I was honestly a little nervous about having a Wedding TM just bc I get big anxiety about having emotions in front of other people, but it was just the best day - plenty of things went wrong or not as planned but we had so much fun, & also literally every guest weâve talked to since then has said how much they loved it & what a good time they had! so if you are getting married my advice is
do the things you & your partner actually want to do (first dance lessons! made up our own unity ceremony from a poem we both like a lot! flower crowns for me & my wife!)
fuck the things you or your partner donât want to do (no scripture/bible stuff in our ceremony, no garter toss bc I donât want my wife going up my skirt in front of all our family & friends thanks)
have fun with planning your wedding but also remember that even if literally everything else goes wrong on the day of, you still get to end the day married to your best friend!!
the only people whose opinions on your wedding matter at all are you & the person youâre marrying. other people Will have opinions & you can take those opinions into consideration if you want, but you also can completely ignore them & it will be fine I promise
also my wife is so handsome Iâm exploding into heart-shaped confetti forever, we donât have professional pics yet but enjoy a selfie & some candids đ„°đ
I didnât know it was possible to be this happy, I wanna bottle the whole day & send it back to sad closeted 12 year old me. like hey guess what, love & happiness are real & you get to have them!! survive! it is so worth it!
Mabel Pines (Gravity Falls) vs. Sansa Stark (A Song of Ice and Fire / Game of Thrones)
Mabel Pines
Sansa Stark
Remaining time: 6 days 12 hours
Propaganda below the cut:
Mabel Pines:
People act like she's the most selfish person on Earth for being 12 years old, squabbling with her brother and wanting things sometimes. You cannot see someone defend her without inevitably having people argue that "ACTUALLY in this moment she's actually being terrible and it justifies my hatred for her", or "yeah she's a kid but she's still really annoying and I always hate her parts of the episodes" and so on.
She is one of the kindest, most whimsical characters ever while also having the nuances of being written like a real kid and all that entails, be it flaws or qualities. She is the light of the show, the one every other character turns to for hope and laughter, and she deserves the world.
Fandom was so nasty to her for no reason??? Well I know the reason. Itâs cause she was a girl who made one (1) mistake
SHES LITERALLT 12. ACTUALLY A 12 YEAR OLD. GUYS YOURE BEEFING WITH A FICTIONAL 12 YO. SHEâS SO SWEET AND KIND AND YOU CAN TELL SHE LOVES HER FAMILY SO MUCH, SHEâS TRYING, SHEâS AFRAID OF GROWING UP AND CHANGING AND HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS LEAVING HER BEHIND. THERE ARE SO MANY LAYERS TO HOW SHE ACTS but noooooooo because sheâs selfish sometimes clearly she deserves to explode i guess. A tween girl btw. Did I mention that
Demonized her for inadvertently causing the start of Weirdmageddon and hated her for being a quirky 12 year old. Weirdmageddon was orchestrated by an incredibly manipulative being from another world had been working for DECADES to create the circumstances necessary to come to our world. If Mable hadn't been in a vulnerable state and in posession of the rift snowglobe, someone eventually would have been, and Bill would have just lied to them instead. This isn't a grand personal action of selfishness that Mable took she was literally just a 12 year old having a horrible day in the presence of Manipulation Guy 3000 đ
That is a 12 year old girl. Sooo many fans have blamed her for being the reason why Bill was even able to attempt to take over the world completely ignoring the fact that her grunkle Ford was the one who first made the portal and gave Bill 'proper' access to their world.
Time and time again over the series she is shown to be incredibly capable and even if she isn't book smart like Dipper is she is most certainly the "street smart" twin. She's also incredibly outgoing and constantly developing new relationships and not letting poor experiences deter her. Mabel also is so crafty! She is constantly creating things and when she wants something done, she'll do it.
I love that girl so much and she has received so much undeserved hate from the fandom, especially at the time when the show was originally airing.
If I had a nickel for every animated 12-year-old girl who teamed up with friends and enemies alike to save the world from an apocalyptic threat who had personal beef with an older male relative of hers⊠only to receive an absurd amount of hate from her fandom for the crime of being a 12-year-old girl⊠I would have 2 nickels!!
Sansa Stark:
Perpetually a victim of the plot, denied agency, hated for being whiny, PLUS the whole deal where they changed the plot of the book so they could show her being raped in the showâŠ
Sansa is an incredible character for the exact reasons I hated her ass when I was 14. She's often passive, conforms to expectations, and lashes out at her younger sister for being the opposite. Her arc finds her struggling to navigate a dangerous, violent world that hates women using only the tools she was taught as a girl would keep her safe and make her successful (her passivity, her virginity, her femininity, etc.).
Bashed as the worst and most useless character of the whole series for not immediately killing all the Lannisters ig despite literally watching her fatherâs head get cut off at thirteen years old. Also catches flak for thinking mean things about the fandomâs chosen son Jon Snow and her sister Arya Stark, but like. This is a middle schooler.
The WHOLE POINT of her character is to illustrate how the game of thrones corrupts innocence, ERGO the character HAS to start from an innocent place. Obviously sheâs naive at the start of the series, why would any child raised in a loving household far away from court politics develop any political acumen? But despite this, she does learn quickly, and her character development is among the most exciting in the show (and Iâm sure it will eventually be in the series as well)
I could write a dissertation on this one but if you say Sansa is worse that Joffrey youâre a misogynist. In my opinion people hate her because her abuse arc is painfully grounded in reality.
The very first man to use her as a pawn was her father and yet the fandom blames her for this. Sansaâs arc was supposed to be a mirror of her sisterâs to show that if they comply (Sansa) if they rebel (Arya) no girls win in a patriarchal society but so many people would rather hate a fictional little girl because she didnât girl boss her way out of oppression.
According to Sophie Turner (the actress who played Sansa), people hated Sansa so much that they would actually go up to Turner in real life and go "i don't like you" (and Turner would have been in like... her teens/early twenties at this point)
I really need fans to not need her to marry a creepy old pervert to prove that she isnât vain and put her in her place. Sheâs twelve. Also these creepy men like her because sheâs pretty. Itâs also not her job to fix their defective personalities.
George R.R. Martin wrote a really complex world with layers of story and metaphors. He has something to say about climate change and nuclear weapons, these metaphors are obvious. Then he challenges us to look at government, power structures, patriarchal systems, concepts of honor vs whatâs actually right, gender roles, and how to meaningfully change all of these things. Then to have people take away nothing other than the book is about a feud between to little girls, Sansa is the villain, and the story will be about defeating her. Sansa and Arya love each other. One conforms, one rebels, neither can win in a patriarchal society. Their arc is why this society is bad for all girls but so many fans willfully miss it because of their own misogyny.
Everyone loved the idea of a free and independent North under Robb or even Jon but they seem really agitated that Sansa was the one who saw it through. They are angry at her when sheâs meek and even angrier when she exercises her agency to give her homeland something they seem pretty unified in wanting.
Ned was the very first man to use Sansa. He used her as a cover while investigating the Lannisterâs without any sort of regard for how dangerous that is. Yet fans blame Sansa, an eleven year old girl for killing Ned. Girl argued like a lawyer on his behalf, the milk of the poppy defense was great and Ned was ready to through it away because honor. Whatâs sad is I donât think that Sansa herself is able to process how much her male family members fail her because itâs too much to handle. People also expect Sansa a kid to stand up to Joffrey at the Trident when Ned a grown adult wonât stand up to Robert.
The saddest thing is that I believe if Joffrey wasnât a bastard Ned would have married Sansa to him. He would have felt bad about it but he would have upheld the system. Fans would naturally see this as Sansaâs character flaw and proof that Ned is good because he feels bad.
I'm going to preface it by saying I genuinely have no ill will towards, nor trying to argue nor shame nor start drama with the person who submitted it. I just have to say, gently and respectfully, that the part in the Sansa propaganda that talks about her being passive feels wrong (and maybe even be a result of unintentionally swallowing some of the character slander we are otherwise successfully fighting against!) for reasons the original submitter might consider below.
Sansa Stark is not actually passive. I know it can seem that way because she dissociates a lot (for very understandable trauma related reasons) and cannot directly bring out a massive narrative change on her own because she is both effectively a prisoner as well as completely isolated, but she is actually a fairly active character, it's just that she is active in a more femininely acceptable way in the society of her world.
She takes initiative in front of an entire court she doesn't understand the customs of to speak up in defense of her father, thinking on her feet and coming up with an extremely reasonable defense for him that some real world lawyers in modern day use in court (and that would have worked if the authority figure was ANY character in the entire narrative other than who it was at the time).
She keeps choosing kindness. She tries to persuade her abusive captor to be kinder and gentler to his younger brother who wanted to honour him on his birthday and was unsuccessful at doing so, she shows courtesy and understanding to a cousin who is from the same family of her abusers (Lancel after the blackwater), she modifies her behavior to appear as acceptable to the people who hurt her and use any insubordination as an excuse to hurt her further, so she uses the facade of a completely nonthreatening helpless unremarkable individual to the point of falsely appearing stupid to actively conspire about her own escape in the godswood (a site of religious significance to her that almost nobody around her cares enough about to frequent and check up on).
She operates within the socially acceptable role of a lady which she has been taught her entire short sheltered life, in order to make herself seem less threatening to avoid being targetted by the horrible people around her. She analyzes her situation and acts accordingly by choice. Sure, it can seem passive because that is how women need to appear in a world where the majority of power is held by Men, too many of whom desperately want to keep women powerless and subservient, but she actively tries to make the choice to be good and kind to the young, the innocent, and those who deserve compassion and mercy.
She wakes up every day in a world that shows her endless cruelty, she analyzes the risks her behavior might incur, and she keeps choosing kindness despite it all and in the face of it all. And it's not an easy decision. Many people, even in our world, get slighted once and choose to burn every bridge they can find for the rest of eternity to get even.
Sansa Stark is not actually passive. She just disguises herself as passive to survive. And people who think that is what she is are proof that her effort is paying off.
star wars is a multibillion dollar franchise, the lord of the rings trilogy won 17 oscars, harry potter has 7 bestselling books + 10 movies and a theme park, the mcu is still massively popular 30 wildly interconnected movies later, game of thrones was the biggest show in the world for a decade, and weâve had 50 years of star trek with how many reboots and spinoffs exactly??
you arenât oppressed for liking fantasy/sci fi shit please put on sunscreen and deodorant and go outside and accept that every human alive was born with the knowledge that darth vader is luke skywalker and leia organaâs father
i donât usually check the notes on my posts but @ everyone who has seen star wars but apparently didnât know darth vader was also leiaâs father: iâm dying to know how yâall thought twins worked
If youâve ever had a menstrual period, did you get your first one at age 11 or younger?
(Apparently the average age of oneâs first period is around 12, but Iâm curious to see where the demographics are here, and if itâs been trending younger in younger generations! I had my first period just shy of my 10th birthday đ)
If youâve ever had a menstrual period, did you get your first one at age 11 or younger?
Im crying right now. Im going to kill myself after posting this. He is so ugly. Im going to drop a boulder on my head and die flat because hes so ugly. I syill love him but hes disgusting
absolutely flabbergasting to see people who have so enthusiastically succumbed to despair. like okay denethor, but some of us are gonna actually face the armies of mordor in battle nonetheless.
The thing about Denethor is that he not only succumbed to despair, he wanted to ensure that Faramir succumbed with him. Similarly, a lot of people now are not only succumbing to despair, they're actively proselytizing despair, trying to convince others to join them in their hopelessness. Despair is apparently lonely and they want company in their self-immolation.
btw denethor succumbed to despair bc he was doomscrolling on the palantir. Sauron tweaked his algorithm so he only saw bad news, and he fell into the trap of thinking the world couldn't be saved.
You guys need to see this because my brain has decided "have you heard of seventy dollars??" is a widely known meme I can reference regularly (it is not)
Namaygoosisagagun First Nation/Collins has burned to the ground. The entire community is nothing but ashes after being quickly consumed by wildfires. They did not have any support from emergency services, and no one offered aid. The community saved themselves by escaping into boats because no one came.
Mishkeegogamang and Cat Lake have lost power. Families are ending up in shelters with nothing. Armstrong, Lac La Croix, Whitesand, Gull Bay, Lac des Mille Lacs are currently in the fires path and all members are being evacuated.
All this loss, all this devastation, and it was entirely preventable.
After steadily underfunding wildland firefighting and purposefully excluding Indigenous wildland firefighters and Indigenous wildfire organizations from wildfire operations, firefighter training, decisionmaking, and resource exchanges, in 2025, Doug Ford slashed the forest firefighting budget.
It's hard to ignore his decision to cut funding and leave us out of adequate fire training (even though we've lived with forest fires for thousands of yearsâfar longer than settlers have been in Canadaâand made sure fires like the ones we're all seeing today were prevented through kinisitotÄn) when, despite making up less than 5% of the population, we account for 42% percent of all wildfire evacuations in Canada.
And when we are successfully evacuated, we face discrimination and racismâlike Kashechewanâbecause it's always been easier to blame us than it is to blame the true culprit: denialism, corportate greed, and colonization.
The people of Collins and every other impacted community deserve better.
Right now, the AFN is currently accepting donations to help Collins First Nation. If you're able to, please consider donating.
ONWA (Ontario Native Women's Association) is another great place to donate to. They have outreach vans going to motels and inns and offering food, water, resources, and cultural support to those impacted by the wildfires.
Other places to consider donating to are Mikinakoos Emergency Fund, Red Cross, True North Aid, Indigenous Climate Action. You can also send donations directly to Whitesand First Nation via e-transfer ([email protected]) and they request that you add your full name in the e-transfer comment section to receive a tax receipt.
*Before sending money, verify that the appeal appears on an official First Nation, Tribal Council or registered charity channel.
If you can't offer financial support, please consider donating items of need. Moontime Connections is currently accepting drop-off donations. If you live in the Thunder Bay area, Namaygoosisagagun Health Office is also taking in donations! They can also bemailed to Superior Inn Hotel & Conference Centre at 555 West Arthur Street, Thunder Bay, ON, P7E 5P8.
