fuck, I’d give my right arm to see a deaf main character in star trek. I mean clearly in this utopian future disabilities still exist. Accessibility aids still exist. As a deaf person who uses hearing accessible aids, I still need people to sign to me- a Cochlear implant or Auditory Brain stem Implant is NOT hearing, but they could get away with A LOT because it’s in the future, and still have them use sign language for a brief time. (like say it’s too noisy in a room, so they’re having trouble understanding) and not fall back on the “we communicate telepathically.” IDK I just want to see someone like me EXIST in the future.

I tried to be positive, I honestly tried to be fucking positive, but if that twat Tarantino is being dismissive of Simon Pegg, the man who not only directed the best reboot film so far, but is one of only 2 actors to have appeared in the ‘Sci-Fi Holy Trinity’ of Doctor Who, Star Trek, and Star Wars, then I can only assume he wants the franchise to fail.

Simon Pegg actually co-wrote Star Trek Beyond. He also co wrote Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and the World’s End. Meaning this guy knows how to fucking write. For Tarantino to be this dismissive of him, especially considering that Simon has 3 films experience on Star Trek while Tarantino has never made a science fiction anything before means this movie is basically screwed.

Honestly the scene between him & Hayes in sickbay just before Hayes dies is already really good. You could easily add a line of dialogue or smth to make it obvious that their relationship was more than professional though

I guess this would make Hayes’ death a Bury Your Gays trope which would suck but also idk? it would be poignant and make the whole situation more urgent for Malcolm. He could always get another love interest in s4?

likkeeeeeee every time you mention Malcolm being ‘straight’ is a time in which you could’ve just as easily mentioned that he was gay. Did you mentioning him being with women change the plot of any of those episodes/the show overall? Don’t think so
