Help me help my friend! I’m lowering my flat rate from $20 to $10 for whatever you want, doesn’t matter how complex or how many characters.

Random Villainous thought

Watching some of the Villainous shorts reminded me of Evil Con Carne, that one show they used to have paired with Billy and Mandy before splitting them into their own shows.

Admittedly, it’s mostly with 5.0.5 and Dr. Flug. They remind me of Boskov and Major Dr. Ghastly.

Yep. Kinda dumb, but that’s what my brain decided to connect this time.

EDIT: Looked at Villainous’s TVTropes page. I wasn’t the only one to make this connection. Good to know.

Been quiet for way too long. To anyone who might have been concerned, I am very, very sorry. Things have finally levelled out enough that I can type this up.

So, news:

-I’m working nights at Wal-Mart now. Should be getting my first paycheck next week. It’s not as hard as I thought it would be, but at the same time, it’s a little nerve-wracking, mostly because I’m still in that probationary period where you can get insta-fired.... My days off are Sunday and Monday.

-I have a decent laptop now, so I’m no longer struggling to get my phone to do things. Slowly readjusting to having a keyboard again.

Shockingly, that’s about it for now. I’ll hopefully be able to go through my likes at get some of that stuff reblogged.

Need to go to the store soon. I’ll be back on a bit later.

“25 years later, when the actor playing Officer Clemmons retired, his last scene on the show revisited that same wading pool, this time reminiscing. Officer Clemmons asked Mr. Rogers what he’d been thinking during their silent interlude a quarter century before. Fred Rogers’ answer was that he’d been thinking of the many ways people say “I love you.”

Considering the fraught and painful history of excluding black people from swimming pools in that era, there is no way this wasn’t a very pointed commentary to the people who were being exclusionary.  This was a specifically chosen visual.

It’s not a fuck-you.  Mr. Rogers didn’t do fuck-yous.  But it was a clear, decisive, pointed statement.  It was more than just showing inclusion; it was a deliberate response to what was going on in the world.  This was him saying “you can do better.  We can all do better.  What you are doing is wrong.”  This was a sweet, simple, and relatable thing to show little kids, to give them a view of a black man as kind and professional and a trusted adult – but also a lovely and strong statement to their parents and to the world.

It could have lost him his show, or at least his national distribution.  It could have gotten him attacked both in the news and personally in person, but he did it anyway.  I wish I knew if he ever talked about this, and how aware he and the show producers were of the statement this made.

Man, do we need more Fred Rogers in the world.

Grieving the time you loose because of mental illness is one of the hardest things. Sometimes it’s weeks and a few friends, then sometime it’s months and the special occasions missed and more friends drift away. When it gets into multiple years its no longer about the friends you once had, or the family you were once apart off, it’s just the time. The person you could have been, the people you could have meet, the fun you never had the photos that where never taken. Years stripped from your youth, with no great brave story to say for. People don’t want to hear about the years you “bravely” fought mental illness. Mental illness is so personal that people don’t know how to talk about or what to think of it. It’s too deep, too heavy. It’s not surface stuff.
