Little 'Micro-Feminisms' I like to do
Women don't get enough in this world, so here are all the feminist things I do from day to day.
Compliment more women on their outfits, hair, anything really, even if they are just a stranger on the street. (Don't @ me, this isn't reducing them to their looks)
Read books by female authors - and find more books to read by women of colour and different ethnicities.
Listen to more female musicians and listen to more music made by women of different backgrounds and ethnicities
Buy from women owned stores - especially since the festive season is coming up, I shall buy gifts from women owned stores.
I only watch womens sport. I am not really into watching sport unless its tennis or the Olympics or soccer/football. I will only watch sports when its a big event such as Wimbledon or the Melbourne Open and its womens sports.
On the street I don't walk out the way for men, only other women. So many women walk out of my way but I insist on moving out the way for them, and so many men do not walk out of the way and they crash into me. One even crashed into me as I walked through a door way and he shoved me out of the way.
I have started using Ms instead of Miss because I am not a little girl in her white stockings nor am I defined by my marital status.
Instead of calling adult women 'girls' I shall call them women.
If I am friends with a hetero couple I will refer to the woman first.
I only sit next to women on public transport, if possible - this is also for safety.
My mothers name is part of my middle name, but I now use it as a double barrelled name.
Using 'She' as the default in conversations.
Consume more woman made media, and not just the books and music I mentioned earlier but also video games, movies, tv shows, etc. I am taking recommendations!
Stop using the term 'you guys' but use 'you all'
I work at a University Library and there are often a group of people hanging around for help. I ask 'Who's next?' and help the women first.
I feel like this list is rather short. Please add your microfeminisms below!
