I genuinely think that the people behind this show do not actually grasp that Anthony owns the house. I think they may genuinely believe that it is Violet's house. We know from the coffee table book they put out that The Duke And I was the first historical romance novel Shonda ever read in her life. (Jury is out on if she ever read the rest of the series.) She may honestly have no bloody clue how this actually worked. And frankly, I'm not willing to give the rest of her staff much more benefit of the doubt.
