they trained a seal to be gay and annoying
things that would exist if intellectual property wasn't a thing
so much cheap generic medication. reverse engineering compounds would be even more financially profitable.
fewer people dead of vaccine preventable illnesses in the global south bc the greatest barrier to distributing some vaccines like hpv is their ip
plant seeds and grafts that come from the plants instead of licensing them. don't invest so much in preventing cross contamination. more localised experimental breeding.
library of the world: every book and journal article in the world could be digitised and be searchable for every person in the world to read regardless of where they live. cheap reprint runs and local translations everywhere.
an online interface where every citation could actually lead to the text in question
freedom from the hell that is DRM software
everytime someone reverse engineered your shitty proprietary software we would all be freed from it instead of them getting DMCA'd
so much hardware would be opened up & therefore made so much cooler.
so many more songs that riff off and sample and interpolate shit from this decade instead of like 70 years ago and more analysis of music that didn't keep getting nuked off the internet
preserving movies and tv shows and games as long as someone, somewhere has the desire to host them
just go publish your fanfic/art/vid as is instead of all us pretending it isn't fanwork or begging the corporation for mercy / licensing
a world without ip lawyers. im getting chills just imagining it.
This has been my main argument against "AI" from the very beginning.
OpenAI scraped the entire web. All of which had been a labor of love from humans. Wikipedia is the backbone of a lot of LLMs, and that was volunteer human labor. They stole it and now they're selling it back to us.
And worse, they're trying to destroy the free sources that they stole from. It's destruction of human knowledge on an unprecedented scale. The burning of the library of Alexandria has nothing on this.
Cats have never forgiven us for swapping the warm displays with a built in shelf for a cold thin rectangle

can't believe the only options are 30 minutes early or 10 minutes late. if only there were some other way. but what can you do
deciding one day that you want to build a life for yourself is so scary. like damn I really want to live… I’m new to this. where do I even begin
my 5 year plan? find the energy to use my human body to participate in the world in some form or fashion
[PHILOMENA CUNK IMPRESSION] The "et al." at the end of a sciencer's name on an academic journal is short for "et alters", which is so the rest of their system gets credited too. Eventually, someone must've noticed that basically every reputable journal had at least one system working inside it, and the amount seemed statistically unlikely — which is why they invented syscourse. In this episode, I will
Took the dive and bought some fucking crazy shackles off of Taobao and the posts about them exploded on the other websites but I frogort to post it here so, uh. I've spent 95% of the last week hobbling about in these in a bottomy-mush state >.>
I've spent much of my life daydreaming of being a captive pet-maid-woman and suddenly finding shackles that're so ergonomic I can wear them for a week is. Uh. God, I'm in good danger. Miss is delighted.
i'm so tired of social media users saying "successful people are abusing stimulants". unsuccessful people are too. #WEMATTER
