are you going to say “this is not peak romance” as well or is it just a thing y’all say when you’re trying to go against elriel (and failing)? but at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what you call it. it didn’t stop nesta and cass from being endgame in the end!
remember when rhys told azriel to stay home based when he spied?

also, azriel never says “Elain shouldn’t scry” or “Elain isn’t capable of looking for the Dread Trove” or “Elain is too weak” ..
Amren said, “We do not have the time to wait for Nesta to decide. I say we approach Elain tomorrow. Better to have both of them working on it.”

azriel doesn’t want elain to be exposed to such darkness and that’s okay. he wants her safe the same way cassian wants nesta safe. both sisters have endured so much. both cassian and azriel are being protective and that isn’t a bad thing..
and let’s not forget we are reminded twice about elain being kidnapped and that it was azriel who hadn’t hesitated to save her:

of course he’s going to be worried. especially when it comes to the dread trove. that’s completely normal!
y’all out here acting like it’s a crime not to worry for someone and just immediately brand it as “oh! he doesn’t trust her!” when that simply isn’t the case..
and need i remind you.. azriel trusted elain and only elain with truth-teller. not to keep safe, but to use:
Azriel, still limping, merely nudged aside Cassian and extended another option.

this shows he knows she is capable of handling herself..
despite not having any training, azriel trusted elain, the only one, to use truth-teller that day to defend herself (which later elain used to defeat the king and save nesta and cassian’s lives)..
that’s azriel trusting elain. he could’ve stayed aside and let rhys winnow her to the side of camp with nothing, but azriel made that extra move to know she was protected and able to defend herself. with a dagger he has let NO ONE else hold..
Elain weighed my words … and slowly closed her fingers around the blade.

my point being: you can worry and be protective. it’s completely normal. so stop trying to brand it as something it isn’t..
