This was an adventure from beginning to end
being a female means needing to see 10 different doctors to get a proper diagnosis because they always think you’re exaggerating and/or lying
define proper diagnosis. I mean, does that just mean the diagnosis you want?
no :) it means going to 10 different doctors who disbelieved your symptoms until the 11th found cysts on your ovaries :) which may mean infertility :) sit on a cactus :)
or being told not being able to walk up a flight of stairs without fainting/not being able to stay awake for more than 5 hours was ‘anxiety’ until finally the 5th doctor you saw diagnosed ur CFS/ME
It’s not getting proper treatment for over a decade because people think another female only disease isn’t real. And your insurance still does not cover your prescription even though it’s the only one you can take.
Dismissing symptoms for three years before finally sending you to a specialist and suddenly everything is happening very very fast because it is so obviously cancer.
MEN SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO PRACTICE MEDICINE.
My aunt was pregnant with my cousin and her doctor told her she was overreacting and that it was just gas, that same doctor left gauze in her vagina after she had my cousin and told her that are discomfort was nothing and dismissed her multiple times until she went to the emergency room and they actually looked and skin has started actually growing around the gauze and started to become infected. That man still practices medicine.

These #FeministXmasSongs are so good. One tweet especially had the perfect thing to deck the halls with.
Patriarchy taught me through education that women had never done anything important or worthy of note
Patriarchy taught me through the media that women are objects
Patriarchy taught me through religion that my place was at home being a wife and mother
Patriarchy taught me through capitalism that my labour is worth less than a mans
Patriarchy taught me through the government that women’s opinions are worth less than men’s
Patriarchy taught me through the fashion industry that my body is unacceptable
Patriarchy taught me through law enforcement that the man who abused me was more trustworthy than I was
Patriarchy taught me through pornography that abusing women is sexy and that even my abuse could be sexy
Patriarchy taught me that I should not love who I want to love
Patriarchy taught me that I have a place in life and that stepping out of that place has consequences
Patriarchy taught me that I am less than a male because I am female.
Patriarchy taught me to submit
Feminism taught me that I am worthy, that I am capable, that I am acceptable the way I am, that I should love who I want, that I am not an object, that my voice matters, that I should think critically, that I am no less than a man (Amongst many many other things)
Feminism taught me to fight back
Female socialization is a process of psychologically constraining and breaking girls — otherwise known as ‘grooming’ — to create a class of compliant victims. Femininity is a set of behaviors that are, in essence, ritualized submission. … The crimes men commit against women aren’t done to women as random individuals; they’re done because women belong to a subordinate class and they’re done to keep women a subordinate class.

We completely agree with this Tumblr post that points out how weird it is that bra commercials are aimed at straight men. If bras were actually marketed and made with women in mind, the ads would sound a lot different. And these are just scratching the surface of the improvements that could be made.
Tell me again why a women’s liberation movement is no longer needed.
Dear “I don’t need feminism” crowd…
“The Iowa Supreme Court on Friday stood by its ruling that a dentist acted legally when he fired an assistant because he found her too attractive and worried he would try to start an affair. Coming to the same conclusion as it did in December, the all-male court found that bosses can fire employees they see as threats to their marriages, even if the subordinates have not engaged in flirtatious or other inappropriate behavior. The court said such firings do not count as illegal sex discrimination because they are motivated by feelings, not gender.“ [x]
how is this not a bigger issue

we keep trying to say that men aren’t wild animals who think w/ their dicks
apparently, they are
Here is what little girls are being taught at school: How to treat their bodies as a thing of shame. How it is an instrument of distraction. How boys can’t resist the slightest sight of their skin without turning into animals. How boys bear no responsibility in their conduct towards girls dressed a certain way. How their education is an obligation, and boys need to be given more consideration. How testosterone is impossible to keep in check and therefore they must act as the wardens of their bodies. How a girl’s sex is a prison created at birth. How it doesn’t matter how intelligent they are, or how kind, or how talented, or how brave. All little girls are taught from an early age that if they wear a short skirt,or a sleeveless shirt, then they deserve to have their right to an education taken away.
