Busy day today machining some small logs I milled a couple summers ago. Sugar maple that has some nice waves to it, and some box elder that came out of the lake a few winters back. Did something a little different today. After my normal month end shop cleaning and maintenance I though this little guy would like to be brought back to life. This moving fillister plane was in pretty rough shape. The blade has a large crack and had to be cut down 3/16” and re ground. The whole body had to be squared and cleaned up. Wood worms have made this plane home for who knows how long, BUT NO LONGER! The blade is sharp, the linseed oil has dried (mostly), and it’s making beautiful shavings.
