how it feels watching Star Trek for the first time.
I love this pic sm so I drew it
happy spoons day guys 🥄
i sometimes forget star trek had a real "hes gay, jim" moment
Aaand a merry Pride Month to y'all.
Never ceases to destroy me how Spock will say the most romantic shit and then just be like "This is, of course, entirely logical"
It's always like "Jim Kirk is the greatest man who has ever lived. Gravity itself would invert before he could make an error or act dishonorably. As a Vulcan, I am incapable of hyperbole. This is simply a statement of truth I have arrived at with my logical brain"
I feel like if you grabbed dinner with him and Jim came up he'd start showing you slides and figures about why Jim is the bestest and he can scientifically prove it
big fan of the trope/dynamic of Kirk openly and insistently flirting with Spock knowing Spock knows what human courting looks like and takes his lack of response as rejection which absolutely kills Kirk inside but he keeps doing it because he literally can't control himself around him
while Spock interprets Kirk's smirks and winks as just being playful and friendly since he is flirty with everyone on the ship and Spock deduces this is just his way of including Spock into the family and so Spock focus all his energy on remaining stoic, hiding his love for his captain as to not make Kirk uncomfortable by reciprocating which absolutely kills him inside but he buries that too
and then both of them avoiding skin to skin contact because they don't want to make the other uncomfortable by their own feelings for eachother and then both getting hurt by the fact that the other is avoiding their touch :))))) myeah
happy pride month from the tribbles
star trek heritage post (June 7th, 2017)
Nichelle Nichols on the set of Star Trek (1966-1969)
bone
[ID] Text reads: You: TOS is pretty chill. Spock: The Lasagna is a mother and is in pain. Kirk: Fuck. [End ID]
This post is about the Horta.
Mother Lasagne (crosses self)
in the original series it's clear that spock and kirk are attracted to each other but in the movies they're in love. like they carry so much devotion for one another its impossible to write a story unrelated to their bond. they're old and in love and they look at each other like that because its the only natural reaction to existing alongside your soulmate, your one true love, your t'hy'la. god they're so in love it makes me sick
This is why I think something happened between them at the end of the first mission, and Spock couldn’t handle the emotional internal conflict which is why he went to Gol. After Movie 1, they’re absolutely married.
A lot can be said about the AOS movies but the absolute unused potential of Kirk in that universe as a character really cheeses my cake. Ever lament on how your life turned out and wonder "what if"? Yeah he knows what if. He literally got his life but better mind beamed into his skull like Spock prime showed up and was like what is going on this is what's supposed to be going on and he just has to deal with it. Like yeah his dad wasn't supposed to die when he was born, and he was actually supposed to have a transcendent bond with this dude who just tried to kill him, but nah nope you get stuck with the looser bad universe. Knowing the potential and seeing the bitter ugly reality you're stuck in has got to be torturous. But movie did not think of this because why would they. And think of the imposter syndrome amped to the max of him trying to be someone he's not, the better, happier Kirk that he's not. Twisted and messed up
Sorting star trek characters by if they're experiencing biblical, shakespearean, or grecian tragedies while the A plot is about managing a diplomatic incident
Data is biblical, Worf is shakespeare aligned. Spock's tragedies are greek. Kirk is shakespeare again. Miles O'Brien is actually in an experimental absurdist horror novella he's different. Tasha Yar is biblical because she's matching with Data
Kira is biblical. You might think Dax is shakespearean via her connection to Worf's tragedies but she's actually grecian. I think Crusher is also in an absurdist novella actually
[ID: tags from @bite-my-grimy-fleshy-ass that read, "#torn between Biblical and Shakespeare for Sisko #dsspite the overt religious themes of his arc there's a lot more Shakespeare moments #plus Avery Brooks' presence always makes things feel more Shakespeare" /end ID]
(Calvin's dad voice) despite the overtly religious themes of his arc, Sisko is shakespearean
