This costume was first seen on  Alan Rickman as the Sheriff of Nottingham in the 1991 Robin Hood. In 1992 it was used for Mathieu Carrière as King John in Christopher Columbus: The Discovery. It made another appearance in 1993 on  Michel Scourneau as Enguerrand le balafré  in the French film  Les Visiteurs. The piece was seen a fourth time in 1995, where it was worn on an extra in Braveheart.
