews. And not just pretending you're not antisemitic.
Daily reminder that many, many antisemites don’t think they’re antisemitic.
anyone else worry that you’re walking around life as the mii on the right

he has no personality, I cannot think of any 3 ‘interests’ less interesting, which would be fine if he wasn’t also fucking evil
the post went on to detail how he wants her to lose 40 pounds too (she frames it as being due to his interest in fitness and not the fact he is a loser) and all of the commenters are saying “hey, red flag, code red, all of this is bad, not a single good thing about him, he really sucks and he is making demands/setting expectations that are controlling and ridiculous” and she is making edit after edit defending him up and down despite being the one to ask the internet their opinion. I’d never tell anyone to stay quiet about their relationship because that is a surefire way to protect abusers but stop coming online to tell everyone about your evil boyfriend and then express defensiveness and misplaced anger at people giving you advice on an advice forum. just log off if you don’t like the advice.

just a friendly reminder to stop insisting that "the soviet union was anti-imperialist." that claim is nonsense and won't make you more interesting.
the soviet union wasn’t some radical departure from the russian empire. it was simply the same empire in a new uniform. red flags and marxist rhetoric instead orthodox crosses or symbols of tasrdom. the core goal always stayed the same: control the non-russian peoples by any means necessary.
on paper, the ussr was a “friendship of nations,” a voluntary union of 15 republics. in reality, it was a centralized empire run out of moscow. the republics had no real say in foreign policy, trade, or even their own leadership. step out of line? you’d face censorship, arrests, or worse. this is well documented and it's gross that people try to downplay this because it challenges the theory they've consumed.
the soviet regime cracked down on local languages, histories, and identities. flags were banned. historians and artists were persecuted. even alphabets were changed with non-russian scripts rewritten in cyrillic to sever cultural memory. it was pure russification.
ethnic cleansing was policy. in the 1940s, stalin deported entire nationalities: chechens, crimean tatars, kalmyks, and others. shoved into cattle cars, sent to siberia or central asia and many never made it. half of the deported crimean tatars died. scholars now call these acts what they were: crimes against humanity, even genocide. ukraine’s holodomor (1932–33) was another brutal example. millions died of famine caused by soviet grain policies, right as the regime was wiping out ukrainian culture and religious life.
the baltics suffered too. in 1941 and 1949, tens of thousands of estonians, latvians, and lithuanians were deported, targeting everyone from political leaders to schoolteachers. all while moscow insisted it was promoting “friendship.” and after wwii, the ussr exported this "model "friendship" to central eastern europe. poland, hungary, czechoslovakia, east germany, and others swapped nazi rule for soviet occupation. local revolts were crushed (hungary in ’56, czechoslovakia in ’68). sovereignty was tolerated only when it served moscow.
even economically, the ussr followed the imperial playbook. resources flowed to the center; local populations got pollution and poverty. ukraine powered soviet industry with coal and grain but saw little investment or infrastructural support. the baltic states were productive yet politically silenced.
kazakhstan? used for 456 nuclear tests without consent, leaving over a million exposed to radiation. uzbekistan and turkmenistan were turned into cotton monocultures, poisoning land and water for moscow’s benefit. sound familiar? it’s the same exploitative dynamic seen in british india or the congo.
and the legacy lives on. russia’s invasions of georgia (2008), crimea (2014), and ukraine (2022) aren’t accidents. they’re rooted in an old imperial belief that former soviet republics can’t exist without moscow’s blessing. the kremlin still pushes “russkiy mir”, this insane idea that russia has the right to “protect” russian speakers wherever they are. but this protection has meant war, occupation, and death, especially for russian-speaking ukrainians.
ukraine’s refusal to bow to this narrative is exactly why it’s under attack. the empire might’ve changed flags, but its logic never died. and the fight for true decolonization is far from over.
so please. speak to people who lived or whose families lived under this empire. stop romanticizing something because you think it makes you edgy or "not like the other leftists." it's embarrassing.
Just to add on something that wasn’t explicitly mentioned: Lenin initiated a cultural genocide against the jewish people that was only worsened under subsequent rulers. People like to act like everything was fine under lenin and only bad under stalin. No. Stalin was worse, but lenin did his fair share of evil shit too.
Hi. I was gonna add my thoughts in the tags but honestly, this is way too much to say in the tags. OP, you've touched on a lot of my family history here. My mom was born and raised in Soviet Uzbekistan. My grandfather was Crimean Tatar. When I say we are personally affected by the things you said, I mean we're affected to this day.
My family were among the people who lost their home in the ethnic cleansing of Crimea. For years afterwards they weren't even allowed to visit their homeland. They never got their home back or managed to build a new home in Crimea even after they could finally live there again, although given what's happening in Crimea now maybe that's a blessing in disguise. My great-grandfather was imprisoned for six years (and sentenced to many more) for the mere crime of being the wrong ethnicity. My grandfather was left without a dad for years as a sickly little boy stuck in Siberia. Hell, years later, long after his father's release, when he was graduating top of his class his teachers had to petition for him to be allowed to graduate with the appropriate honors, because he was the son of a "traitor to the nation." He still wasn't fully granted the honors, despite having perfect grades.
Meanwhile, the cotton monocultures in Uzbekistan? Those weren't just poisoning the environment, they were poisoning school children. Every year school students would be sent to work on the field and help with the harvest, exposing them to the pesticides that lay over the fields like a thick haze. My grandmother would get horrible allergic reactions from it, but it was still next to impossible to be freed from this duty. If I get my story straight, eventually she managed. I don't know from what age they would send kids to work, or when they stopped doing that. From what I know my mom didn't have to pick cotton anymore, but she still remembers the pesticides.
And those are just the larger crimes. You know why my grandfather's family eventually moved from Siberia to Uzbekistan? Racism. People would call them names and insult their appearance. My grandfather would have girls from the school years above him running up to him during breaks just to look at his dark eyelashes, like he was some kind of zoo animal. In Uzbekistan, at least, people looked like them and were Muslim like them, even if religious expression was still heavily stifled in public settings.
All of this happened in living memory. People have taken long-term health damage. People have lost language and culture, not only through the horrible crimes against humanity, but also through the pressure to assimilate to (white) Russian language and culture. Crimean Tatar is an endangered language. Nearly all of my maternal relatives have a Tatar name and a Russian name, because I guess even simple Turkic names are too "difficult." Very early on, people had to change their surnames to something Russian sounding. To my mom and her brother, Russian is their native language. I don't even speak either of my family's Tatar languages anymore. It's all getting lost.
So, yeah. Don't fall for the propaganda. It's not a "friendship of nations" if it's forced on you under one nation's rule.
#and that's not even getting into my unrelated beef with soviet russia. specifically the grooming schoolkids to become willing cannon fodder#my mom never unlearned it fully i think. she talked about all the books they'd read in school about the glory of dying for your country#not to mention the BLATANT ableism that came with this!#mom says the propaganda would shame even glasses wearers claiming they weren't trying hard enough to be ''''healthy''''#okay i'm getting down from my soapbox now. all of this just had to be said
people on this hellsite will be like "oh you donated money through an internationally vetted organization that feeds the people of gaza directly without the chance of hamas stealing food out of the mouths of the hungry? that pales in comparison to my strategy: hating jews"
"and also my strategy of crashing out when people point out that obvious scams are, in fact, obvious scams"
I’ll never understand why anthropomorphic animal cartoons like Robin Hood and Zootopia will go to the trouble of creating character designs that are meant to be understood as “attractive” or even “sexy” to the human audience but explicitly avoid showing interspecies romances between anthropomorphic animals. Why is THAT weird but, like, trying to make rabbits recognizably sexy-coded to humans isn’t?
Sometimes, sure, but why was Maid Marian a fox in Robin Hood? There wasn’t anything particularly “foxlike” about her personality, and it would make more sense for her to be a lion. They made her a fox only because Robin was a fox and making her something else would be “weird”, but I don’t think the wolf cop or the chicken maid or the lion prince were actually meant to represent race.
The best inter species couple is Kermit and Miss Piggy as the Cratchits in A Muppet Christmas Carol, because all their sons are frogs and all their daughters are pigs, as God clearly intended.
there are only two genders: frog and pig
I’ve pointed out to my friends that the fact that Kermit and Miss Piggy’s kids are like that means either
1) they reproduce asexually and the children are clones of each parent OR
2) Kermit and Miss Piggy are members of the same sexually dimorphic species, hence the split between their male and female children
yes I have spent too long running about potential muppet biology
oh god
Third option, when they want kids they get some fabric and make one, and hope a Hand inhabits it
Do you think there’s a ritual for inviting An Inhabiting Hand to possess the empty husk of your muppet baby?
Just wanted to show u guys that in Muppets Most Wanted, Piggy fantasizes about her and Kermit having babies and this is what they look like
So do with that what you will
Recall that in The Great Muppet Caper, Kermit and Fozzie are brothers. And this was their dad (right):
Thank you for specifying, which one of the two individuals in the picture was the dad haha
I, for one, think Shrek handled interspecies coupling the best. By this I am of course talking about the Dronkeys.
In season 3 of BoJack Horseman, we learn Diane (middle) has been impregnated by Mr. Peanutbutter (left). The fetuses are confirmed to be puppies.
This is the worst addition to this post
I am reminded of Treasure Planet.
In which Captain Amelia (left), an extra terrestrial anthropomorphic cat, had hybrid babies with Doctor Doppler (middle), an extra terrestrial anthropomorphic dog, whom also gave birth to the babies
I always thought that in muppet movies like muppet Christmas Carol the characters are played by the muppets (so kermit is acting and playing the role of Bob rather than being him) so the kids in that film would just be other acting muppets right?
Or is that just something my brain made up?

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
anyone in this thread smoke weed
In Leo the Lion (2005) a lion and elephant have the most cursed hybrid children and I think yall should see them
(also Matt Mercer voices the villain, Maximus Elefante and I think that’s very important)
I think that what they are talking about is perfectly clear.

World Heritage Post
i think about this post a lot
I talk about Russia, China, and Turkey a lot in the most scathing of terms. But what do I think of their citizens?
I think they're people.
Much of my early childhood was spent interacting with a Russian expat community, and Russian was even my first language because of my babysitter. I've known so many great Chinese people; a scientist from Shanghai was my lab boss for four years in grad school. I work with Turkish subspecialty fellows. Everyone is a person. They're all deserving of kindness and safety, either here or at home.
EVEN IF THEY SUPPORT THEIR GOVERNMENTS.
I don't want ethnic Russians kicked out of a free Ukraine, Han Chinese out of Tibet or Taiwan, or Turkish nationals out of the Caucasus or Kurdistan. Everyone deserves a home, and "this land BELONGS TO X group, not Y group" is disgusting ethnonationalism on the level of everything leftists claim to despise. Land "belongs to" no one. Land is shared. It's a loan from the planet. Any other view is just repackaged xenophobia.
And no, I don't support what the US did in Dresden or interrogate Germans about what their grandparents did, either. I don't refuse to interact with Lithuanians despite them gunning my family down in 1941 and probably taking their homes. A human being is a human being.
The fascist section of the left could learn a little something from me.
This goes for every country. Yes, even that one.
How does this even happen??? I would say get a room but, I dont think it applies to this situation. George and Paul not making any efforts to help them either.
Y'all know I'm not a fan of AOC but I said multiple times that her refusing to throw her weight behind Platner, despite her nearly always backing Bernie's candidates, was one of the biggest red flags here.
She gets no credit from me. None. She's an idiot who at best guessed correctly on this one and rather than actively take him on, she quailed at addressing platner, his fans, and his orgs, pretending she 'wasn't following it' while she parachuted into dozens of other races, supporting Jew-haters who didn't have tattoos. She's a stupid, broken clock, not a principled operator.
