A question for the ages.

I finally got around to watching the "Once a Ranger" Netflix special. And it was actually shockingly difficult. I grew up on this show. Reruns, new episodes, new series, all of it. And watching that just, it reminded me of all the wonderful actors of the show we've lost. They'll always be apart of the legacy, but it's still hard. I can't name everyone in this post, but to name some of them:
Thuy Trang
Bob Manahan
Jason David Frank
Peta Rutter
Grant MacFarland
Pua Magasiva
And so many others who I want to name and include in this post.
Rest in Peace and Rest in Power.
Know you're all still loved so much by everyone.
Once A Ranger, Always a Ranger
Thank you to all of these wonderful people for being part of my childhood and helping raise me over the years. I'll never forget.
Not a sports guy but this is wonderful
Hanging out with old people rules because after a while they trust you enough to confess to murder totally unprompted
Wait what.
Sometimes old ladies had to kick the ladder out from under their stepfathers when they were girls and that’s valid
oh, my little old lady murder story was her replacing the medication in her abusive husband's capsules with rat poison.
"back in the day, our grandmothers worked on their marriages and didn't get divorced!" nah, friend, they COULDN'T get a divorce so sometimes they killed their fuckin husbands. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My grandma murdered her first husband the first time he beat their daughter.
My college was next to an assisted living facility and one time we went over there to draw people’s portraits so we could get practice drawing older people. The lady I was drawing idly told me that she "dealt quite handily with her first husband” while making a stabbing gesture. Five minutes later she requested I make sure not to draw her double chin. I honored that request.
So when I was a child my grandmother told all these great stories about growing up in the Alaskan wilderness. Amazing bad ass stories about her and my great-grandmother. I recently asked my mom why my great-grandmother moved from Texas to Alaska in the first place. Turns out my Great-grandfather was abusive to my great grandmother for years and she lived with that until the first time he hit my grandmother, who was like three at the time, my great-grandmother got him very drunk and beat him to death then moved to Alaska to hide from the cops.
Men don't realize their life expectancy went up thanks to divorce.
Figure 9.3 shows that the number of males killed by intimate partners dropped by 71.4% between 1976 and 2002. Researchers and advocates for battered women attribute this dramatic decline to the widespread availability of support services for women, including shelters, crisis counseling, hotlines, and legal measures such as protection and restraining orders. These services offer abused women options for escaping violence and abuse other than taking their partners' lives. Other factors that may have contributed to the decline are the increased ease of obtaining divorce and the generally improved economic conditions for women.

I know I rarely post here, but I wanted to post this one.
RIP Jason David Frank.
I grew up on Power Rangers and still enjoy the show today. Seeing him return to the show so many different times was amazing. He will be missed. JDF will always stand with the legacy alongside Thuy Trang, Machiko Soga, Peta Rutter, Pua Magasiva, and so many others. Once a Ranger, Always a Ranger. May the Power Protect You.
You will be missed. And JDF will remain as a huge part of many people's lives and childhoods.
Rest well, Jason David Frank
NASA just saw something come out of a black hole for the first time ever.
You don’t have to know a whole lot about science to know that black holes typically suck things in, not spew things out. But NASA just spotted something mighty strange at the supermassive black hole Markarian 335.
Two of NASA’s space telescopes, including the Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array (NuSTAR), miraculously observed a black hole’s corona “launched” away from the supermassive black hole. Then a massive pulse of X-ray energy spewed out. So, what exactly happened? That’s what scientists are trying to figure out now.
“This is the first time we have been able to link the launching of the corona to a flare,” Dan Wilkins, of Saint Mary’s University, said. “This will help us understand how supermassive black holes power some of the brightest objects in the universe.”
NuSTAR’s principal investigator, Fiona Harrison, noted that the nature of the energetic source is “mysterious,” but added that the ability to actually record the event should provide some clues about the black hole’s size and structure, along with (hopefully) some fresh intel on how black holes function. Luckily for us, this black hole is still 324 million light-years away.
So, no matter what strange things it’s doing, it shouldn’t have any effect on our corner of the universe.

sometimes you just gotta pause for a minute & go okay wait am I having a mental illness symptom or am I just hungry
sometimes it’s both! but like, reminder to myself but also anyone else who needs to hear it, you live in a human body & every part of your body needs calories to function. yes that includes your brain. even if you are having a mental illness symptom I promise being hungry will only make it worse. go have a snack.

if you’re going to reblog or comment on this with anything about your own weight but especially with a “lol but I’m fat” or whatever please eat my whole entire ass instead. fat is not a bad thing & fat bodies still need calories to function. xoxo your local fat mostly-recovered-ED dyke

You know what I'm just learning, and I don't know who else needs to hear this but
it's not cheating to make things manageable for yourself
I'm very dyslexic but I love baking, and packet mixes have become my best friend, it's less reading, and less measuring ingredients and I know the end result will taste good.
I know the instructions for my favourite from memory and it makes it so much less stressful for me to enjoy something I love to do!
It's not cheating to wear slip on shoes if you can't manage laces, it's not cheating to try out a bus route before you have to go somewhere new for the first time, it's not cheating to look up the menu for a restaurant before you go out to eat.
make things easier for yourself, you deserve to be able to live your life and do whatever you need to, to make it manageable
I needed to hear this today.
