✧ gn!reader, 946 words
✧ izumi is someone who, at first glance, probably doesn’t seem the type to enjoy cuddling—or any sort of physical affection, really—but in actuality, he’s very fond of it! just ,, so long as you don’t call him out on being a huggable little hedgehog. if you mention him being affectionate at all, he’s denying it immediately, cheeks tinted red and not quite looking you in the eye.
✧ what do you mean he was cuddling you all night? are you really so in love with him that you’re dreaming about him now? and… there’s no way he carried you to bed when you fell asleep on his shoulder, you’re completely making that up!
✧ but contrary to how much he huffs and puffs, i think izumi particularly enjoys it when you’re huddled into his side, your head resting against his shoulder and his arm wrapped around your waist. when you’re like this, you can’t see the way his gaze flicks down to you every so often when you snuggle up to him—or the way his eyes crinkle in amusement when you doze off.
✧ if you’re paying attention while you’re like this, though, you’ll be able to feel the way he holds you tighter—the way he shifts around ever so slightly, all so that you can be move comfortable (*ﾉωﾉ). or you’ll notice how he turns down the volume on the television so that you can rest your eyes more peacefully.
✧ imagine curling up next to him in bed ♡ izumi likes it when you’re facing each other, so he can thread his fingers through your hair while you sleep ,, izumi is always trying to stay awake after you’ve passed out so that he can watch over you for a while and admire your features—he just thinks that everything about you is so perfect, not that he’d ever admit it outright.
✧ and then, when he finds himself yawning and unable to keep his eyes open, he’s pulling you in closer—one hand curling around you and the other cradling the back of your head. he’s placing gentle kisses on your forehead and whispering goodnight before finally closing his eyes .. ♡
✧ if you somehow end up rolling away from him while you’re slumbering, or if it gets too cold in the night, izumi always—without fail—wakes up to pull you back to him. it started off as an irregular thing, but now he just sleeps so much better with you curled up into his chest. it’s like he’s protecting you from everything, even in dreams, like a true knight<3 he also loves to be the big spoon for this reason—and also so he can place kisses on the back of your neck, and you won’t be able to see how pink his cheeks get!
✧ whenever you’re the one to initiate a hug, he might sigh, and huff, and roll his eyes—he might even stiffen and become tense at first, insisting that there’s a time and a place—but he’s never rejecting you and always relaxing into your touch before long. and as much as he loves to run his fingers through (and ruffle, and subsequently mess up) your hair—he loves it just as much when the roles are reversed, too. which is to say—please please play with his hair (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ) don’t let his “what do you think you’re doing?!” deter you. he loves it, and the blush that absolutely covers his face proves it! ♡
✧ he really likes just ,, holding you completely. it makes izumi so unbelievably happy when he knows you feel safe and comfortable around him, so he’s always pulling you close, letting you bury your face in his shoulder. if you’re shorter than him, he loves resting his chin on the top of your head—if you’re around the same height, then your shoulder. soft, love stricken izumi comes out when you’re not able to see it, but anyone passing by while he embraces you will be able to see the rare, soft relief in his smile, like hugging you makes everything right in the world.
✧ are you busy? being overworked? has someone else been taking up just a little too much of your time and attention lately? izumi is keeping you aside for a cuddle session as soon as he’s able, scolding you for not spending time with him lately and nagging at you (lovingly) for not taking care of yourself.
✧ he has you lying on top of him, resting your head on his chest (much to his embarrassment—he’s trying his best to keep his heart under control so that you don’t hear it speed up!) while he wraps his arms around you tightly and occasionally presses his lips to the top of your hair. he absolutely adores having you close to him!
✧ if you tease him or talk about how much of a cuddlebug he is when out in public, prepare for him to scoff—to call you an idiot (affectionately) and refuse to look you in the eye. he’ll say that he’s never being soft with you ever again; but as soon as you’re behind closed doors, if you even even the slightest bit upset, he’s sweeping you into his arms with an exasperated but tender “don’t look at me like that. you brought it upon yourself, idiot.”
✧ needless to say—he can’t enforce a cuddle ban for too long, but only because you’re annoying when you’re pouting about it! not because he likes cuddling you, or anything outrageous like that… he swears. ☆⌒(ゝ。∂) but no matter what he says, when it comes down to it, izumi loves cuddles. izumi loves cuddling with you, specifically.
