branding :: freshwater coast analytics
he won’t mind if i say this… my buddy rob is a total nerd. he used to work for electric boat in groton, ct along with my husband. again, total nerd, in the best way possible. we are talking numbers and data loving, spreadsheets are king kind of way. rob has since moved back to his home state of michigan, got a masters and is venturing out on his own. he came to me for help on some branding for his start-up, freshwater coast analytics. i loved the idea because it was a chance to take a topic that can be very sterile and well… spice it up a bit. the logo ended with clean lines, balance and a bit of fluidity for good measure. take a look.

I have had the pleasure of working with Carey for quite some time (first branding now website... coming soon!)... she is creating her dream business offering her health and wellness experience as a life coach.
We recently did a photoshoot to give her a supply of beautiful imagery for her site and social media outlets. Afterall, there is nothing better to help tell your story than captivating visuals. Carey wasn't loving the idea of getting her photo taken, but let's be honest... it doesn't get more beautiful - and if I could look like her when I run I would maybe... actually run.
branding for full heart farm
as you probably already know, i have a soft spot for small businesses and supporting local. when farmer allyson of full heart farm connected with me to work on their branding, i was super pumped.
i went to visit the farm for the first time on a cold morning right after a huge snow storm (i parked at the end of the driveway or else she would have been towing me out with the tractor). there was a friendly greeting at the door with husband keith and her two mini farmers, henry and cora. i knew we would get along when allyson mentioned her love for the show friday night lights and their saying, "clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose"... (ohhhh coach taylor):
where was i??
in my mind, the farm is about community, education and a strong love for the soil. with that in mind it was important to develop concepts that reflected the easy going and home grown vibe of the farm. after several concepts and chats over typography style a new logo was born.

extra bonus i left that morning with a bag full of amazing food (thank you allyson!) - and in case you're wondering i made it out of the driveway... here's to many more happy memories and delicious food on the farm.

logo design and branding for russo's roots
Russo's Roots is a first generation vegetable farm nestled in the hills of eastern Connecticut. Farmers James Russo and Libby Tarleton are focused on farming their land using organic methods, combining ecological sensitivity with techniques in permaculture to create an agro-ecological system rather than just an agricultural one.
Below, their primary logo to be used for signage, packaging and more:
We also developed a secondary logo that they had liked from the original concepts presented and wanted to somehow incorporate as part of their story. This logo will be used as a complimentary design on apparel and some packaging. It stays consistant with the brand using the same hand drawn inspired font, style and color palette.

maternity shoot with michelle + tyler
it's the home stretch for michelle and tyler. at 36 weeks it's just about time for their little girl to make her grand entrance.
doing this maternity shoot made me think of being pregnant with my son clarke who is now 1 1/2. i remember things like feeling him kick, peeing 6 times a night and doing a lot of wondering... what will he be like? what will he look like? will i be able to change a diaper? organic sheets? what's a swaddle? i have to suck snots out with this? will the dog like him?
i wish i had some earth shattering advice, but truth is, i'm still figuring it out myself. they are so fresh and new the last thing you want to do is make a mistake... keep that shiny new penny as perfect as you can for as long as you can. but really, we all make mistakes and some nights drive thru french fries will just have to do for dinner.
i will tell you the coolest part so far is watching them grow... not just physically, but seeing them learn and discover.
as new parents there are so many things you can only learn through experience. the reading feels like you are being proactive (trust me, i must have primed 10 sleep books), but every baby is so different, and that's totally cool.
you guys are going to be amazing parents, enjoy the ride.

a little rain and cold didn't stop these guys... we had a great time shooting at elihu island in stonington, ct. these two found love on a train so we headed strait for the tracks! and as you can see, they made my job as a photographer pretty easy...

baby clarke is here, but i still wanted to share the baby shower invitations i designed for my little nugget! of course i wanted something unique - color palette and square shape helped this piece stand out. the hand drawn border reminds me of a favorite dr. seuss book.

I had such a great time working with Dorothy and James for their wedding at Saltwater Farm Vineyard in Stonington, CT. They are a fun couple who wanted their invitation suite to reflect their personalities with hints of Irish tradition (envelope liners!).
