The radius and ulna are among my favourite bones specifically because they do this
I hate this. I hate that they do this. I think about this every time I rotate my wrist. It seems like the sort of thing that would go wrong in all sorts of horrible ways and leave a bone sticking out of my skin. and yet it keeps happening. every day of my life.
I rotate my arms regularly just because I like it when they do this.
iiiiiii dont. think thats how bones work
Here are two videos on Reddit demonstrating how the radius bone rotates around the ulna bone: link / link
Yeah i doubt someone would make these gifs for the purpose of an online joke so I have no choice but to believe it
i have a degree is bones (bioarchaeology) this is how bones work and i hate it
For fellow autistic people who aren't sure whether this is a joke: I asked my mother, who has an MD, and she said this is in fact how those bones rotate
You also can either use Google or Literally Just Feel Your Arm Where The Bones Are
This post continues to piss me off because of the number of people who are disturbed or in denial about this extremely simply checkable fact. If you can't handle your arm bones rotating, how the fuck can you be prepared to find out that when doctors do abdominal surgery they just shove your intestines back in there, and the intestines wiggle their way back into place? What about the fact that your eyeballs are on a separate immune system from the rest of your body and need to be hidden from your main immune system so it doesn't start attacking them. Do you even know that digestion should be an extremely painful process but your brain just blocks it out? You people disgust me
iāve been in this fandom for years and all this talk of cpfs being hated by either xz or wyb. how we should just leave and are ābannedā blah blah blah is so unnecessary.
it has always been very simple to me. iām here cause i like them. iāve stayed for years cause i enjoy their works and they make me happy. i was never doing any of these to get some validation from a no-name on the internet about how great of a fan i am. non of what i do is performative. i donāt intend to belong to whatever is the right group to be in for my support of them to be valid.
itās so easy to get caught up in the fandom bs when you stan them but this is a reminder that itās not why we are here. just pay attention to xz and wyb, everyone else kicking and screaming about this weekās fandom drama is not worth the time.
We're all in this together I suppose

The weather's changin' by Rodolphe Tavernaro
just witnessed a girl spot her friend in the grocery store and instead of calling her over she started making turkey noises. and her friend, who apparently recognized her call, responded with higher pitched turkey noises before she even saw her and they used turkey echolocation to find each other. friendship between girls is a beautiful thing <3
these were grown women in their late 30's-early 40's btw. never let aging make you lose your whimsy (or your turkey calls)
absolutely kills me when people are like āoh, but without police, who will manage the traffic?ā as if traffic management requires a license to kill
please donāt mistake this for a comprehensive examination of the issueāitās notābut so many arguments against defunding/dismantling the police become totally absurd if you think about them for more than two (2) seconds. āthe police do all of these important non-violent jobsāā and why must that job be carried out by a man with the authority to Kill You? in my experience, most jobs do not require a gun
reminder that 30 isnāt old, itās very normal to not accomplish everything in your 20s, and that it is never too late to learn that thing youāve always wanted to learn. youāre always growing. thatās a good thing.Ā
Who the hell accomplishes everything in their 20s? Who made that a thing?
I was 48 when I started my apprenticeship to become a tattoo artist. I was 50 when I married the love of my life.
Youāve got time.
I needed this right now. Iāve got time!!!
To anyone who needs to hear this, my aunt called my mom last year in tears and, as she talked about how things are going, she admitted that she didnāt know she could be so happy, and she didnāt know how good life could be.
She is 72. After a very rough go of things, she is now with someone who cherishes her (met him three years ago!), goes on bucket-list road trips multiple times a year, founded two nonprofits to help people who have been through similar struggles, and feels fulfilled.
30 isnāt too late. Neither is 40, nor 50, nor even 70.
it aināt over til youāre dead
I miss Jason
Honestly, that scale actually makes perfect sense, especially for a sixty person dance crew. You want people who are really good at what they do, but not who will attempt to stand out and affect the cohesion of the group. Too fresh and not fresh enough are both negative qualities. And Jason is just saying that an 8 represents the ideal amount. Thatās actually pretty deep, and suggests a collectivist instinct in him.
And yes, that means that Jason is effectively saying that Michael is too smart for his own good, to his detriment.
I saw this and went āoh, so it works like the pH scaleā⦠then realized that means that heās calling Michael basic.
Heās also inadvertently practicing Virtue Ethics.Ā The theory of virtue ethics states that every virtue, like generosity, exists on a spectrum somewhere between two vices, like stinginess and being so generous you harm yourself.Ā
Let's take a moment to appreciate just how amazing the title cards were for Batman the Animated Series.
Oh! I actually know what made these look so iconic!
The backgrounds for the entire series were done on black paper, a first for any animated show. It's Batman, which means everything is at night and incredibly dark. So, the majority of the backgrounds were going to be black anyways and using black paper would cut down on the time it took to create all of the backgrounds. Adding color over the black paper instead of the traditional method gave it a much more stylized look that helped make it iconic.
It also forced some other creative choices, such as using an airbrush to do all of the background art. During the early testing, they found that using an airbrush was easier to apply paint with than a paintbrush and that it looked better. Airbrushing let them be more experimental with painting techniques, such as the spattery fades you can see in the "Bane" and "Deep Freeze" title cards above or the soft, deeply shadowed face on "the Last Laugh." The overall effect of airbrushing on a black background is a much darker, moodier vibe than could be achieved with a traditional approach.
They cared very deeply about the art of the show and how they were going to create it. It wasn't just about the story or the character. In the words of co-creator Eric Radomski: "As opposed to making shows just to sell toys, we've made quality films."
You know whatās wild? Remembering that children hear things for the first time without context and are literally like,Ā āWhat?ā
I just saidĀ āSee you later, alligatorā to a four-year-old and I think it was the first time they had ever heard that.Ā They froze in their tracks, looked at me completely bewildered then replied,Ā āSee you later, chickenā and kept walking.
My friendās four-year-old put on a backyard puppet show for me, the sole audience member.
Halfway through the show, she asked me if I liked it, and I replied, āI canāt wait to see what happens next! Iām on the edge of my seat!ā
Hearing this, she carefully put down her puppets, came over to where I was sitting, and explained, āYou can use the whole seat. Itās more comfy.ā
being unemployed is rad but being unemployed in a world that treats employment as a necessity that completes you as a person while also having zero access to unemployment benefits is maybe not so good
It's funny how we watched younger generations' attitudes towards work shift so rapidly over the last few years, when everyone started realizing with low pay and high COL and no pensions or benefits, the juice just wasn't worth the squeeze, that literally every media outlet started pushing articles on why job hopping and quiet quitting (i.e. doing your job and going home) is bad, and how the push for RTO is good, actually, and we were having none of it because billionaires were buying megayachts and private jets while we were getting evicted from our homes with skyrocketing rents.
It's a weird dichotomy where society insists you have to work to eat, but you bust your ass over a grill 40+ hours a week and you can't afford the food you cook, and meanwhile some CEOs are gutting Sears and Toys R Us and Red Lobster and getting rewarded millions for destroying perfectly functional businesses. This is what the world considers valuable work? You'll forgive me if I'm skeptical of the whole arrangement.
