it’s so funny when people think cody is the boring clone trooper when cody literally body slams his metal opponents. cody is the MOST crazed he’s just a goddamn professional about it
I actually really like that about him. He’s not less brave or less daring or less quick-thinking than any of his brothers- he’s just structured and responsible. He WILL body slam fucking Grievous if it’s the last thing he can figure out to do, but just because he can do that kind stuff in the field, doesn’t mean he will set aside systems designed for the security of the war effort and his brothers. Like, I think about that convo between Anakin and Obi-Wan where Anakin is like, “I bet Cody is boring Rex with proper protocol,” and the thing is, Rex and Cody are meant to be doing an in-person inspection. Like, literally if they don’t follow protocol, why are they even going? I can totally believe Rex skipping some steps to get through the routine quicker, while Cody doesn’t mind being bored if he has to be. When Rex shoots the droid dressed as a clone, which was a fucking gamble, I like that Cody, while literally so fucking alarmed because risking something like that would never occur to him, he still takes the moment to ask Rex what the fuck before reacting. He follows the steps, is what I’m saying: first, try and understand the situation, then take action. I appreciate that.
When Cody does something batshit, he does it calmly, methodically, and logically, which is 10x funnier to me than when the other characters do dumb shit as a spur of the moment thing. Like, he did a full cost-benefit analysis and STILL decided that the smartest way to survive a fight with a 7′1 asthmatic murder cyborg was to fling his 5′9 body on top of it and hold it down. AND IT WORKED.
There’s a moment on Geonosis where they’re fleeing the tunnels from zombie Geonosians and Cody is covering the exit. Mostly everyone has started climbing out of the catacombs and Cody keeps firing to hold the zombies off until something must happen to his blaster because before he starts his exit he just flings his rifle at the oncoming enemies. Like, that’s our man. Really truly logical until it’s like, well, okay, ran out of steps there let’s just… party.
